It’s a tough one, as yes Valley Gold pushes you up the priority order, whixh some seem unfair. But it also supports our brilliant youth academy. I would guess that without this ‘incentive’ that some may not support Valley Gold and therefore the academy would suffer ? *I don’t have Valley Gold btw
Don’t think anyone has an issue with VG being worth points, but I am hoping for some transparency between what it is worth in points. Its already jumped up from 490 to 580 (Due to small allocation given by Southend).
Surely if we get to Wrexham in April and VG is worth 700+ points then it can’t be fair to anyone who travels regularly to watch us.
Of course it's fair. We know the rules and it's up to us to act accordingly if we want priority. If someone can afford to go to every away game they should be able to afford to join Valley Gold. (NB I'm not in Valley Gold).

But we don’t know the rules though, because it changes for every game. Currently the number is randomly picked for each game. Please explain to me how that is fair.
Why was VG only 580 points. Why not 620 points to guarantee priority for Southend ticket.

I’m assuming the number of points varies by allocation size. One of the selling points of Valley gold is that you get some level of priority for away tickets. With only 815 tickets available then Valley Gold gets shifted up, as otherwise it could sell out before getting there I’m guessing.
If it was too low and the away end sold out before it got to VG, then those that buy it could complain and maybe not renew
It would be good if the club released how many fans were at each stage, but I think in general they handle away priority quite well vs some clubs who barely have a system at all
Had not been to The Valley or an away game for as long as I can remember, until Saturday.
When I rang the ticket office, they told me that I could claim 640 'Hollywood/Wrexham' loyalty points immediately which entitled me to 400 Southend tickets, at a reduced cost of 50p a ticket.

It appears to be set so that a continuous S/T holder with VG, will nearly always be able to get a ticket, unless there is a very small allocation like CVPM last season.
No doubt the logic is to ensure that the fans putting the most money into the club get priority (roughly speaking).
If we are going away we're giving money to the opposition and not Charlton (which I've probably done 500 times).
I just can't get my head around why every season fans complain about the rules. If we want top priority we know what the rules are and what we need to do.
We probably have one fixture a season (if that) where the loyalty points system needs to get used at all. It's the fairest it can be IMO, and I have Callum right that if VG stopped giving you priority people would stop paying for membership - I know I would.
I would also bet that anyone who wants a ticket for this Saturday will be able to get one.

Probably be closer to 5 this season, Crawley, Orient, Stockport & Wrexham.
I think people are missing my point. It’s not the ST & VG it’s just the VG part. My mate who goes 1 or 2 games per season will want an Orient/Wrexham away ticket this season. For effectively £60 VG payment he will be guaranteed one. Compared to myself who is currently on 580 points and could be below the threshold come March/April.

Exactly, your mate knows the rules and has taken the required action.

bit that’s just not true.
A season ticket holder with VG has no priority at all here over a non-ST holder with VG. The Season ticket counts for nothing, You can have bot attended a single game in the last two seasons, have 0 points, and put nothing into the club bar a VG subscription, and be able to buy at Phase 5 for your 1st game of the season.
Yes, but my point is (as I said) that if you are a continuous S/T holder (460 points) plus have VG you will almost certainly get a ticket and I believe you will for Southend. As you say you'll be able to buy in phase 5, purely by having VG.

I get what youre saying, but none of those games will sell out before they get to the 500 point mark.
The only games regular away travellers will ever miss out on are freak matches like CVPM last season, and Valley Gold made no difference in that instance anyway.
Should only be allowed to buy the amount of tickets you have loyalty points for. Being able to buy two tickets isn’t fair and I have raised this for many years unless you both have the amount of qualifying loyalty points.
When’s the phase for the people who havent been to a game in 10 years, but still pay into Valkey Gold just in case we get a bumper away draw in the cup, say non league Southend away in round one. There must be hundreds in this category
I can't make it anyway, but this is yet another example of the club sending the phasing details out at the same time they start, rather than in advance, to let people get ready for their phase
No reason why this article couldn't have been published at the weekend or even Friday
