So having pretty much established I can't watch the games on my TV with Sky as we only have a Sky+box (not Q). I think my options are: 1. Download app and watch on my mobile (hardly watchable really tbh) 2. Get a VPN, work out how to convince it I'm international (?), subscribe to Charlton TV: this would let me watch on my laptop but not my TV (still not ideal if 3 of us) 3. I think there may be a 3rd option. Subscribe to Now TV with sky sports. This seems to be £14.99 for daily or £34.99 for a month. Think I can then get this via an app on my Smart TV. Although think maybe it's £6 a month extra for HD (not available on daily). Maybe take a daily as a short solution until we can get sky sorted.
Be interested in anybody's comments, particularly if anyone has used Now TV
For option 2 last season I connected my laptop to my TV with a thunderbolt to HDMI cable
Thanks. I might look at that for the future but gone for the simple option of Now TV for today. However I am not very IT savy. Can you explain this a bit more please. Particularly what is a thunderbolt.
My current plan is to get a lightning to Digital AV adapter and plug my iPhone into the HDMI port in the TV through that and hopefully stream that way. Which means I have to go to Curry's and buy an adapter, which means we'd better bloody turn up or I'm invoicing Charlie Methven for the adapter
Turns out the Sky Sports app blocks you from being able to screen mirror through a connector cable. Even though you pay for Sky Sports, they lose absolutely nothing by you using your SkyGo account to stream their app through a bigger screen and it's their stupid system that means you can't access red button games on a laptop or console. Bastards.
The issue is sky also sell a mobile only sports subscription much cheaper than tv subscription. It’s to stop people from buying cheaper sub and then streaming. The meddling with tech to stop me doing what I want is one of the reasons I got rid of sky.
Comparing the 2 'broadcast' methods, CharltonTV was a jerky picture today while SkySports+ was perfect. The latter was 2 seconds behind CharltonTV for me.

Out of curiosity, did Charlton TV cut off at 90 mins as well?

The Wigan coverage was fine all the way through. Commentators were mental, one of them opened with Rockys monologue he gives his son in Rocky Balboa and I was pissing myself laughing.

No. Luckily I'd left it running on my laptop after turning off vpn.

Then you log in and click watch at the bottom to see the games.
Haven't found a way to watch it on a computer (legally).
No idea why, it's not muted or turned down
All good so far.
