Lets not waste the time we are given
this Thursday by asking the wrong questions.

How have talks gone with Roland in regards to getting The Valley back in the hands of The football club.

The future of our club should be everyone’s concern.
This, hopefully no more questions about how many chips are in a portion from The Valley ffs

As Airman has said above I doubt the current owners have any intention of being around in 9 years time so you will be waiting a long time if you are looking for answers from them

Does the total remuneration of our expanded executives / senior management exceed the real cost savings that have been introduced to reduce our stated aim of reducing operating losses?

The club policy on loan players has to be questioned.

    1. They said they were going to favour on own Academy players for the team (as a shop window I guess to promote player sales)

    a) my point is they have to ready for 1st team appeaarances and not just chucked in

    b) SMT seem to have got loan players -  (contradicting (a) )- and they aren't special ( eg Allan Campbell)

    c) we have seen over the years the effect of quality loans Gallagher,Liam Millar, JRS, Matteson etc

    - we are seriously disadvantaged by not taking in quality loans eg this season L Barry (Stockport) 15 goals

The strategy only makes sense if we have no ambition to leave this league but to be a selling club (at all costs....whatever the circumstances)

Problem is you would get some bullshit talks are ongoing etc etc. We are an established 3rd division team & whoever owns us at the end of the lease will probably decide we don't need a 27k stadium & move us to a poxy 10k capacity stadium somewhere down in Kent.

Isn't that Nathan Jones' strategy when it comes to loan players, rather than the SMT's?

I was taking that powerpoint presentation with the 8+8+8 in it as the basis, can't remember what was called but I'm sure it was from CM

In which case @charltonbob let’s hope the SMT disappear soon and get replaced.
Also let’s hope owners are a bit more pro active for Charlton and show us they care.

    Im renaming 8+8+8   to Gold 8 Silver 8 and Bronze 8 to simplify and my question is;

When will we be getting the Gold 8 ?

Moving from London with its population density and established supporter habits to a stadium outside the M25 or even the outer boroughs makes no business sense at all and will never happen. The cost of providing a stadium of any size, including 10k, won’t stack up. If we were forced out of The Valley we would probably end up at Orient or similar.

“Established Third Division team” doesn’t really mean anything in terms of the business. We clearly turn over more than the majority of L1 clubs and have more supporters. This issue is that we underperform our playing resources - in no other way except on the pitch are we on a par with most clubs in the division.

I'm with you on that mate 100% but the SMT are just here for a wage & the owners who knows ? They're funding our losses & paying the wages but don't seem to be pushing the boat out on quality players, just the opposite really. Who knows what will happen when the lease is up.

Well after 70 mins last night this was looking like a very difficult session that would be filled with Rodwell and Methven filling minutes with gumpth about the community trust, sustainability and financial fair play.

4 points off the play offs and season still alive, much different story

We have nine secure seasons left at The Valley. Cutting through all the crap, the one substantive thing this board could do off the pitch is to extend that. I think it will be hard to do, because of RD, and I don't think Charlie and his chums have the interest in it to make it happen because they don't plan to be here in 2034/35. I don't expect a running commentary or even care what they say about it in the meantime, but if they did actually manage it I'd consider that important progress.

Those who think it's not urgent should consider that the lease has already run for five of its 15 years and no third party in their right mind will be investing in (subsidising) a club that is at risk of losing its ground in under five. Tick tock.
I agree they probably dont plan to be here in 2034/35 but that means selling in the meantime, and a lease of only five or six years on a vital asset will depress the value of the club as a whole when it comes to a transaction.  Even if just extending the lease, it's in their own interest to address it.

Well you have both the SMT and Nathan Jones there on Thursday, so no harm in raising this as a question.

Indeed but (for the most part) it won’t be Charlie and his chums selling. The execs are picking up salaries in the meantime, which is where they make their money. I doubt if anyone will be making money from the sale in any event. That’s just the original spin.

Roland is 78, I’d be more inclined to build relationships with whoever is taking over his empire when dealing with the lease in future years.
If we leave the Valley (I don’t think we will), I’m hoping for Essex, fed up with the travelling  ;)

I’ve mentioned before that it’ll be our luck he leaves the valley and sparrows lane to Katrein in his will.

I swear we always win just before one of these meetings, then as soon as they are over we go back to being shit.
Everyone’s going to go into it in half a decent mood. I wonder if Charlie and Jim will get an easy ride.  Also wonder how many times they will say we are only 4 points off the playoffs. Or use that as an excuse for not needing to sign any new players.

Easy to cherry pick questions to make it look like an easy ride.

We shall see if that’s the case tomorrow night

On the plus side though. They can get through at least half a dozen more questions with Paul Ellliott not being announced to attend. Why use a thousand words when 10 will suffice

SMT and Nathan will get it easy tomorrow evening mores the pity. With YouTube link.

Show some balls guys and address a live audience in one of the lounges at The Valley.

You would get to feel how the fans really think face to face, and questions just put to you with out you knowing the question.

Have some balls next time and do it just like the old owners and directors did.
At least Murray, Alwen,Norris , Ufton and Collins plus Lennie Lawrence the manager had the balls to face the fans.

These meetings would be a lot more interesting if a further question was given to an answer.  This would perhaps make things more difficult for the panel.

With the exception of Bromley Addicks and one of the Kent ones, none of the other supporters groups or the club have organised a face to face meet since lockdown. These YouTube meetings never have the same issues in terms of difficult questions which probably suits the club and the other supporters groups

There was a very scripted live meeting with Garner at the Valley which he clearly hated doing and where the questions all had to be submitted in advance and where read out by Charlotte.

It wasn't a very good meeting IMHO.

Sorry I forgot about that one, as it was a total farce I obviously don't count that one.

What is needed is question asked, replied, and the opportunity for the questioner to go back. The zoon/you tube meeting completely take that opportunity away
