Probably because we didn’t have a fit left backNicholas said:With all these in going's and out going's of players, the rest of the season is going to be player after player breaking down, having a few weeks off then coming back in again. we will have even more changes to the side and not have a settled side. The manager still wont ever consider trying a different approach. We have shit loads of strikers playing it out for one spot as TC will now be back up there starting each game.
Why this poxy manager couldn't have tried 4-3-3 once with TC and Apter on the wings is beyond me.
There is so much Jones has done this season which is just so baffling and quite frankly shit.0 -
Could have played Gillesphie there and told him to stay back. Could have played a right back there. It’s not ideal but it had to be worth a try then this wing back formation when we didn’t have the players for. The bloke won’t attack we are playing the awful shit football that I called out in the first half of last season. He finally grew some balls and changed it up to save his job. I’m sure he will eventually do it again soon. But may be too late this time around.

I’m erring very much to the former.shine166 said:shit or bust2 -
I think Fevrier is an attempt to do that. Whether or not it works remains to be seen. Desperately need some quality at LCB and in the midfield but from Jones' comments he knows that needs to be addressed.Nicholas said:Could have played Gillesphie there and told him to stay back. I've had to block the first half out of my memory, but what was our starting formation in the Southampton home game, when he took Apter off after half hour?Nicholas said:With all these in going's and out going's of players, the rest of the season is going to be player after player breaking down, having a few weeks off then coming back in again. we will have even more changes to the side and not have a settled side. If we go down it's 100% all on Jones, his system worked when we had the players but when Edwards and Bell got injured it didn't, he failed to adapt and change which in my opinion has cost us points. This window he has shown he will not budge on the system and has brought in players to suit it, I hope it works but if it doesn't it's all down to him.7

Back when we lost to Crawley in Dec, NJ was saying the team needs to be more consistent, but he was constantly changing the team so obviously no consistency could develop. Seems as though its the same thing now, he keeps chopping and changing. Difference is we are basically in Feb now, does he still have the time to settle on a team and make it work...Fucking hope so...By the QPR game he needs to know what his starting 11 is and they need to be putting in consistently good performances until the end of the season.1

5-3-2 Same as what it always is. But dopey bollocks decided to play to attacking wingers at wing back who cant defend for shit and that's why we got batteredstoneroses19 said:

We had 3 fit defenders ffs. What formation would you have played then?Nicholas said:

There is so much Jones has done this season which is just so baffling and quite frankly shit.So much criticism for us not playing a back 4 but when you have no left back how can you do that? Playing Gillesphey there would be suicidal, tried it for a bit at Stoke away and it was one of the worst things I’ve ever watched. We’d lose about 6-0 every game with him at left back1 -

Give over ffs, we could have played his 5-3-2 and even kept TC as wing back, as he done ok against Wrexham the week before UNTIL Jones moved him further forward to play Hernandez there which cost us the game. he could have Laqeretabua at right wing back or failing that Ramsey there and Gough in the middle.
Forgetting all that my point is even with the players at his disposal, Jones is too Stubborn and will never change it to 4-3-3 from the beginning or when were losing. Not once have we seen TC in his actual best position, one minute his this amazing non goalscoring striker then his this amazing non tackling defender. Play the kid in his right position, same for Apter maybe just maybe they we will be better, or maybe we will get worse but we will never find out because he is too stubborn!!!0 -
The problem with Jones is, he bought all the ingredients to make a half decent Sunday roast, yet insists on trying to turn it into a pasta Bolognese. He needs to stop being so pig-headed stubborn and admit that his "tried and tested" system isn't working. Even going back to playing Brexit football (442) would be an improvement on what they're trying to do.1

4-4-2 with our midfield would be an absolute disaster. We need 3 players in there to have a chance at this level and not be opened up anytime we tried to press a teamtangoflash said:The problem with Jones is, he bought all the ingredients to make a half decent Sunday roast, yet insists on trying to turn it into a pasta Bolognese. No decent additions in the centre of midfield. We really need a quality player (or two) in that position. Not easy to get I know but surely as a loan there would be deals to be made out there. Jones has never come close to addressing that and I think that is a big weakness in our team.I must admit I’m pretty underwhelmed with this window so far. More of the same being brought in is all I can see.0
