Like I alluded to I know nothing about Ferguson I just saw he was available for loan. I then looked up his stats, and added them to my post. If, as it seems, many of you know, he's too good for us, then fair enough, I was just mentioning what I'd read!
I really hope any potential new signings are not dependant on offloading unwanted players. Primarily because I doubt anybody wants whoever we are selling. Terry Taylor might be the exception but I desperately hope that Jones has changed his tiny mind about getting shot of him. I haven't any confidence we will bring in anybody to excite, more likely more Duracell bunnies. Jones has never once commented or hinted that we need more creativity or attacking width so I don't expect any creative midfielders or wingers. I've lost faith. I do just about think Jones needs to be given longer, but following Charlton now I feel like one of those Polar Bears they used to have in tiny enclosures at London Zoo, displaying anguished repetitive behaviour that speaks of mental distress. Joyless.
Send Allan Campbell back to Luton, send Karoy on loan to League 2, make Doherty 3rd choice DM behind Coventry and Taylor.
All you gotta do then is bring in 2 attack minded CMs - 1 loan and 1 perm - and get Evan Ferguson in on loan with an option to buy in the summer.
It not rocket science guys!
Apparently, after my post, Ferguson is too good for us according to some. If that's the case sobeit, but why not try, or are we going to go after dross again because players are to good for us? Surely we need to try for some good youngsters?

His market value is £45m and he's played near on 100 games for Brighton at the age of 20 including a long injury lay out. If he goes on loan it will either be top end Championship or bottom end of the PL. It would be an utter waste of time and would make us look like a laughing stock to Brighton who then would have even more doubts about sending an actual candidate out on loan to us.

For some added context Brighton have one player on loan in L1 this season, Odeluga Offiah at Blackpool. He has played a total of 260 minutes for their first team. That's roughly the level of player you're looking for
Wish I'd never mentioned Ferguson! Note to self, check all stats, value etc before mentioning any player, or better still don't mention anyone and let others give ideas!

I get you may not follow as much but to anyone who has watched Premier League football over the last 2 years, Ferguson is a complete no go. Hence the responses you've had. He was linked with Man U for £70m+ at one point and although has struggled at Brighton since returning from injury, the best side in the championship would likely snap your hands off for him on loan, let alone the sides in the bottom half of the Prem. For a young player to come to Charlton on loan from the prem it is more likely to be someone who has yet to experience senior football like Gallagher and Rak Sakyi or someone who has impressed on loan in League two rather than someone who has proven themselves in the premier league
I would really like to see some pace in the team so I would make that a priority.
Dixon is the fastest player at the club but Jones won’t consider him because we’re already blessed with an abundance of goals. I wonder how long it is before Dixon thinks fuck this I’m off.

He’s only been here a few months. Keep playing well and scoring goals for the u21s and Jones won’t be able to ignore him. I would guess he’s still catching up on certain things such as the step up in fitness levels and maybe what Jones expects from him tactically.

Quite a long time I suspect. He seems like a very nice, humble young man who still has a lot of physical developing to do. He just did an interview talking about how he's looking forward to getting another first team opportunity, he'll wait his turn and take the opportunity when it comes.
When you get to the point that you sell the leagues top goalscorer & dont adequately replace him then it really doesn't matter who you sign after that.
We started with our top 3 strikers yesterday. Being generous you might say 3 out of 4 of our best strikers. And none scored. Against at the worst team in the League. For context this seasons top goalscorer (Barry) scored 3 on his own on Saturday.
When you have this manager & this SMT in place then I wouldn't trust them in the proverbial brewery.
You lot who discuss loans should remember that Nathan Jones does not like loans so loans will not happen, of course if young Nathan is "loaned" out they might happen

That's a laugh.... what Jones expects from him tactically!!! Don't go past anyone son, using pace and skill. Just pass backwards or sideways or lump it up 100 ft in the air expecting the useless Ahadme to get on the end of it!!
Hylton was taken on as player/coach. So keep him as a coach, he can teach the youngsters about 'shithousery', just don't put him in the matchday squad, put Dixon there.
I’d rather someone coached them to put the ball in the net

I nearly added (don't laugh) at the end of that point. There will be reasons Dixon hasn't had many first team minutes, even if we don't agree with them.

But will Jones want loans, will the board sanction the cost and and will Scott be kept away from the decision making?

Send Campbell back if we can
Say goodbye to Potts and Hylton
Assimwe to be loaned out
Sell Small if we can get money
Extend Jones contract
Loan in 2 prem players who can pass the ball in the attacking half
I know the above seems very conservative but I am thinking what the management will think .
- Loan out Asiimwe to the National League and Anderson to League Two
- Sell Watson and Edun
- Let go of Potts and Hylton
- Send back A.Campbell
- Sign a right back who is actually capable of challenging Ramsay and is good cover whilst he's out
- Sign a centre midfielder who is comfortable enough on the ball but is also strong and aggressive
- Sign a creative attacking midfielder to create chances and pick a pass with the right weight and decision making
- Sign a winger who is quick and capable of driving us up the pitch
- Sign Joe Taylor on loan from Luton as he's quick, very good in front of goal, and would learn from Godden and help out players like Kanu and Dixon
However, is any of that likely to happen? We need it if we are to improve. When you get to the point that you sell the leagues top goalscorer & dont adequately replace him then it really doesn't matter who you sign after that.
