Some of those suggested on here would be great choices but highly unlikely; - Selles and Robins will go to the Championship I expect. - Clough and Challiner will never move south for a L1 job. - Lyndsey only just joined MKD - Darren Moore would be a very interesting choice and maybe would be possible?
Looking at alternatives; Peter Clarke, Wes Morgan and Ritchie Humphreys are all either Player Reps on the PFA or have been. I always think that shows a certain maturity and leadership and would expect it to lead to a lot of contacts in the game so maybe one of them as a risky wildcard.
Scouting clearly needs huge investment and Scott is massively overdue binning.
No one …. stability is the key and Jones has 4 year deal and we are only just started the 4 year plan … he needs another two windows yet to get the squad balanced
Michael Skubala's name is coming up a lot. Wonder what happened the last time we went for a manager who had done surprisingly well in L1 with Lincoln..

Oh leave off you clown, he doesn't deserve another single minute at our club he can fuck off and take his shit football with him
I've been firmly in the give him til the end of the season camp, but even I'm losing patience now. Fuck him off and get curbs in. Back to basics, everyone galvanised behind the manager. I don't care if he has been out the game "too long", the game hasn't changed that much and there's no risk of his reputation being tarnished as we are firmly at rock bottom and everyone would realise it is not his fault
A concern I have is that if the Americans have no intention of selling, do they know who to go to for good advice on new recruitment.
Yes, the SMT !!
Seriously, they have trusted Charlie and his gang but unfortunately know nothing themselves about football so would they know where to turn to next, I doubt it. Instead they may decide to cut there losses and sell to the highest bidder.
Might be a good idea for Peter Varney to introduce himself to the Americans. Unless they've completely thrown in the towel they could be very receptive once they Google his CV.
Edit - I meant contacting them with a view to running the club in place of the SMT not buying it, though that might be of interest to all parties too
I had such high hopes for Jones. I sadly don’t think a lot of the names mentioned would want to come tbh. I think we could go for another former Stoke boss but who knows.
Start from the top. Get rid of Rodwell, Methven and Scott. Then employ an old head as Director of Football to choose a young man as Head Coach/Manager. (Under 40)
Some of the best managers at Charlton were at the Valley under the age of 40. Lennie, Curbs, Seed
Who gets rid of them . Aren’t they the part of the actual behind the scenes set up ?
Dave Challinor - His Stockport side had a bad day at the office vs us, but the table don't lie, and he's had them playing decent football for years. I don't think he'd leave for us, but he'd get it done I reckon.
Michael Skubula - Very decent record at Lincoln, hasn't quite got them going as much this season, but apparently he's been dealt a low hand. Hard to ignore his run of form at the back end of last season. I think with better resources he could achieve more
Darren Moore (probably no1 choice) - Very impressive record at West Brom and Doncaster all things considered. Sheffield Wednesday did a great job. Small blip at Huddersfield who were destined for relegation, and now doing a fantastic job so far this season with Port Vale. I think as a character, our fan base will warm to him a bit more. He's a man of the people type and isn't quite as cold as Appleton and Jones.
Ruben Selles - doing ridiculously well at Reading considering their circumstances. Reckon he will end up with a championship gig, looking like Hull atm, but he would get us playing attractive football.
Moore is probably the only realistic option out of those. Would be very happy with that
I think Challinor is a completely no go. He will see out this season and go from there. I think there's a chance with Skubula, would be a bit of a sideways move for him, but one that has more potential as we can simply just spend more than them.
I think Moore would be a great choice personally, as a Charlton outsider, he strikes me as someone who would build a good rapport with us.

Didn’t he sign a really long contract with Vale? Imagine he’ll be expensive
Luckily, we have mega rich owners who love the club apparently. Shouldn't be a problem paying off a manager and getting a new one.

The owners. Who else would get rid of them?
Which ones? . There are more than one set of investors

Firstly, can I say that I hope your mum is doing well after her diagnosis. Secondly, you need to understand, it's not about the length of his contract. The football being served up is crap! It's essentially his squad, his tactics, his Plan A. Another 2windows isn't going to change his methodology, it's how he sets up to play and it's driving people away. I was on his side, but Tuesday was the straw that finally broke the camels back. Sticking with him is admirable, but unless he does a complete u-turn in his tactics we're going nowhere but backwards!

Out of work manager who has been promoted three times including out of L1.
If he does go, I’d want Rowett, but the options available are not inspiring
Didn't someone mention before Jones was appointed that Neil was interviewed???

No respect for NJ , I'd think.

Ryan Lowe
Gary Rowett
Michel Skubala
Any of them for me.
