This is a very sad state of affairs now. Many of us are thinking the best we can hope for is a point against a team that's bottom of the division with just 1 win! What have we become? Over the weekend I was advocating NOT dumping NJ, as constantly changing managers every few months hasn't worked. However, lose this and the clamour for his head will grow. Yet, for me, it's Charlieboy, Scott and Rodwell that should be binned off, but not Wednesday, it should be today!! They are full of BS and don't really care about our club, whereas I believe that NJ does. We need the 'owners' to see through the 3 amigos and say "thanks, but no thanks"!, then ask NJ what he wants, give it to him on the proviso results improve or he can look elsewhere by February. As for tomorrow I hope and pray we win, I want to see Dixon involved alongside TC and ML or Godden, get them delivering crosses into the box. Taylor for the ineffective and suspended Docherty, Berry for Anderson. Hoping it's a 2-0 victory to help restore confidence in players and supporters alike.
I haven't posted much of late for various reasons - one of them being that I am invariably lost for words when it comes to our performances recently.
I DO read all the post match thoughts & watch matches via a stream if we're unable to attend in person which are mainly the away treks further than the Midlands these days.
It goes without saying that long journeys/overnighters are getting increasingly expensive as well as tiring but my appetite for supporting away from home has diminshed this season & I don't believe there's a need to explain why. And, sadly, I'm certain that I'm not alone.
My support for our club will always be 100%. That's a given.
But, for whatever reasons, what we're witnessing currently is unacceptable IMO.
As I write this, a young Ipswich player has just scored a stunning goal against the mighty Reds. His team are more than holding their own & the equaliser was well deserved. A club we've played against season after season is now 2 divisions above us and fighting to stay in the Land of Milk & Money. Good luck to them.
But for me, climbing to those heights is something I fear I may never see again unless something changes exponentially ; something that shows every Addick that the owners recognise that major changes must be made before it's too late ; before the faithful really lose their faith & our club's trajectory is clearly on a downwards path and gaining pace in that direction.
If the owners & the team overseeing their interests in SE7 haven't acknowledged the seriousness of the current situation then we really ARE in more trouble than we thought. I'd suggest that they talk directly with the fans, NOT trust the likes of Scott & Rodwell to relay their conversations with supporter representatives. They need to be fully aware of the concerns & the depth of despair felt by the lifeblood of this club before it's too late.
And before the January transfer window slams shut.
So, no surprise that I fail to offer any suggestions as to what's required ..that's not my job. My support is from the heart, not the head. I am merely one of thousands who give my time and money in support of our club and expect better for doing so.
Regarding the immediate future - the match only 2 days away in Burton - I'd suggest that another product of our esteemed Academy be seated on the bench with the prospect of entering the field of play when required in a brave effort to change the game. We've recently witnessed his speed, skill and determination so what is there to lose ?
Step forward Kai Enslin.
And that, in a nutshell, says it all. When even the staunchest begin to waver then the slippery slope beckons. Hard to read that Jean but I can’t disagree with a word.
I’ll be at my usual Tuesday night quiz night in the pub and I won’t be risking the wrath of Mrs SB by sneaking the stream on my phone hidden behind the menu because, frankly, I can’t be arsed. As I listed on Saturday night, more in sorrow than in anger, the football is excruciating to watch, Brown is excruciating to listen to and Jones angers me more by the day. As Jean says, we’ll always be supporters, but I just can’t work up any enthusiasm at the moment.
As to the match, let’s just cut to the chase here folks. A randomly selected 11 from our readership, including those of us with one leg and otherwise infirm could probably give Burton a decent game, so anything less than victory is unthinkable and should see the end of Nut Job’s reign. Sadly, it’s not beyond the bounds of possibility, well at least the result bit as I don’t think old Maroon pants and his mates have the cohones or the money to sack him.
I hope if we have appealed Docherty’s ban it’s to increase it rather than reduce it as, frankly he was no less visible off the pitch that he has been on it. Otherwise as to the team, to be honest I couldn’t give a half and half scarf who Nut Job selects as it’s pretty irrelevant if we stick to the hoofball missive.
1-0 home win and utter carnage ensues. Most probably, a dire 1-0 win with one off Hilton’s arse to just about keep the pantomime on the road for another week. Bah Humbug or is it too early?
We never seem to do well up at Burton. Wouldn't be surprised if it was another draw. Trying to predict a lineup seems completely futile with NJ ATM but would be a bit surprised if Leaburn started even if it was just "cramp"
This has a home win written all over it, with *checks notes for an ex CAFC player* a Harry Isted masterclass in goal, culminating in a goal from a long kick that gets caught by the high winds and sails over AMBs head.
Team picks itself with the amount of injuries
AMB REG Mitchell Gillesphey Edwards Coventry Taylor Anderson Campbell Godden Small

Would probably be my team, but it's dire whoever we choose, let's be honest
I think Berry has to start. He's really the only midfielder who I'd back to get on the score sheet
That is true but it is about picking a balanced midfield. Berry, Coventry and Taylor are the best 3 midfielders we have, but a midfield 3 of them is probably lacking a bit of bite that you need in league 1. So we probably need 1 of A.Campbell, Anderson or Docherty playing even though they all aren’t playing that well

I'm actually coming round to the idea of Taylor and Coventry holding with Berry as a 10 and Taylor allowed to push up a bit more. Coventry is a good tackler, they're just not Hollywood crunch tackles

Coventry would have to really carry that midfield defensively. In a game where we were going to dominate possession it would be fine, but we don’t do that very often, especially away from home
Berry has done his best work from the bench, I’d start Anderson and bring Berry on
I’m also not sure you can start both Berry and Godden with the style and intensity Jones wants to play. Especially when you add a not fully fit Leaburn into the mix. Just not enough energy and running for what Jones wants
If we don't win this then Jones will have a massive amount of heat on him and i just don't think we have a win in us at the moment. He has to play Taylor if he's fit , also Berry and i'd ditch Anderson who has absolutely no affect on games as far as i can see.
I don't feel confident at all, Burton usually look quite decent I find, maybe a testament to how s**t we are. I know they're bottom at the moment, but we are playing like a team that could be bottom ourselves.
I'm thinking draw at best, 1-1. I think this will be the moment where fans really start to get fed up.
I don't believe for even a second that tomorrow the team will offer up good football, and even if they do, it will just be a little blip. The writing is on the wall for this season imo and I'm already thinking about next season.
I think this might be what Jones was alluding to in his interview after the game. He mention old issues from last season still here (my take on what he said - cant remember the exact quote) and I think he meant we have a player who he cant call upon as he's almost always injured......and nothing has changed since Jones took the job.
There are a few who could fit that bill Golfie but Chuks is probably the man in the frame. Chuks is in his last season and although people have been calling for a while for his contract to be paid up, that's probably something the club, agent and player would have to look at. Thierry Small is probably looking at going in January if a suitor can be found. Edun is not fancied by the manager so another one either loaned out or gone. You never know with the money saved from those three we might buy some width and centre half, then again maybe not.

I'd not be surprised if Aneke does not start another game for us.

Genuinely not expecting any variation from our performance saturday. We go out and within fifteen minutes are being pressed back into our own half, and at some point the deence goes to sleep and we go a goal behind. Second half we come out a bit more fired up and begin to attack, but with the ususal mistakes creeping in, but in the end, we dont have enough and we lose.
The variation here is Burton. They seem to be the current whipping boys in league 1, but we are very far fro being a side who have the players to take advantage of that, so if we get something out of this, I would expect it to be from their defence being worse than ours.
I'm hoping that any appeal regarding Dochertys red card are thrown out. Regardless of whether it was a red or not, we don't need that guy if we are hoping to play good football, and a captain who gets himself sent off in such a stupid fashion is not one I want to see on the pitch for us again.

Hopefully the appeal fails and he gets further games added to his suspension

Agree with both of these. No disrespect to Burton, but if the players fit and available cannot get a win 2mo night, then quite frankly, they shouldn't be playing for us, regardless of whether or not some of them wouldn't be first choice.
A draw isn't good enough, nor a scrappy win. Tomorrow night should be a statement and if we don't win, it will mark the beginning of the end for NJ, and as Braziliance points out, snuff out a dim slither of light that this team is capable of making anything out of this season

Early Christmas present for Burton.
1-0
And NJ waffles on.
