Well sure, it was over the top for me to imply he was personally all over this thread, but there's nothing magic about journalism. You gather information, a lot of it eventually unusable. How do you and @fenaddick think an outlet like that works? It'll be 72, not 92, for starters. Contacts alone won't generate the sheer volume of "stuff" that thing needs with its click based biz model. Do you think that Charlie Methven says to himself, "yeah,OK, Nathan wants this Clucas guy, I'll just call Pete "O'Rourke and let him know"?. At a guess I'd say FLW looks for at least one contact within the fanbase who seems to be somewhat ITK and gets a kick out of trading "gossip" with a journo. In our fanbase I can think of at least one prime candidate. They might also have a kid who is paid little or no money to log the highest volume fan sites for each club, and then the transfer thread on each one. Once it's set up, that wouldn't take much to monitor. And yes, if it doesn't exist already they'll soon have an AI platform that can do the kid's work.fenlandaddick said:
Rumour has it he has 92 AI bots doing the work for him.fenaddick said:
Love the idea you have the Pete O'Rourke spends his days on the rumours threads of forums for all 92 EFL & PL clubs so that he can tweet out the stuff he readPragueAddick said:So here on this thread we are completely devoid of any new rumours about ins and outs at Charlton. And purely by coincidence, so is Mr Pete O'Rourke.
PR comms agencies work in a very similar way.3 -
I think that's Docherty's more natural role so he'd slot in there. They might also be thinking about Mitchell (younger) when he's back.Exiled_Addick said:

You need to separate FLW and Pete O'Rourke first off @PragueAddick, they aren't linked at all. O'Rourke works for Footy Insider and he will get a lot of his stuff from contacts, he's been in the game for a very very long time.PragueAddick said:

FLW to me seems more like someone who tried to set something up out of uni and realised how hard it is to make a career in sports journalism (part of why I never bothered trying!). Most of their stuff is opinion made to look like fact, it's pretty standard clickbait stuff. They seem to have tapped into smaller fan content creators (podcasts, vlogs etc) who they think might be useful. As they grow they might start getting some people who have more contacts, seems they were bang on with both Luton sacking Edwards and (probably) hiring Bloomfield so they clearly have someone there. You're right they'll probably get AI involved at some point if they haven't already.
For now when it comes to transfers Cawley is usually reliable (although definitely seems less active this season?), O'Rourke and Darren Witcoop often have some truth behind it but aren't gospel and everything else needs a very very large pinch of salt. Only Cawley is likely to be being briefed from our side the majority of the time. The Clucas rumour for example was most likely his agent using us as there's a link to NJ4 -
You're right. Apologies Pete..for that at least. There must have been a post from FLW that someone posted up that linked to his page. Mind you Footy Insider has a "fans' section, which seems to mainly use Twitter as the source, I guess that's what the intern does...fenaddick said:

Seems a bit like the situation with Alfie, leading goal scorer in the division but he kept being substituted. TT certainly better option than Campbell, it's almost like he's being forced out. Jones has talked about how TT has worked hard etc etc but still can't make the bench most of the time.AndyG said:I honestly can’t see how he doesn’t get into our squad4 -

Don't really buy that. Stuff gets out agents talk to press etc...

Agree. I think he could easily play CDM. Potential to be a poor man’s Declan RiceSouthbank said:

What happens if Coventry, a key player to how we are currently playing, gets injured? Taylor is the most like for like replacement. If you put any of the other midfielders into that position then it would seriously reduce the effectiveness of our current system. We have other options to offer what Campbell does, discounting the fact Campbell has been very poor in almost all his appearances.Callumcafc said:

Can rule out a regular name that's appeared on countless transfer threads over the years , Marcus Browne has joined AFC Wimbledon.

Now he’s playing in the Persian Gulf Pro League this will be the first window for a long time with no mention of Mo Eisa.
Shame. I thought he was a sure banker to join at some point.6 -
Possibly they both indicated to NL they were looking to move and he didn't want to pick players unless they were fully committed.charltonbob said:
