I’ll check out L’Isle Sur La Sorgue next year when I’m in the South of France. I was in Aix en Provence earlier this year.
What was that like? We are thinking of spending a week down there next year, mixing coast for a day or two, L’Isle Sur La Sorgue and Avignon but did see signs to Aix en Provence on the way to L’Isle Sur La Sorgue.
Thanks all, I have been told about the water and ice, we will only be drinking bottled water throughout, brush our teeth with that etc. but Imodium will be taken
We have a private scuba diving as part of the hotel on its own little beach so will be looking to do that at some point.
Just generally looking forward to going and it'll be the first time I venture out of Europe.
Only drink room temperature water, ice cold can potentially shock your system and make you unwell. The doctor told me that when I got ill out there.

Only spent a couple of days in Aix but it was extremely hot at the time which curtailed some sight seeing. However, we did go to Valensole to see the lavender and sunflower fields - the small town of Valensole is worth a visit. We also went to Guissan for oysters - recommend La Pearle Gruissanaise.

I'd recommend Aigues Mortes for a day trip too - a bit to the west but worth seeing.

They're not cheap but you can get amazing water filter bottles now. I spent 9 weeks travelling through Asia and often drank tap water through my filter bottles without ever getting ill. Do your research! For me, it was way better than the hundreds of plastic bottles I would otherwise have had to use.
Just back from a superb long weekend away in Kilkee. Spent some time in Kilrush, Carrigaholt and Ennis too. Great to catch up with family and retrace the steps I took in the summers of my youth. Up the banner!
In Sharm el Sheikh at the moment, what a beautiful place. My new Charlton Hawaiian shirt had its first outing last night. The only comment was from an older gentleman who said it reminds him of Only Fools and Horses and Rodney Charlton Trotter!! I smiled politely and moved on. Seriously though, the resort is amazing, snorkelling is some of the best I have done, it’s free and it is only off a short floating pontoon.

What hotel are you staying in?. Weve been a couple of times before but looking to go again in December so looking for some recommendations. Many Russians there?.
Currently in Sharm now, staying at Charmillion Club Resort.
They provide bottled water, you only need to ask. All of the water here is bottled, the normal water is not drinkable for the locals either.
Came back from the camel riding this evening, really good experience to be fair.
Very hot here, as you’d expect. But even at 8-9am in the morning it’s roasting.
Going to the old market and Soho Square tomorrow. The latter is a non-haggling area so might be able to get some decent stuff to bring back from the old market at a much cheaper price, we’ll see.
Would definitely recommend Sharm, just wouldn’t go any earlier in the summer than this, this heat is enough, going in say July would have been unbearable!

We were told there were a lot of Russians in August but hardly heard any here so far this week.

went to Soho Square two evenings ago, it is like a Christmas market in the desert, a bit weird.
Again, hardly any Russians
Thanks for the link Justin. I will take a look. Will definitely be looking to go back for some winter sun.
Glad to hear that most of the Russians have pissed off back to their own country. They should be banned from travelling any where, but that's for another time.
Started walking the Camino Frances across Northern Spain on Friday. Currently in Pamplona. Approximately 730 kms to go until we arrive in Santiago de Compostela on 14th October.
Now close to half way through the Camino but one of the best days was the first walking over the Pyrenees from France into Spain with three of my sons.

Awesome. Brings back memories of when me and my dad went to Santiago de Compostella.

Just back from France, just over 3 weeks away, 1,900+ miles driven (furthest we went was Canet near Perpignan) and most nights camping....I need another holiday.
As much discussed on the match thread I've just walked 6 days of the Camino Frances. Not sure I will ever do the whole thing, but that small section (though still 128km) was a great experience. Hats off to those who walk the whole thing.
Beforehand I spent a few days in Madrid. Did the Real Madrid stadium tour, which is expensive but well worth it. You get to see all over the rebuilt stadium, which is as you'd expect, really impressive.

Just got back from Cancun

I'm really looking forward to it. In desperate need of a holiday.
Looks like naples and mount vesuvius to me
