Democratic, but weird to have the flame in one place, the athletes and dignatories in another,  and the main stadium in another.

You simply can’t rush the French can you - I see what they were trying to do in taking the Olympics to the people across the city and the city to the athletes. It got lost in several places along the way but there were moments of real style which will stay in the memory

I know the Soloman Islands were only a two athlete team, but giving them a raft to row down the Seine was a bit much.

It got better towards the end but overall I thought it was too long too samey and lacked decent camera work. They even imported celebrities to make the numbers up.

got home to watch the last of the soggy lot waving flags on boats down the river.

what a pile of old french horse crap. really thought it was poor.

awful disco music and crap dancing. 

highlight was seeing Nadal and Williams nearly falling overboard and of course the Olympic balloon flame and Edith Piaf/Celine Dion.

I forgot how good she was to be honest. Utterly incredible. They'll be listening to her long after I've gone.

10 minutes of Andrew Cotter was enough to turn over to Eurosport. Excellent commentary with a few moments of amusement thrown in. Think TDF style commentary. Glad I turned over.
