@Garrymanilow I couldn’t watch the Barnsley game last night on sky go, but logged into sky sports app using sky go username and password and was able to stream the game
Yep, you need a SkyGo account but it runs through the Sky Sports app. Which is extremely irritating as the app appears to be the only way to pick between the games. That means I can't pick the game on PS5 or on laptop and my TV is too old for me to cast my phone onto it. Don't fancy sitting squinting at my phone screen all day but here we are. The fact they've made this so ridiculously difficult to actually access is unbelievable
That's about where we are too.
Managed to get through to Sky ( in India of course) & after being transferred a couple of times, found there's no way we can access the games - we also have an old TV & Sky Signature package inc the full Sky Sports.
Thought I'd cracked it when found prices for Sky Stream on their website which would mean a few pounds more than we're currently paying each month but with Netflix included , saving us £11.
"Ah, that's only for NEW Sky customers !" I was told.

Back to the VPN later today but investigating one of those dongle thingies....
Afternoon all…..just wondering if the kick off is 17.30 what time will the programme itself start…..I assume there is some sort of game preamble before hand?

"Nathan Jones' Addicks will be looking to get off to the perfect start at the Brick Community Stadium, with CharltonTV's coverage beginning from 5pm.
Those who tune in will be able to enjoy live commentary from former Addick Peter Shirtliff, who will join regulars Terry Smith and Greg Stubley in Wigan."
So having pretty much established I can't watch the games on my TV with Sky as we only have a Sky+box (not Q). I think my options are: 1. Download app and watch on my mobile (hardly watchable really tbh) 2. Get a VPN, work out how to convince it I'm international (?), subscribe to Charlton TV: this would let me watch on my laptop but not my TV (still not ideal if 3 of us) 3. I think there may be a 3rd option. Subscribe to Now TV with sky sports. This seems to be £14.99 for daily or £34.99 for a month. Think I can then get this via an app on my Smart TV. Although think maybe it's £6 a month extra for HD (not available on daily). Maybe take a daily as a short solution until we can get sky sorted.
Be interested in anybody's comments, particularly if anyone has used Now TV
Christ almighty, this sounds like a logistical nightmare. Ranks alongside booking rail tickets on line. 🤨

If you’re planning to get the Sky box sorted in a couple of days before we’re next on (Birmingham midweek, Orient next weekend) anyway, Now TV is probably the best one off solution. Haven’t used Now TV in a long time but it was alright when I did.
Otherwise if you’re holding off on the new Sky box for a while, it might be worth trying to set up and test the VPN option by following a guide on YouTube. Even better if you have a cable that can connect the laptop to the TV so you can get the bigger picture.
My current plan is to get a lightning to Digital AV adapter and plug my iPhone into the HDMI port in the TV through that and hopefully stream that way. Which means I have to go to Curry's and buy an adapter, which means we'd better bloody turn up or I'm invoicing Charlie Methven for the adapter

The Millwall programme on Sky Sports + started 5 mins before the game. If you're watching on Charlton TV the preamble with Brownie starts at 17.00.

Thanks for that Briston…..but I’m still left wondering what time Sky preamble (if any), will start before kickoff?

I imagine as the players walk out on the pitch. Only the games on the actual channels will receive pre and post match stuff I reckon

I doubt there'll be anything relating to us, they'll just switch on the match streams as the players come out.
But Tel, Stubbers and Capt Fantastic are your real friends today ...

5 minutes maximum as above from CE.
Highly doubt Sky have the capacity to do even 15 minutes of preamble for every game.

Did you read my comment directly above your last comment?

This does not work. Sky mobile apps are programmed to not allow airplay (which the lightning adapter also uses, even though it is wired). There is no technical work around I am aware of to get a sky mobile app on to a larger screen.
Out of interest who will be the commentator for Wigan ? Do Sky have enough commentators for every League 1 game on Saturday ? I (stupidly) thought that it might be Greg & Terry but then my son said the pictures would be universal so the commentary also.
Any ideas or am I being stupid & missing something?
I thought the Barnsley vs Mansfield commentator was a bit pony.

This is something young people don't understand. We are conditioned to think, due to our age, that loyalty deserves reward. It is how it used to work. It is no longer the case today and I would suggest two things. Firstly, the quality of the people you ring varies so try somebosy else to see if you can get the deal to keep your custom. If your contract has ended or ends soon, you have some leverage. If that brings no joy, try one more time and then if no luck, change provider when you can. It isn't ignoring that most of the other providers are just as bad, but new customers are valued more than loyal ones. I am likely to move to Sky in January and have told Virgin as such in case they decide to try to keep me.

Turns out the Sky Sports app blocks you from being able to screen mirror through a connector cable. Even though you pay for Sky Sports, they lose absolutely nothing by you using your SkyGo account to stream their app through a bigger screen and it's their stupid system that means you can't access red button games on a laptop or console. Bastards.

It's clearly not something they've thought through. Wouldn't be surprised to see it change before the end of the season

For option 2 last season I connected my laptop to my TV with a thunderbolt to HDMI cable

I'm watching the Charlton game on Sky+ on the red button.
But if I also wanted to watch Steve Brown etc from 17.00 to 17.25 on Charlton TV.
Do you go into youtube and search what? Charlton?
The Barnsley game froze on 90 mins.
The Millwall game froze during HT and again in the 96th minute.
