Nevermind, wrong player in regards to "unnamed league one club"

Still gives it a bit of legs though.

    Ties in with this:

"Middlesbrough are prepared to let Daniel Barlaser leave this month. Derby and an unnamed League One club have made an enquiry. Defender Matt Clarke is also on Derby’s radar while fellow Boro midfielder Alex Gilbert could now depart on loan. #boro #dcfc"

Replaced Finn Azaz in their last game in the 81st minute. General consensus seems to be that he needs game time and that's he rated.

Could be a bit of a sleeper signing for us. If he's good enough to be part of the match day squad for Boro, he's probably good enough to be part of ours.
Freddie Ladapo and Luke Berry were very highly rated, Ladapo was dreadful while Luke Berry has been average while on the other hand, no one really knew much about Josh Edwards or Thierry Small and they’ve been excellent. When it comes to Charlton in 2025 I just can’t judge a player anymore on previous experience 😂

Barlaser would be an interesting rumour too. Although probably far too similar to Doc and Coventry for it to be us. Would think if Rotherham could get him back they would.

Checking FM, he’s a left footed 10 who can also play out wide or up front. Only 23 and not played much first team football.

He’s also 6 ft so passes the height test.

English born but played for Ireland u21s and u19s.

Not particularly exciting as a name, not made a huge amount of appearances and name is far too close to Alex Gilbey for my liking, in fact the latter is influencing more of my opinion than anything else here, happy to see how he gets on though. Didnt know what to expect from Josh and he's obviously been great
Maybe he was the guy we were supposed to have signed in the first place but ended up with Alex Gilbey in error.

If this the player, I think this could be a good signing, good age. A lot to prove. Seems very much like Ramsey and Small type of signing. Young, hungry, talented and lot to prove. But would like to get them on a permanent

So a teammate of Coventry for Ireland?

Never heard of him but that says more about me than him.

Certainly that profile matches what we need and have said to be looking for.

Having been at Brentford a move to the Smoke won't phase him either.

A Brummie to keep Thierry Small company. Indeed both might have been in the WBA academy at the same time, though Gilbert is 3 years older.

Boro just recently signed Whittaker from Plymouth as well so pushes Gilbert further down the pecking order. Would assume they’ll let him go out on loan but no chance we’d secure him on a permanent, if we are interested.

Why no chance, wages? At his age I’d imagine at some point he’ll want regular first team football.

He's been a decent signing, if we got the version that Rotherham had back in 2021-22... Got nine goals at this level for them, which is just what we need from a Midfielder

Thankfully Rotherham have changed Manager since he was last there

"He'll be great, got a lovely touch and can see passes others don't; needs a striker to be on his wavelength. I'm a bit gutted he could be going, think he could be great, Carrick loves Finn Azaz though!"

Fair play if his competition is Finn Azaz and Whitaker, he's not breaking through with those 2 ahead of him . Probably a good one to get in now and then assess in the summer depending on how things go.

Obviously very fake, but I wouldn't want him anyway, as every player we've signed from Citeh have been pants. We could sign Haaland and Foden from them and they'd probably combine for about 20 appearances and a solitary goal between them

For many windows Rod Fanni was similarly linked because of his name .Amusingly he did end up playing for us.

Ah same line of thinking that meant we ended up with Lyle Taylor...

Barlaser was on my hitlist a couple of years ago - he was excellent.  His move hasn't worked out too well for him but he was a fine player in his Rotherham days
