I have Virgin TV with a subscription to Sky sports HD ( for the football and F1) I have gone through the sky programmes and seem not to have Sky sports+.( at least it is not listed) only had this since last September, I assume I will have to do a system update?..... or will this be done automatically?. Appreciate any links or advice
I hope to attend some home games, and take the grandkids down to the Valley (who have shown an interest). I have not attended evening games, due to the nonsense of the M20, amongst other considerations as I live on the coast and being north of 70 years of age, not confident to drive on narrow country roads late at night.
I received this e mail. Mind you the upgrade didn’t work & an engineer came today and replaced my V6 boxes.
Thanks for the information, It seems a bit ambiguous as I have had a couple of phone calls to both Sky and Virgin, as I originally posted I got the new Virgin set up in September last year, so Hopefully I have the latest version, (they claim I have). The staff at Sky seem 'unsure' ...... I have the complete sky sports package in HD, was yet the sky sports+ does not appear on the Virgin programme menu, apparently as you state and have posted I am entitled to a new box, IF it is not the current model? ...... I am sure all will be revealed next weekend when the service starts. In any case I will be migrating back to sky in March, as Sky have already offered me £200 to buy out my Virgin contract. The irony in all of this was that as a sky customer of over 25 years, I only left because my 'platinum' status which is a bit of 'marketing tosh'.... meant that my bill went from £68 a month to £140?. So I departed. Despite, protracted conversations, and about 25 subsequent calls from sky to induce me back, all these multinational media companies, just want your money! The deals they offer to us 'punters' are for a year, and then there is the annual 'discussions' every year as we all seem to have with these organisations, just like insurance companies as loyalty counts for 'sweet FA' If all fails, I will get a 'fire stick' via my son who gets all the football for £80 a year, as well as films etc, and have Freeview. Appreciate the response guys....

So I now have that remote and went through all the hoops to reset the tv etc including the free apps and some premium apps.
How do I know I'm ready to go for the EFL matches next week? I don't recall loading any particular app. Being a virgin customer I don't have sky go.

Sky Sports+ linear will replace Sky Sports Arena. It is launching on 8th August.
Thanks Clive, just been watching the boxing on Sky Arena in HD, on channel 508. So it looks okay on my set. Quite why Sky and Virgin seem so unsure about this I have no idea. Yes, it is essentially a 'rebranding' of the channel. Hopefully fans with the Tivoi boxes will be able to get help with a new box, and controller. First rule in 'Marketing' used to be.... know your brand/ product, otherwise how do you sell the product/service? at least is was when I was the art editor of 'Marketing magazine' ....but then I am only an old designer!.

I am similar. I think it depends on yoir box but as per usual Virgin don't really give any information. There is also a possibility that you can get the match using your online log in. I am ready to drive to my mums, she has sky, to watch it if necessary.

Check to see if you have Sky arena on Channel 508, that apparently will be rebranded to the new Channel Sky sports+ , or that is what I was informed. I can get it, and if your Virgin box is like the one I posted and remote control you should be okay..... well that is the theory anyway!. Agree fully with you about the lack of information from Virgin, there customer services is lacking in information, hence my comments about 'marketing' . I will be leaving Virgin as soon as my 'offer' expires, and discuss with Sky a new contract,!. IF and that is a dubious word when dealing with Sky they offer me a realistic deal then I will migrate over, but it is for two years, and they can increase the package deal during that time ( as Virgin ) have done or I will go with a 'Fire stick' which I may well do. Clive's post above was very helpful, like yourself my fingers are crossed MuttleyCAFC
Sky Sports+ will be rolled out in two stages: the new streaming app will be available from August 6, 2024.
Just two days later, on August 8, 2024, the dedicated Sky Sports+ linear channel will go live (replacing Sky Sports Arena), showcasing a selection of the best live sports from the new streaming platform.
How to Access Sky Sports+
Only customers with the complete Sky Sports pack will get access to Sky Sports+ at no extra cost. Those with individual sports packs will need to upgrade to access the new service.
For existing Sky customers with a full Sky Sports subscription, access to Sky Sports+ will be automatic – the service will simply be integrated into the existing Sky experience across Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Sky Q.
NOW customers, both with monthly and day passes, will gain access to all Sky Sports+ content, including live streams and on-demand catch-up content.
The Sky Sports+ linear channel, which is launching on August 8, will showcase a selection of games and events from the Sports+ catalogue, replacing the Sky Sports Arena channel:
Sky Q: Channel Number 412
Sky Glass / Stream: Channel Number 410
It’s worth noting that subscribers with the older Sky+ box will receive the new Sky Sports+ linear channel (if they have a full sports subscription), but they won’t have access to the live streams as Sky+ is not compatible with the Sky Sports+ streaming app.
Sky Sports+ on Virgin Media and EE TV
Sky Sports+ will be available to Virgin Media TV customers who subscribe to Sky Sports, but with some limitations.
At launch, the streaming aspect will only be accessible on Virgin Media’s TV 360 and Virgin Media Stream boxes. Unfortunately, older boxes such as the V6 will not support the streaming features of Sky Sports+.
However, all Virgin Media TV customers with a Sky Sports subscription will be able to watch the new Sky Sports+ linear channel.
This channel will be available on Channel Number 508 (HD), regardless of which Virgin Media box you’re using.
EE TV Customers
For EE TV customers, accessing Sky Sports+ is more straightforward. EE TV customers who subscribe to Sky Sports do so via a NOW Sports subscription, which is included in EE TV’s Big Sport and Full Works plans.
As NOW Sports Membership holders, EE TV customers will automatically gain access to all Sky Sports+ content, including live streams and on-demand catch-up content, when the service launches.
This will be available on both the EE TV 4K Pro Box and the new custom Apple TV box.
The Sky Sports+ linear channel will be available on Channel 447 (HD) for EE TV customers with the appropriate subscription.
So if I understand the Sky deal right, there are the 4 confirmed moves, plus all the midweek games (4) plus the Caraboa cup matches, so that's 9 live by the end of the Crawley game on Jan 1st
I’m on Virgin and have the 360 boxes so good to go. I assume choice of match will be a red button type experience in which case I suppose I won’t be able to set up to record in advance 🤷🏻♂️
Not exactly about live games, but television coverage.
I might well be the only person who looks forward to the ITV coverage of all the leagues usually on at 9pm on a Saturday, I prefer that programme to Match of the Day, and am sad enough to avoid knowing the results in advance of the programme.
One reason is spotting ex Charlton players dotted around, and seeing lots of characterful stadia where the top stadiums are a bit boring on the television.
Does anybody know if the 9pm Saturday coverage will happen next season, starting this Saturday?

So with every team being on 20 times a season, and 4 CAFC games confirmed for TV pre Jan, does that mean we'll have 16 from Jan onwards!?
IF if read it correctly we will get all midweek and games on international breaks which should take up some of those 16 from now onwards
As it also includes boxing day that's an extra 7 matches on TV meaning we'll have already had 50% of our guaranteed TV games by January. Easter games, NYD and the last day of the season are also all televised (from memory) so we won't actually have many moved for TV. Of course we could have a blistering start to the season which means Sky picks us more from Jan onwards but that still won't be too much

I make it that the following games will all be available via the Sky Sports+ service:
Saturday 10th August - Wigan v Charlton (5:30pm)
Tuesday 13th August - Charlton v Birmingham (Carabao Cup) (7:45pm)
Saturday 17th August - Charlton v Leyton Orient (12:30pm)
Tuesday 17th September - Cambridge Utd v Charlton (EFL Trophy) (7:00pm)
Tuesday 1st October - Bristol Rovers v Charlton (7:45pm)
Tuesday 22nd October - Barnsley v Charlton (7:45pm)
Tuesday 29th October - Charlton v Chelsea U21 (EFL Trophy) (7:00pm)
Tuesday 12th November - Charlton v Bromley (EFL Trophy) (7:00pm)
Tuesday 3rd December - Charlton v Crawley (7:45pm)
Saturday 7th December - Lincoln City v Charlton (12:30pm)
Thursday 26th December - Charlton v Cambridge Utd (3:00pm)
Sunday 29th December - Charlton v Wycombe (12:30pm)
Wednesday 1st January - Crawley v Charlton (3:00pm)
(For some reason the Sky fixture list does not acknowledge the EFL trophy games as being broadcast, but the announcement from Sky/the EFL states all EFL trophy games will be shown this season)
Additionally, the contract includes Leagues One and Two games that take place during international breaks. One would assume there is a fair chance of the following games being called off, but if not, they should be televised also:
Saturday 7th September - Charlton v Rotherham (3:00pm)
Saturday 12th October - Burton v Charlton (3.00pm)
Saturday 16th November - Charlton v Peterborough (3.00pm)
If they become rescheduled midweek fixtures, I would anticipate that they would also be shown in their new time slots
I am using SkyQ with full sports package……the new Sky Sports+ is on channel 412. Games can be recorded but not sure if you can set to record beforehand?
I don’t THINK they can be recorded (may be wrong). But just so you know, a small selection of the games will be on that channel (and thus I imagine recordable like normal)
The rest are accessed via the red button and thus I don’t think will be recordable
i I believe our game against Cambridge, as an example, has been chosen to be the one on the channel, but most of the rest will only be on the red button
So on Sky Stream (and I imagine Sky Glass) I just went to the apps, clicked on Sky Sports, and scrolled down to football, and all the games are listed there. Unfortunately I can't see a way to record them, but I'm hoping the next best thing will be full replays of games available through the app
Interesting that the Community Shield is on Saturday this year at 3pm rather than Sunday. And televised on ITV, so clashing with the L2 fixture programme. I'm surprised the Saturday 3pm blackout rules allow this.

all those League 2 games are on Sky Sports + aren't they?
