Watching him on the stream yesterday he looked to me like a moderate footballer (in terms of being able to kick a ball) who didn’t know what he is supposed to do. I would play Kedwell from the unders before him.
Enslin and Huke (injured?) are also options from U21s for creative roles.
Having seen a few u21 streams this season I don't think either are the answer for adding creativity.
I think Enslin has potential but as a LWB where he's mainly played this season, a position we have plenty of options in Edwards, Small and Edun.
Huke is that type of player, but first team football is much more physical and intense. I'm not convinced he'd make the step up. Put any of our first team midfielders in an u21 game and they'd all look reasonably creative with the space and time they'd have on the ball.
I think Enslin's move to more defensive duties is due to him growing. He certainly used to play ACM and came up with goals.
Huke I think is injured, not sure how serious.
If he could be that missing player at first team level then surely he’d play in that position for the u21s. You don’t move a genuine playmaker or goalscoring midfielder to wing back where you’d limit those qualities.
I’d imagine they’ve moved his position because it’s his best chance of making it in senior football.
I can see why he’d have scored goals from midfield at u18 level, but I don’t think the answer to our first team midfield problems is in our current u21 squad.
I noted at the beginning of the season, on the 'Not the top 20' podcast that they felt that he was far too good for L1 when we signed him. They basically said he's a cheat code. Clearly, he's lost what he had, because he isn't the player we thought we were getting. I thought he was a lot older than 26.

Toby Bower has started the vast majority of U21 matches, so Enslin is obviously just a fill in at LB. Using your logic CBT is a full back.
He is a poor poor player. Actually one of our worse signings in recent years. And there has been some bad ones.. But seems to get chance after chance..

Bower has usually played as the left sided CB in a back three with Enslin playing LWB.

I bow to your greater knowledge. I thought Bower was the size of a hobbit.

He’s not the biggest no, so unlikely to be his position if he plays for the first team.
Hope he starts against the O's. I don't like us booing our own players.
I find it interesting that in two years he has gone from a promotion winner to the Premier League to struggling to make our line up. He even had a full Scottish International cap something that Docherty , Fraser and McGrandles haven't managed.
He obviously wasn't rated to upgrade to the PL , but he moved to Millwall last season when the Spanners had narrowly missed the playoffs. What was his injury there? Did it have a major effect on him?
I remember back in the day Steve MacKenzie started slowly with us and later proved to be an influential player. I hope ( rather than expect ) Allan can prove his detractors wrong.
In the meantime let's stop barracking him , that doesn't help anyone.
Yeah I really don’t get the point in booing our own players before they’ve even done anything wrong in the game. What are we hoping to achieve from that? Fair enough if he has a shit game then go for it, but I really don’t the see the point of it starting before he’s even touched the ball
We sat with our fans at Lincoln, the reaction to Campbell getting ready to come on was far from "excited to see him", toxic, would be a better description!
Personally I've yet to see any value in the player, lightweight and without impact, however, Mr Jones "he was excellent" against Crawley! A rather large element of the upper north did not agree and were pleading for him to be taken off.
Seems to me, Mr Jones has made three serious errors of judgment, Berry, Docherty and Campbell, hence the absence of any creative midfield football and the adoption of "hoof ball".
Sadly our God fearing manager fella, is destined to follow so many before him, so disappointing another year in league 1beckons.
I think he's probably a good player but we'll never see it because Jones insists on playing him advanced.
This is a squad building issue. Could easily be argued that Campbell, Coventry, Taylor, Docherty are all best in the 6 role but there's only one of them when we play 352 and only two of them in the box midfield
We’ve had plenty of shite midfielders over the last few years, the likes of Shinnie, Bakinson, Levitt and Smith to name a few. For the most part I could see how this mob could be footballers given the right set up. BUT….. Campbell doesn’t even look like a footballer. If this loan isn’t cut short it’ll be unquestionably an old pals type of thing with Jones. What a mess!

nicking a living as a professional footballer, brings absolutely nothing, he's totally anonymous when he plays
