When did Chicken George bail out? I was just in the mood for some overpriced dried Chicken today.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought it was overpriced dry food . My chicken strips were like chewing cardboard the one and only time I bought from them.
They went bust after embarrassing themselves with their association with our goal of the month sponsorship. Like their chicken, our goals have dried up.
Anyone that thought it was overpriced and dry, obviously has never purchased any other food from the ground. Fans bar food is even more expensive, shitter and dryer than CG.
Many people liked it and it was incredibly popular. Personally I don't see how our fan zone works in the winter anyway.

Heard that they don’t do wings and their legs have gone.

Yeah I went to the fans bar (north stand) a couple of weeks ago for the first time (at "that" Tuesday game) and whilst there was nothing particularly wrong with the food itself, £12 for two TWO pieces of slightly larger than nugget sized chicken and some fries I thought was taking the piss, even by London standards.
The chicken George I had way back when we beat Birmingham I thought was decent enough for the money.

It WAS overpriced and dry regardless of any comparison with other stadium food. You can buy food from other places locally you know, where it may be less dry and overpriced. It just didn't seem worth paying the premium. If it was so incredibly popular where has it gone? or was it never scheduled for winter?

I'm confused, was it a different price v Birmingham, or better quality? or does the perceived value vary according to the result?, you seem to be contradicting yourself.

I think you need to try reading it again. One was chicken George in the fan zone. The other was in the fans bar and was not chicken George, I forget what the branding was.
Sounds about as successful a partnership as NordVPN, the data security experts announced just a month or 2 before our IT systems had a security ‘incident’.

So some local non football food is cheap, so it means CG is over priced ?. It's a completely different point than I was making but that's absolutely fine. Just to be clear, the award winning food is priced exactly the same in the shops that they have running everywhere else including St Albans fc where it also does incredibly well too (hense us taking them on).
Some don't like it and that's fair enough, but you can buy cheap beer in Sainsbury's so that argument never really stands up.

This. Every time I’ve been to The Fan Zone the CG van has been really busy they probably make a fortune each time I’d be surprised if they dropped out.
It was advertised as being there yesterday too so assume it still was?

I quite liked the fan zone on the one visit I made to it with a friend.
Felt felt like a decent vibe, and we both got chicken George and liked that as well.
If I take my friends who are not Charlton fans to a game over the summer I wouldn’t have any issue taking them there beforehand.
Buy them some ear plugs if you take them there, and perhaps a book on sign language in case you want to ‘talk’ when the chap with the microphone is speaking.

I prefer the background noise of middle aged men talking to a 18 year old like a POS because he's been queuing in Crossbars for 3 minutes.

The spanners used to call him this, @MillwallFan will be able to confirm.

Maybe we need a "pre/post game grub" mega thread somewhere.
