    Thanks for the commentary Ali.
  • Nice relaxed performance... I'm never truly bothered about this competition, so getting to enjoy a win without the pressure of needing the win is quite nice - Was an excellent run out for the fringe players, with some like Taylor, REG and Edun potentially showing they could add something if we need to rely on them throughout the season.

Maynard-Brewer made a lovely daisy-chain given how busy he was.

Cambridge are lucky that in the second half, our efforts got blocked else we'd have won that 4-1

They certainly got schooled, and deserved a whipping in the BDSM Trophy tonight

2-1 doesn't tell the true story of the game imo, prior to Karoy being sent off we could have scored 2-3 from set pieces alone. With 10 men if was a little more balls to wall but wasn't particularly worried, in part cause Cambridge looked pretty gash overall. A good professional performance with most of our key players missing, good to see Josh back so soon. I have to say I'm disappointed not to see Dixon and what he's got to offer but given the game was both meaningless and scrappy, probably worth saving his debut for another time.

Lots of positives, but some negatives. Worst thing for me was that none of the three academy boys from last season who started, Anderson, Asimwe and Kanu, look as if they are progressing, none of them look good enough for a first team challenging for promotion.
On the other hand, Edun, Mitchell and REG looked good and most of Taylor's dead balls were better than the first teams'. Campbell was not that impressive.

Excuse my ignorance, but how gave Bromley got 2 points?

They drew with Cambridge (1-pt), then won the penalty shootout (1-pt)

    Won pens vs Cambridge
  • OK it was basically a friendly between 2 reserve teams. But 2 things struck me.

One is that Taylor deserves a chance in the league. Put in some good dead balls.

And two, Kanu and Godden is much the best front two we have put out this year. I'd be more than happy to start them on Saturday against Blackpool

    Cheers. How bizarre.
  • Good performance on the whole, only downside's being Karoy's whole evening, he was well off it and Zach Mitchell's injury

liked look of Potts, very calm and assured performance

Think you're being harsh on Kanu. He added a lot. Agreed on Anderson obviously!

Didn’t get any audio back on my live stream after comms went down. Anti virus software identified a threat and I guess sent the audio file into quarantine.
  • Good news all round, we won, Josh back on the pitch, at last some decent free kicks and corners and won't have to watch Anderson again for a while.

Good run out for the 2nd string. I was impressed with Taylor, Edun, REG and Godden. We have a depth to the squad now, yes we're still a work in progress, but at the same time we are also winning games. What's not to like?

Watson was basically a passenger, Asiimwe was much better when he came on. REG, Kanu, Taylor and Edun played particularly well I thought
  • Enjoyed that. I thought Taylor showed he can offer something in league fixtures, REG can be called upon, Edun put in a solid shift, and just in general, we have a bit of depth which is nice.

    Roll on Blackpool at home.

I know we all see things differently but blooming heck, that's harsh on Kanu.

He's put a hell of a shift in tonight, he's a lot stronger and can now hold challenges off, is fast and it was his excellent cross that led to the second goal.

I'd start him over Ahadme on Saturday.

Good to see other squad players get a competitive workout. Zach Mitchell did well breaking forward from defence into the midfield - hope his injury isn't too bad. Godden looked sharp and could have had another goal with a bit of luck - a proper natural striker. Great to see Josh Edwards back, although he was naturally a bit rusty. Great run and cross by Dan Kanu for our second goal, although I agree he didn't impress much otherwise.

Big thanks to @Blucher sharing this afternoon Cambridge have 13 out injured. Was enough to tempt me into a dabble. A rare success for the world’s worst tipster!

I like Kanu, he works hard but does not look like scoring, a striker's main job ( great assist tho)
