Jamaican winger Kaheim Dixon scored four goals for Charlton U21s in midweek as they defeated Wingate & Finchley.
Asked if he was close to being in the first-team picture, Jones said: “He’s always close but the trouble is when he going to start a game he goes away with Jamaica and misses cup games that really give us an opportunity to really look at him in real competitive fixtures.
“He is always close because he is something different – energetic, clever, a little bit off the cuff and he is a fantastic trainer. It’s great to see him doing really well.”

So why did he not get a game yesterday?
They were out in American recently and the last game was played on the 19th November.
He's been making a lot of posts on Instagram recently about overcoming adversity. Could just be about moving across the world but I get the impression he's starting to get frustrated that he's not being given chances in the first team
He should be an option off the bench. He's young, raw and has shown he can score goals in the U21's, hell he might even bring a bit of excitement into the side. Plus we don't have any other option other than T Campbell
Cryptic Seth alluded to something on another thread re Dixon and Jones I believe
Not to do with Nathan Jones beyond him not being the person who chose to bring Dixon to Charlton. It is about others involved. I will say no more because I can’t evidence what I heard in any way.

Just more lies from the manager. Never held accountable for the things they say in press interviews.

It’s obvious that it was Methven who was instrumental in bringing Dixon here. He even went to Jamaica for that tie in with another club there. In the circumstances it wouldn’t surprise me if he were putting pressure on NJ to play Dixon and NJ is refusing to be told what to do and hence Dixon is out in the cold. Just me surmising but ??

It might be worth contemplating the mechanics or nuts and bolts of how this transfer happened, how any money was moved about, and who was involved in that side of things. I have no answer to any of that by the way. Presumably everything about this transfer and all the money movement is crystal clear. As pleb fans it is probably none of our business anyway, as long as we buy half year season tickets.

Loan move to Welling in the works?

And here lies the problem ! NJ doesnt like something different, energetic, clever and off the cuff, he likes slow, rigid and predictable. Its far better to pass it across the back line a couple of times give it to our dedicated diagonal passing quarterback to hoof it up the pitch to the opposition

If the case I do not blame Jones.
For being a bitter prick, who because he didnt sign off a deal for someone who on the surface seems to have been a great find.... refuses to play him ?
Jones dislikes flair players and struggles to find a place for them in his boring, stagnant lump it forward preferred style. Quite why the lad hasn’t been given a place on the bench is quite beyond me. Jones is as mad a box of frogs and it appears vindictive to boot. There’s the slim chance that we’ve unearthed a rough diamond and as long as Jones is in charge we’ll not see him. Unless he starts to get some encouragement I can see him wanting out.
Not uncommon with players the manager didn't choose though, even some of our better managers have done it. Granted you might argue those players weren't ever going to be at it but Powell didn't bother with Mikel Alonso and Leon Clarke who were signed for him by the owners even though Alonso didn't get to show much and Clarke had 9 goals in 14 games for Chesterfield in L1 that season. I think Alonso got one banter cup appearance and Clarke one start and about 90 more mins in sub appearances. Jackson didn't play Nile John once. Hopefully Dixon is much better than all those, it's just managers can get very territorial about this kind of stuff.
None of us know how good Dixon is or if he’s ready for first team football. Jones probably knows better than we do
We’ve had plenty of players who have been scoring for fun in the U21s in the past but struggled at senior level. Even Kanu is only just starting to prove he’s ready at first team level, and he was scoring 40 goals for the U21 a while before that
Physically it is a massive massive step up, and Dixon does not look physically ready at all. I have no idea what training facilities were like in Jamaica, but I would guess he had no where near the access to sports science, gym etc that he has now, so he’s probably got a lot of catching up to do.
Is chucking him in because we are desperate, even though he isn’t ready, really worth the risk to his confidence and development?
I have no idea if he is ready for first team football in fact I doubt very much that he is but atleast he can run faster than my grandfather (and he is dead) and has a desire to run towards the opposition goal which is more that the current lot do
He's a sweet kid, and I'd be worried the current toxicity wouldn't be a great experience for him. That said, I think a decent cameo in the Orient FA Trophy game would be a good start.

Finally a chance to play in a relatively low stakes game as no international break

This.
It probably is too soon for the lad but at the very least he should be on the bench & be brought on with 10-15 to go to run at tired defences.
The fact that Jones would rather be threatened with getting the sack than the fans be proved right just shows what an egotistical little 🤬 he is.

If you can't weaponise that pace, what are you doing as a manager?
Although Curbs managed to negate Rommedahl's speed by only giving him the ball back to goal.

At least as worthy of a first team spot as Dixon.
