As poor a draw as I expected. No big payday, no TV coverage and no chance of progressing. So Charlton it hurts...
With full understanding that this is Charlton we are talking about…
The way NJ has us set up to combat sides with better players comparative to the average League One (Bolton, Birmingham for example) gives me confidence that we could steal a win up there for once.
Unlikely but my feeling is that it’s definitely a possibility.
I wish I had your optimism mate. Let's hope I am way off the mark.
As every season passes I'm getting more convinced they are staring to rig the draw. Every 3rd or 4th round draw there seems to be at least 2 big all Premiership games. Its always Arsenal v Man U or Liverpool v Man U.
They ask Deon Dublin to mix the balls & all he does is swirl then around. All that does is moves them along the bowl. You need to get your hand in, take a handful & really shake them around.
Dublin must have pulled out half a dozen balls in the 40's on the trot. Watch the draw back.
Seen quite a few Arsenal fans moaning (shock) about their cup draws. In the last 3 seasons they've now drawn Man City, Liverpool and Man U.
Quite surprisingly since winning it in 2020 they've not gone beyond the 4th round.
Pleased to see that one of the big hitters go out in the 3rd round, it makes our chances a little easier now of getting to Wembley.
Millwall v Dagenham might interest a few West Ham fans.
If it was at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, since they (West Ham) play their women's games there don't they, but it is at the toolbox so police might be wise to that.

I have quite a few Millwall mates and the only draw they wanted was West Ham away
Was having a good old think about it, and one real big positive (sorry if someone has said and I've missed it) is the test for some of our current lot. There's an expectation from the management team that some of these players will be ready to play at the level above (their words) so let's see how they get on.
Very intrigued in particular with Leaburn, CC, TT, Alex Mitchell, Gas, TC and Lloyd Jones if he's back, in seeing how they get on. I have a sneaky feeling we may actually win, might suit Jones, he's beaten them before in the championship, a team that actually attack us might help us where we struggle to break teams down who setup tight.

They'll still be looking forward to this one, if only for the off field shenanigans.
I get why they've been picked and fair play to Accrington and Salford for getting extra revenue, but i honestly don't see the point in putting those two games live on tv. If the lower league sides were at home then fair enough but what is the point when they will both probably end up 6 or 7-0.

Agree, Tamworth v Spurs is a no brainer but the other two are ridiculous. People want to watch an exciting game of football not two non league teams getting dicked.

Chelsea vs Morecambe instead of Aston Villa vs West Ham is the one I'd change

It won't even be the first teams either. I doubt the general public are going to see the likes of Haaland, Salah, van Dijk, De Bruyne etc in those games.
Looking at the fixtures i think i'd rather see a game like Bristol City v Wolves or Norwich v Brighton. Obviously not 'big 6' clubs but much likely to be better games with a chance of an upset.
A dull draw really, with just 2 interesting games, Arsenal United and Tamworth Spurs. Great for the minnows to play away at Big 6 clubs, both financially and as a day out for their fans and players, but none will be competitive games.
The PL and PL/Championship games aren't that enticing either.
Absolutely no surprise in those selections whatsoever.
Of course Liverpool, Man City, Arse and ManUre are going to be shown live, BBC and ITV don't have the opportunity to do that too often.
It's a cold day in Hell when a Man Utd cup tie isn't shown live ... although Satan and Beelzebub had to go shopping for an overcoat when we played Utd in the League Cup quarter-final a couple of years back ...

Arsenal vs United to be fair is the game of the round.
Liverpool vs Accrington gains more TV interest because of the milk advert, while Salford get TV interest way above their importance because of the Class of 92. Would Man City vs Crewe or Grimsby have been shown?

Fixed it for you.
Arsenal and United won't play the reserves for this game. In the case of United, it's not obvious who their first team players are anyway...
How is Preston v Charlton not one of the games chosen?
Two glamorous teams playing entertaining football, one from the north, one from the south, big crowd, international interest in the game, bound to be good weather, one manager from Barnsley, one from Wales, white v red, important train station (Preston)........
