Really bad stage of a football career to have this long an injury, genuinely hope for the best with matty, he’s such a decent pro.🤞

Spoke to someone on the way back from the game on Saturday that says Godden is likely to be to Feb, same as Kelman sadly. Edwards around the same time, maybe longer. Never usually in the know but this source was very credible.
On Rich Cawley Substack in his interview with a Jones he said that hopefully they will be back in December.
Hopefully that's true, but i doubt it. They feared Godden may be out for the season as something went wrong with his surgery, but Feb is more likely.
It was Kelman and Edwards that Jones alluded to being back rather than Godden

Ronnie Moore said that he played in a behind closed doors friendly during the international break.

Why would he make that up?

So as long as we have something to play for it won't be sad

How's Johnson Clarke-Harris getting on in Mexico, Ronnie?

For no other reason than I'm "Glass half empty" when it comes to all things Charlton, but I have a gut feeling we've pretty much seen the last of Godden. Maybe one or two failed attempts of a comeback, before accepting he's done. Really hope I'm just talking bollocks tho.

I think exactly the same - not sure we'll see him in a Charlton shirt again, really hope I'm wrong

I agree. But to be honest none of us know what his injury situation is at the moment.

He has an appointment with his surgeon on 23rd December, all being well he can get back on the pitch after that - probably be a negligence case against the first surgeon - my take is that means he won’t be back and of any use to the first team as was said above - probably February at the earliest and whether he is as we saw last year, in my opinion, highly unlikely - fingers crossed for him and us.

Jones said in a post match that Kelman and Godden were a few weeks away and have already seen photos of Godden on the grass from the EFL sticker launch. Surely won’t be another 2 months until he’s at least fit enough to make the bench

@DOUCHER, what made you think he was a possible starter against Southampton a few weeks ago?

Because my dad spoke to somebody who talked to Godden a few weeks ago and he was obviously on track then but must have had a setback / broken down
  • Sounds like he might have had to have another surgery to put him on the right track....... if that's the case it makes his recovery 'twice' as long as it should have been but with a good chance of the right outcome....... fingers crossed for him whatever is happening, I'd love to see him back for us!

Even considering setbacks, it was highly improbable for a player absent for six months, without pre-season, U21 appearances, or bench time, to be placed directly in the starting lineup.

Your right but for all I knew, he’d been training and playing in games - I just take what I’m told and pass it on in good faith, as did my dad - I can guarantee u 100% the info I passed on about him now having a surgeon appointment is correct - either Godden and his wife are making it up or my sister in law has dreamt the whole thing  - both very very unlikely

Not doubting the information you've passed on about him having a surgeon appointment (unfortunately!). The integrity of Matt, Amy, your Dad and sister-in-law remains unquestioned. 😀
