Booked on a 6am flight from Athens on Saturday to get to the game.  :(

Look on the bright side, now you don’t have to watch Charlton!
    ..No-one HAS to watch Charlton...🤦‍♂️
I do, court order, they said hanging was too good for me.
  • I just struggle with the anomaly that we are a bang average third tier team yet apparently have a squad of international calibre players 🤔
7 games in L1 off, 2 off in L2 featuring those global giants Tranmere vs Fleetwood and Walsall vs Gillingham.

    That's modern football.

Just three. Five if you include AMB and Kanu.

    So not really a squad.

One other fall out from this is that the Club's Remembrance Service and Armed Forces Day scheduled for the game has had to be cancelled.

There will be a scaled down remembrance v Bromley instead.

This will be the first time we haven't played a home league match in November since 1926

Feels like a welcome relief at present.

Ah - but how may would there be if we didn't have half the squad out injured, Henners...  ;)

Given the horrendous injury list -again - this seems like a mercy. Use the time well, NJ.
I have it on good authority he plans to spend the next 2 weeks looking at recordings of Luton players from 2016 onwards to see if there is any one we can add in the Jan window
Give him some credit feller, he doesn’t use recordings, he uses his memory, recordings can be interfered with…
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mick Hartford getting a run out in the new year

Anderson, Small, Kanu and AMB all played in recent weeks or been on the bench.

If we didn't postpone it, given the call ups and injuries, the best squad we could put out is:

    Maynard-Brewer
    Mitchell Mitchell Gillesphey Edwards
    Coventry Taylor
    Campbell Docherty
    Godden Leaburn

Reid/Maclorg Edmonds-Green Asiimwe Edun Berry Ahadme Hylton

Which lets be honest is asking for a hiding. Hopefully it's pushed back to sometime in January and we have some players back from injury by then

    Pedantic reply that.

The point / observation was  our lowly league status doesn’t suggest we are blessed with what you might once (traditionally) have thought of as international calibre players.

The emoji showed it was tongue in cheek.

    And we're in Dire Straits.
  • My response to this announcement?

    Bugger.

I'm now on holiday so was expecting to miss this (hooray!) but now it's going to be rearranged when I'm back and I'll have no choice but to go because granddaughter no 1 will want to use grandson no 2's season ticket (he doesn't get home from high school until after 4pm which is too late for me to leave to get to an evening kick off - and Tuesday evenings are training nights for his football team - so Hells Bells comes with me instead)

Peterbro are the most inconsistent team in this league one week they score  4/5 next week they lose at teams like Cambridge they been like this for years …don’t think we would have been beaten in Saturday …. But it was the correct call to  call it off , because if we had not and we lost another one or two tonight or during the week fans will saying why did we not call it off when we had the chance

Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell has called on the English Football League to change its rules around postponing games due to international call-ups.

Clubs in League One and League Two can have games postponed if they have three or more players away with their countries, but must request by 17:00 GMT on the Sunday before the following Saturday's game.

On-loan Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Kamari Doyle was called up to England's Under-20 squad on Monday after a player pulled out over the weekend.

Exeter already had Northern Ireland striker Josh Magennis and Finland winger Ilmari Niskanen called up, but the deadline for a postponement had passed.

  • The rules are stupid and if that happened to us (or any club) we'd be rightly pissed off.

I can't imagine it will be too long before league one sits out international weekends as well.

The rules are stupid, we shouldn’t be able to use Dixon as justification to call a game off, he’s played about 5 minutes of league football if that

The rules definitely need looking at, especially when players can be called up so late for international duty. We were lucky Small was called up on Sunday, giving us time to postpone.
  • Maybe we should actually use the players who are good enough for international squads and see if they do better than the teams we do put out?

Perhaps the rules should be that you can only postpone games where the players called up have played a certain amount of League matches to date / played in the last x number of matches (like the rules for the BSM competition).

Would stop teams like CAFC calling off games where Dixon hasn't started a match & Anderson has been in & out much of the season.

Think it’s reached the point where it makes the most sense to just call them all off. I understand it’s a pain and we all want as much Saturday 3pm football as possible but it’s more fair if everyone plays midweek

I understand that when players pull out of their international squad that they need to be replaced.
But if they are called up so late that the league team can't call the game off then they should be allowed to not release the player.

Conor Coventry being called up yesterday highlights this. We would have been seriously disadvantaged if we were still playing today.
