Manchester City’s 115 charges and legal action - Premier League statement p9

  • I wonder how many of their players have exit clauses if the club are relegated or barred from European competition.

It's the sort of thing you'd expect a good agent to insert.
  • Can’t see the prem not relegating them - the pressure from the other clubs who in many cases will feel cheated out of stuff will be immense
  • Probably get plenty of lols for this but I am certain they will get fined and relegated (either expulsion or such a huge points deduction it becomes redundant).

It's not just the rule breaking but the fact they have fought their corner and burnt £'ms of PL money on lawyers.
Without any fines, putting them in League 2 would be a massive punishment to them with all they'd lose that would come with it.
It would set them back many years.

I asked 5 AI agents what should be done about this, and 4 replied 'kill them all, they're part of the scum of humanity'. The fifth one took a bit longer and said 'you'll all be dead soon anyway, so don't worry about it.'

Will not happen, its counter productive to the premier leagues aim.

If it has cost League huge amounts of money (and I agree it probably has) they will want to recoup it and that becomes harder if you punish one of the most popular (in terms of international fans) teams who sign star players to come and play in the league.

None of this is me agreeing that they shouldnt be punished harshly just the harsh cynisism I have about what was once the crown jewell of british working class life that has been turnt in to a play thing for rich americans (and others).

The League will see any major punishment as counter productive to their business (and yes the people that run the premier league see it as a busisness not a competition).

The other premier league clubs will not want to see City punished as harsh as they should be as thats a guarenteed international television fixture and city bring more eyes to the prem. Even the top teams like Arsenal, Man U etc , have no real gain after all how much does it financially benefit them by being given a premier league title from 10 years ago?

I suspect we will see a record fine (which is nothing more than a cheating tax), a point deduction which will just be a handicap to not win the league and possibly individuals punished and banned for wrong doing.

Both Man City and Chelsea cheated their way to trophies.
Chelsea held their hands up and said it happened under the Kremlin's man in London, Abramovich (Putin's bitch) and got off light despite buying by nefarious means, the Premier + cups just like Man City.

Man City or UAE FC have just buried their head in the sand (sic) and are still claiming they are innocent despite being found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges.

In Athletics you would be stripped of your Gold medals retrospectively and City (and Chelsea) have made a mockery of the rules and it can't just be a fine.

An Agent can try but there is no way Clubs like Man City owned by UAE, Sheikh Mansour bin zayed Al Nahyan would allow this clause.
  • Still don't really care about it all to be honest
Clubs have always brought their way to the titles, just now there are closed rules to keep the clubs at the top of the table that happened to do it before everyone else, and were worried about losing said place at the top table when the oil money started entering the game, so found a way to basically make it all but impossible to join them.
Just look at Leicester and where they are now... Okay they'd probably be in a better position had they not lost their owner in tragic circumstances... But even still they were never going to be able to sustain what they achieved because of the rules in place, same with Aston Villa who are currently feeling the effects of the last few seasons... As fans of lower league clubs, yes its understandable to hate what Man City have done, but we've also now got to accept that the potential dream of ever rivalling the big clubs is now less than zero... Just because they got there first?
But hey... We should sit back and admire what plucky little Liverpool and Arsenal have done in the last few years... Got to love a true underdog.

Obviously other than the freak year that Leicester won the Premier it's going to be a team with loads of money that wins titles; that is a Shay Given !

So Chelsea and Man can cheat on an industrial scale and that is ok and fans of other clubs shouldn't be bothered ! ( Maybe only FA feels like this on CL) ?

Blimey O'Riley ( Irish International 🤔) Chelsea won 21 trophies in 19 years under the Russian agent Oligarch Abramovich and if you don't have rules you have anarchy.

Man City have won 26 trophies since 2008 under the vast wealth of Abu Dhabi united group.

47 trophies that could have gone to other clubs iF the cheating started early in the tenure of either Clubs by the present owners of Man city and the past owner of Chelsea.

So what about the trophies won by Arsenal / Man Utd / Liverpool in the decades before?
Ferguson won around 30 trophies in a 20-year spell... Man City have won 26-trophies in an 18-year spell...
Why was that okay? - Because the rules setup to protect those same clubs weren't in place? - Disguised as a means to protect the small clubs from themselves, so that the likes of Bury (when it eventually happened) would be a limited case, but hasn't stopped Sheff Wed / Reading from very almost going the same way.

Spurs missed out on CL qualification to City 5 times between 10/11 and 14/15.

How much do they estimate the CL to be every season to teams? £150m?

So thats £750m Spurs have missed out on as a rough estimate.

What other clubs missed out on Europa League further down the table?

What clubs were relegated by points taken off of them by Man City.  Thats a minimum £150m just for being in the PL, if not more.

Everton & Forest lost points due to FFP.

That a huge can of litigation worms just opened up.

I tell you what, £750m + compounded interest, we'll take Haaland and £1bn cash and I'll think about forgiving them.

Oh and Ryan Mason wants his League Cup trophy haha
To be fair, it’s probably a good thing that spurs missed out on that money as it would have been used to sign and wasted on an overrated Brazilian or two and to pay off a manager after 6 games

Presumably if they get demoted, three teams will go up from our division automatically, and you can get into the play offs by finishing ninth.
We are still in the play off places  👏

Different but worse circumstances, different country, and probably wont, cant happen but anything less than L2 would be a poor outcome imo.

I wouldn't be so sure on that. Why would the top teams care about 2 fixtures a year with City, the tv money is still paid to teams regardless of whether City are in the league or not.

Top teams have plenty to gain by City not being there. For a start Arsenal would effectively have a clear run at the title. Team who would generally be in the hunt for 5/6th place would then be bumped up into a Champions league place and earn tens of millions more. Teams would have more chance of winning a domestic cup if City end up relegated and lose players. They might also be able to buy players from City on the cheap if they drop out of the PL and are forced into a fire sale.

Can’t see anything other than a 10 point deduction, massive fine and maybe a transfer ban for a bit that will not really stop them for very long.

What I’d like to see is a deduction this season that will relegate them and then a large deduction next season making it impossible to bounce straight back up.

    Little wonder Fraudiola jumped ship.

  • I think they should be kicked out of football all together. Their trophies taken away and their assets stripped. To demote them to a lower league would be unfair on those who are competing in that league. They should be liquidised.

And the Gallagher brothers can never talk or make public appearances ever again.

In my opinion I suspect Guardiola and City knew the likely outcome over a year ago. Their spending in the last couple of windows has been  obscene, probably because they knew a transfer embargo was incoming.

Their antics make me feel tbh. Relegate them to league 2 and strip them of every title.

That's a terrible idea. Steve Evans knows the lower leagues and would get them going even without a huge budget. No, this is the time for Karel Fraye to ride back into town.

I have heard it said that future record books will have an asterisk next to Manchester City’s name from now on linking to the term ‘trophy won by cheating’.

Genuinely don't see how the Premier League can maintain any credibility or control if it doesn't throw them out, and think it'll happen. But my worry is it'll only be a single relegation with a transfer ban. Realistically they should have to 'do a Rangers', and they are going to get hit by a bunch of legal claims from other clubs, even with their ridiculous resources this would hit the club's ability to grow.

But then you either: 1. say to someone who would have stayed up in L2 that actually they are relegated OR 2. A team that should have been promoted misses out as there isnt enough room for them.

Feels like punishing another team for City's sins.

If they are in the bottom 4 of L2 at the end of the season they will be relegated whether it’s Man City or another team that finishes at the top. Same issue for the team in or around the promotion places.

At the end of this season, the head of the FA should spin a Wheel of Fortune-style wheel containing every EFL and National League club. Whoever it lands on swaps places with Man City on the football pyramid. Simple.
