Thought we were good, but 3-0 was perhaps a little flattering. There was a lot of skill in that Chelsea side and but for a little bit of luck they'd have put one or two past us. Not complaining though, it's nice to have a one-way scoreline in our favour.0

msomerton said:I liked the way Hylton coached Tyreece to his goal.
It came from a throw by Berry. Halton instructed Berry how to rake the throw and were to put it. Halton got the ball yelled at Tyreece where to run to and put the ball in his path. Then shouted at him how to get I to tge area to take his shot.
He may be slow but has a good experienced footballing brain. He knows the game well.32 -

He is a shot stopper. His kicking still shaky, and does he command the box , I am not certain.2 -
Hope the club superstore will be selling half and half scarves for the Bromley game.4

After moaning after Wrexham how we were a difficult watch at times that was good. End to end stuff both sides playing football, no one going down for game management. Scoreline flattered us a bit mainly because of Ash having a wonder game and our older heads using their experience.
Rylah looked a bit out of his depth and Zak Mitchell made a few errors, but no one had a bad game. Miles was clearly very happy to score against the club that released him (and looked annoyed to be subbed).1 -
PWR.
£5 to watch our lads outplay the young guns from one of the richest clubs in the land ?
No brainer & SO pleased we made the effort to go tonight.
Just a couple of individual mentions for Terry T, Doc, Ashley and Zach ...all played their parts and more for the team & individually produced some very good football which should have impressed Nathan, albeit it takes something special to make him smile....
Every player in the red shirt should be proud of their performances tonight and the starting eleven in particular should be in the gaffer's plans for the trip to the seaside on Saturday , apart from young Henry Rylah whose time will come.
Those who contributed to this impressive victory will have gained a shed load of confidence tonight.
Just show the same qualities, strength & determination for the remainder of the season and top 6 should definitely be in our sights.
Onwards & upwards !

Yeah, he should have asked one of his brothers, Centimetres or Inches.1 -

If we have to play in this competition at all, it makes the matches slightly more interesting to pit ourselves against elite u21’s rather than a semi-reserve team of sides we already play against or in the division below.7 -
thought zach Mitchell was excellent. should start infront of gillepshey1

Plenty to be encouraged by there, I felt. Quite the cameo from Hylton. Reproduce that in a game that matters and we’ll all have to eat a bit of humble pie.
I was a bit concerned by Assimwe’s performance, far too many potentially costly mistakes and misjudgements to warrant a place in the first XI, and looks like he didn’t even impress at Hartlepool. Hope he can step up again. Unfortunately I agree that while Mitchell was generally imprsssive he too made some bad calls which suggest he shouldnt be thrown in just because of an injury crisis.2 -

And he did impress at Hartlepool; they wanted to keep him.2 -

Would agree r.e Vale, could slot into one of the 2 more advanced midfield roles in our 4222 system.0 -

Nathan Asimwe tends to be a bit of a slow starter, and errors early in his game tend to stay in the memory and influence judgement, it is the reverse for Zach Mitchell as he tires, but his early positive showing stays in the memory.
I thought Asimwe was fine last night, didn’t cause any squeaky bum moments.2 -
Positives- a win-Leaburn and TC scoring- another good performance from TT, my first sight of Zach M.-impressed.
Will we see (South)Eastenders Mitchell bros play together in the 1st team?
Minor negative- Leaburn lying down with cramp 2nd half?0 -
I would guess the only negative would be that Miles, if he wasn’t already, is now very firmly on the list of young guns Chelsea will be looking to sign up for their football sausage factory.0

Unpopular opinion maybe, but thought last night showed why the EFL Trophy could work in its present format.
I mean the competition is never going to be popular, its never going to get high attendances until Wembley in what guise - But for the U21 teams, the games last night will be valuable experience for them, and was quite interesting seeing the technical ability on display from one of the best Academies in the country.
Its clear for those youngsters to advance in the game, that they need exposure against the likes of Miles Leaburn, as the majority will no doubt end up at this level, playing against the Hylton's of the EFL with their ability to perform the dark arts... For those who want to play for Chelsea, or at a higher level, well there is the example to be better than that.
Be interesting if the EFL released some stat which showed the number of U21s who have played in this competition (as its been surprisingly in this format since 2016 now), and have gone on to be regulars in their Premier League team, always going to be difficult of course, but am sure there are some.
Remember James Ward-Prowse saying in an interview once, that he secretly went and trained with Havant & Waterlooville to toughen himself up, ahead of playing First Team Football at a higher level... One day, we might get a England World Cup winner saying that the turning point of his career, was when Danny Hylton pinched his pocket money.1
