Just had an embarrassing email from the club with a clock ticking down the hours, minutes and seconds to KO. What the actual fuck. Anyone would think it's the FA Cup final or a playoff final. Talk about overplay a poxy league one fixture. My money is on the clock finishing at least 5 minutes before KO anyway.
They do this every home match, here’s the email ahead of the Birmingham match.
I agree that they’ve really gone to town on marketing for todays game, I think I’ve had about 870 emails from the club this week and I’m pretty sure we’ve now reached the legal threshold for harassment. But the outcry around the marketing, much on this thread, from our own fans is getting slightly hysterical now. It’s an opportunity for a loss making business to generate additional revenue, and it looks like they’ve done a good job of it. Don’t worry though, normal service will resume for the Exeter home match in a couple of weeks and we’ll be playing in a half empty stadium which appears to be the preference of many of our supporters.
I think the stadium will be completely empty. The Exeter game is away.

Except the Exeter game is an away game & will be played in a nearly full stadium.
Ha, whoops! Peterborough in that case (or better yet the Chelsea JPT match, which will be infront of two men and a dog - imagine how much some of our fans will enjoy that!).
Couldn't sleep last night. Not been this nervous since the play off final. Balloon knot is twitching like a rabbits nose. Please don't muck this up Charlton 🙏

Same here. The usual dread is accompanied by a horrible stomach knot!
I've woken up this morning and blimey, after this rollercoaster of a CL thread, I just cannot be asked about a game of crap, badly officiated third division, technially deficient hoofball.

This will be our biggest selling home league attendance in 10 years (where we haven’t just given 5000 tickets away.)
Why shouldn’t the club try to monetise whatever they can from it and ALSO try to pick up a few new fans from the 10000 new faces who will be there.
so there are more emails flying about but there’s also been a big marketing campaign aimed at the younger generation that some of us probably haven’t seen. Whatever they are doing is working.
The way ffp now works means we can’t just get cash injections from a wealthy owner. We have to be self sustaining and can only spend a percentage of our revenue so anything that increases revenue is good in my book. This is football nowadays
“ Unless we know how much they are paying their players, there's no way anyone can answer that question.
If you are referring to the enormous transfer fee that they are said to have recently paid, there are (strangely) no restrictions on transfer fees in league one.
As Birmingham are in League One, the P&S rules do not apply to them. They have to comply with the SCMP rules. These place limits on Player Related Expenditure, which includes expenditure such as player wages, by reference to different measures of turnover.
Unlike in higher divisions, a benefactor can inject as much cash as they like, and this injection counts towards one of the relevant turnover measures. However, as I do not believe that transfer fees constitute Player Related Expenditure, they are not relevant in any event.
Assuming they get back into the Championship, they will be faced with a different regime. Given that they made a £25m loss in 2022/23 (and the current permissible loss in the championship is £39m over 3 seasons), it would appear that they take the view that either: i) the Championship rules will not be held by an arbitration panel to apply retrospectively to a period when they were in league one; or ii) the likely punishment they will face in the Championship will be weak and ineffectual (and/or hugely delayed), and they'll be able to absorb it without any negative effects.
The simple truth is that there are only a limited number of places in the Premier League, and the Premier League is the only place where these crazy fees can ever be recouped (and even then, only after a good solid period - we're not as crazy as Brum, and we've just spent £100m...). At some point, even within the current rules, there is surely going to be a high profile financial casualty. Yes we've said this for a long time, but the madness is spreading downwards yet further. There is no relation between what Birmingham have spent and what they can ever hope to recoup. Given how important football clubs are to communities, we need a regulator now.
The crucial announcement today should be that all the turnstiles are fully operational. Get the fundamentals right.
If you want to guarantee getting in on time I reckon you need to be at the turnstiles by 2.30pm or not long after.
I will do. But I want them all to work anyway to stop missing some of the football as late arrivers find their seats. All the effort being put in ought to include making sure the important technology works.

Imagine being this angry at some stock email marketing.
Grandad, it’s ok - you don’t have to do what the scary clock says
Firstly I'm not angry.
I just find the way that the club have handled a game in league one a tad embarrassing.
I never received a quarter of the amount of emails when we were in the Prem playing the likes of Man utd or Liverpool. The way the club is treating a poxy game against Wrexham is quite ridiculous.
I guess it’s another reminder, of how far we’ve sunk, when people get excited about a ‘big match’ in league one.

Woke up this morning to see 2 more ‘closed’ Scarf threads, just wondering if we’ve taken things to new heights, and made them for every club in league one!
I'll be wearing a half Millwall half Cardiff scarf today to really put the cat amongst the pigeons

Go figure.
Not had that since Craig Bellamy last visited..
( Jones is our sheep shagger and doesn't count!)
Last away game. 6 pointer. Winner gets automatic promotion. Let's all get down there to cheer on the boys.
But sadly the club has realised that ain't going to happen so have gone all out on this one.

home fixtures compared to away games.
Oh, hairs, you say.
Mutton Korma……

The allocation will be small and those with the required ‘points’ will still be able to buy whether it was on sale yesterday or Monday.
Weird.
