One of my team members is the main man for committee/bar and maintenance work etc at Old Brockleians at Middle Park, they've just done a 4 page spread on him in Rugby World Magazine

Shoulders?
Yes, he works for me
My old man's best friend, they played for Old Brocks together for years, and ran pubs across the road from eachother (Coach & Horses and The Jolly Farmers in Lewisham)

I know he made a shed load of money from the pub when he sold it, his two sons also work for the company, whats your dads first name?
The thought of rugby being played at The Valley makes me feel physically sick.
As quoted in the story London Broncos played in the Rugby League at The Valley.
I'm ashamed to say that I actually went to see them once out of curiosity, can't remember anything about the game, so must have been memorable...but the lo-light of the day was they had Bay City Rollers on as half time "entertainment"...😂
I remember that. They lost as far as I recall. Great to watch if you need to catch up on some sleep.

I beleive we barely made six figures from the London Broncos tenure so is worth the hassle?
Well, Dave Hughes - who was much more interested in RL than Charlton - became a CAFC director and put £500k into the football club when asked which he still hasn’t had back. So there’s that.
But I agree it’s probably not a significant earner, not least because no one can invest in the ground while the Belgian owns it.
Is Hughes' half a mill part of the seven mill when we reach The Premiership?

You mean like the new pitch, safe standing, fan zone, fans bar refurb etc.? I know it isn't much but that's more investment and interest than the Belgian put into it
Talk of it being for their 25/26 season if they actually exist as a team, which isn't by any means guarenteed.
Council and local residents would have issues and license at the Valley is for playing football. Regular non-football events fall outside of the licence.
Wasps have also left a trail of chaos and debt everywhere they have been so maybe not the best tenents.

I am pretty sure that I saw a sign on the gate to Rectory Field that Askeans now play there.
If that is right then the place is possibly viable for Rugby, maybe Blackheath will return there one day.
Blackheath upped sticks to Eltham because they didn't want to share bar takings, etc, with the other clubs based at the Rectory Field (tennis, cricket, etc). Well Hall is exclusively theirs, I think. They were getting about 1,000 at the Rectory Field for third-tier rugby, not sure what they get now.
Askeans play much further down the rugby pyramid - when they moved in they weren't charging an admission fee for spectators.
Not sure if they have the freehold or lease on the old poly ground but I know Millwall academy also have a regular presence there.
Blackheath own the freehold of the old Poly ground.

Wow,
The Rollers played at the Valley.
I need photos
Get rid of all the Who bollocks in the Museum, where are the signed posters for the Rollers?
And if we must sell half and half scarves- half Wrexham and half tartan could be popular!?
This was a brand new pitch laid in the summer, shouldn't really be that bad already , what are other clubs doing which make their pitch look immaculate all year round

maybe not playing ok it 2, 3 times a week?
It’s a bit rough in the areas where the warm ups happen, but it’s hardly falling apart, ridiculous nonsense from some again

Ridiculous to say a pitch that clearly has cut up in places after 1/4 of a season would struggle with the demand of adding a rugby team on top of the men's and women's teams already playing on it? Ok.

Our pitch is cutting up quite badly just with the women's team now on it as well. Put rugby on there and it just wouldn't hold up

Good chance no money would have appeared and all the cost would have been ours.
