We’ll win this. They are even worse than us. Jones has lucked out getting this fixture just when another loss should rightly see him off. It won’t be pretty though.

If by any chance I’m wrong, taxi for Jones.
  • First home league game I will miss for several years - family commitments - so it's bound to be a cracker of a home win! COYA!
  • I'll be there but without any sense of excitement and anticipation.
It would be nice to watch us attack with purpose and ruthlessness against these hapless nonentities.
Instead I expect us to shrink to their level. Joyless.
  • Missing this game due to clash with a wedding. Mixture of some relief at not going with FOMO leading up to the game. I am hopeful that we can win this, points are needed as is a confidence boost.
  • So we have never lost to them......2-1.
  • Don't panic everyone i'm going to this with some non-Charlton fan mates from work and they have a 100% win record 4/4 (last time was Barnsley at home last year) they are under the impression we are untouchable world beaters HAHAHA!

Jones the draw is back….. a stunningly dull 1-1 that he will claim, as the start of the new era…..

Very hard one to gauge.  Absolutely no idea who will play. If we lose or draw and play badly, the crowd will make it very clear how they feel and pressure will ramp up on jones. This lot are in terrible form, worse than us, but so were Bristol Rovers and they totally outplayed us. I’m praying for an upturn, but predict a 1:2 defeat
Anything other than a resounding victory for Charlton and Jones will be gone (or should be) by the time the World Darts Championship starts on Sunday.

Another shocking defeat should see him on his way before Strictly starts on Saturday evening.
I doubt our owners care about darts or Strickly.

It strikes me as ironic that Duchatelet was shouted down for suggesting supporters go dancing after the match, but for twenty years the flagship Saturday evening TV programme in the UK has been a dancing competition programme.
  • This reverse fixture at Field Mill, was my first ever fixture as a 6 year old in the 70's. The 3-0 scoreline in our favour, had me spellbound, not, it was actually the crowd that I showed more interest in. Alas, it IS now the crowd that offers more entertainment value than the players.

Whether it's a 1-0 deflected goal of Ahadme's arse, a win is desperately needed.

Two teams in awful form. It won't be pretty, but it will be the crowd reaction from the Covered End or Jimmy Seed, that tells us all we need to know at full-time.

  • A must win game for Jones

  • I hope we don’t see Laqeretabua at RWB, from what I’ve seen he’s very much a CB who could cover RB as a purely defensive player. Wouldn’t be fair on him to throw him in and give him a job that doesn’t suit his game.
  • Always optimistic... until kickoff.
  • For one reason or another I haven't been to a game since v Stockport in October, so massively looking forward to this one. I suspect it might be the first sign of dementia.
  • Missing this game due to clash with a wedding. Mixture of some relief at not going with FOMO leading up to the game. I am hopeful that we can win this, points are needed as is a confidence boost.
    Fear of missing a 0-0 draw with Mansfield.  If there’s a free bar , you’re winning .
  • First weekend home game for 7 weeks means it's been ages since I've been to a game with the boy, so there's the day out to look forward to.
  • It is a real feat even for our club to turn the sentiment of the fans to such a level that even 3 points today won’t be enough if it’s the normal dross !! Match day for me normally starts with a great sense of anticipation but nowadays it oh no not this shit again
  • If Mansfield can string a few passes together, we haven’t got a chance.
  • Home to Mansfield and most fans either don’t want to go or predicting yet another loss , what a time to be alive 1-2 & jones says the players didn’t do what they was supposed to yet again.

All fans want is to be entertained a bit and see effort - none of us are that hard to please

    • This will be just the third league meeting between Charlton Athletic and Mansfield Town and the first match between the pair since the Addicks won 3-0 in April 1978.
    • Mansfield Town have won just two of their last 10 away Football League games against sides from London (D3 L5), keeping just two clean sheets across that time.
    • At home in League One this season, Charlton have faced chances from their opponents worth just 5.2 xG in total, the lowest such tally in the competition.
    • Mansfield have lost each of their last five league games in succession and could lose six in a row for the first time since November 2013.

Can anyone explain how if our xG is so good, why are we so shit?

All xG does is tell you how good a goalscoring chance was. It doesn't tell you that we might only have 1 or 2 in a match, whereas the opposition might have 4 or 5.
  • We'll win, Jones will mouth off, and the few fans left who 'trust the process' will be giving it on here and twitter about how right they've been all along. Then we won't pick up another point until the new year.

    2-0 Charlton
  • As usual, I will be there but it is difficult to get excited about the game. I am expecting more of the same aimless pinball machine tactics with little skill in directing either passes or headers to a fellow teammate in a red shirt. This team is bringing little joy.
    I'm going for a disappointing 1-1 draw.
On the bright side I am travelling by train which is an obvious highlight for any Charlton fan....

That’s defensive xG, it shows we’re limiting chances for the opposition when at home which I think is evident. Main issue is the other end of the pitch
  • Missing the game today due to family commitments. Telling that I am completely unbothered about not being there.

Will watch on from afar but imo we need both a performance and a result to stop the axe from swinging.

    2-0 Charlton
Even the most delusional can’t think there’s a process
  • To put a little context to Mansfield's run of 5 defeats Wycombe, Huddersfield, Bristol R, Wrexham, Bolton.
  • We’ll win this. I’m going 2 - 0 but without a dominant display. We’ll stumble to enough points to keep Jones in his job and end the season mid table and yet again treading water as a club.
  • Said to my 5 month old this morning we’re going Charlton today and he laughed and then whinged straight after. Thought it summed up being a Charlton fan quite well recently. If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry… 😂

I do actually think we’ll get a win today though. Don’t ask me how.

The way NJ was talking in pre match, we’re going with a back 3 and wingbacks so expect to see TC at wingback again.

Beyond that, who knows. Just hope we can come away with 3 points.
