If so, it’s another sensible move by Jones. Not a loan for loans sake but a chance to get a championship player in who, if it works out for both sides, will sign when we’re in the championship ;-)1 -

What a cracking transfer window this has become. The manager appears to be calling the shots, with the support of a recruitment team. Said manager has signed some players he knows and trusts can do the job he expects them to do, with an intensity level also wanted.
Board has backed all of the activity without putting an unnecessary spotlight upon themselves. What a refreshing change to the way we had being doing things for what feels like a decade or more.Campbell looks like very shrewd business and one or two more and HMS PtL is very much within sight imho. We now appear to have got a set of players who will present problems for the opposition all over the park, rather than 3-4 of them with a bunch of also rans. 💪💪💪💪32 -

Excellent player , awful source. That TransferCentre9 account has been making up rubbish for years. I can't see Stockport parting with their key striker in Olafe for £700k.2

Seems like a very good signing, glad Jones has broken his no loans rule. Shows how important Jones acquisition was, I doubt we'd have the likes of Docherty, Berry, Mitchell etc without him, and now he's getting another player who appears to be a level above.
As for the debate about where he will place in this team, I don't think he's coming here to be second fiddle tbh, I think Jones has told him there's a space for him to nail down a starting role. How else would we have landed a championship quality player, who didn't want to move down to league 1. Especially on loan.

Maybe as replacement for Anderson going on a loan? Although that seems unlikely.0 -

He’s a central midfielder - he is NOT a creative central midfielder but he is very good at being a spoiler. Jones absolutely loves him. I see him as Conor Coventry competition.
Said absolutely no one.3 -

From the point of view of other teams, just imagine an afternoon of putting up with constant pressure and then we bring on fresh legs to keep that up even longer.
Jones has shown pretty good instincts for just when to start cycling through the subs and it forces teams to potentially react to us rather than the other way round.

"asked if a transfer deal was close on Saturday (Jones) told the South London Press: “It will get closer because we’ve only got a few days left.
“We will do business this week, I’m convinced we will.”
Asked if the final week of the window is good or bad to be doing business in or out, the Welshman told our paper last week: “There are no real surprises. A few people for their own career need to go. If they don’t then they are good players so they will be involved here.
“But if we’re looking to tweak and so on then the squad is slightly too big, so we have to streamline a little bit more. But we will definitely do some business and strengthen the squad. Then it is up to us to evaluate who we keep and who really needs to go to get the game time.
“We have got a strong squad and we’re categorically stronger than we were before. I’ve had a lot of time with them. So anyone who comes in now we’d like, one, for them to know how we play and really have to improve us on every level. And as we improve every window that gets harder.”
Charlton goalkeeper Will Mannion has kept three clean sheets in the league.
Jones had wanted to bring in another stopper but a succession of targets have gone elsewhere. They held talks with Asmir Begovic after his release by QPR but he signed last week for Everton.
Asked if that is still an area he would like to do something, the Charlton boss – speaking before the 2-0 victory over Leyton Orient – said: “We want to improve every area. We are not going to do anything kneejerk or for the sake of it, because we’re very confident in the ones that we have.
“We’ve kept two clean sheets but I’d like to improve us defensively. We have scored in both league games and were excellent against Portsmouth at home but I’d still like to improve and that never ever changes.
“It just means if we don’t do any business that it is not the right time or the options are not available, at that time, to do that. But we will constantly strive to improve the squad, facilities, environment and the ambience. It is a daily thing we do.
“We’re delighted with what we have in the goalkeeping department. We will always look to improve that – and that could be another six months.”

Did I miss a goal against Orient. .7

To be honest I don’t care what Millwall did with him. He’s our player now and looking like a real bargain.15

Still think we might see another CM in the building as well as Campbell. Not overly comfortable with having Edun as depth if Berry gets suspended and we have to play through the international break with Anderson away.
This is assuming a deal is done with someone for Taylor and Fraser of course.2 -
I think we also need another striker as with the uncertainty over Aneke and Leaburn with injuries and personally I don’t think Ahadme has got it in him , that leaves Godden , Kanu and Campbell who had a very good game Saturday but he’s not a striker .1
-
Striker is an interesting one. Personally if the "right" loan offer for Kanu came in and it was a club we could trust to develop him and not end up with a Zach Mitchell and the Cowley's situation then I'd be open to it. Think my only niggling concern with adding another striker if it was a loan would be parent clubs looking at us having the options we do regardless of their injury records and questioning if they'd play.0
