They don't have undersoil, with it being -5 tonight, -7 Wednesday, -5 Thursday. Surely a risk of being called off?

    Will be gutted

They had planned to install undersoil heating and a Desso pitch in last summer, but put it off. A surprising comment from Ridsdale that they couldn't have undersoil heating without a Desso pitch, as undersoil heating has been around for decades, whereas Desso pitches are relatively recent.

It’s one of those crazy things, if we did undersoil heating this summer in advance of a Desso, that heat would crumble the grass we’ve got because it’s currently not a Desso pitch, it’s a sand-based pitch. So you can’t do undersoil heating in isolation of doing the Desso as well.

Even if covered, really can’t see it going ahead with those temps.

Out of pure interest Clive, where do you find this information? Is it readily available on the club website?

Same. I live over the border in Yorkshire and it’s below zero today and all week. Ice everywhere will be the problem.
  • Have a mate who lives in Chorley he didn’t seem to be concerned with the weather just said to wrap up as it’s going to be cold

I live up north now so will be going to this.

Are tickets available at Deepdale on the day?

Edit: I've ordered them from CAFC. It's Wednesday now so will assume they won't make it in time.

if its any help I've had mates whose away tickets didn't arrive on time - they called Charlton and arranged for duplicates to be made available at the away ground. Suggest you ring Charlton Friday and get them to do that; don't leave until Saturday. Good luck and enjoy the game

The club can confirm that an additional 208 tickets have been made available for Saturday's Emirates FA Cup third-round tie at Preston North End.

Almost 950 Addicks are already set to make the trip to Deepdale this weekend to back Nathan Jones' team, with the extra tickets, which take the total allocation to 1,186, available to purchase now. Click here to secure

Some very hard frosts in the next 2 nights. I hope they have got good pitch covers, as once the pitch freezes, it'll stay unplayable.

Having over a thousand fans on a cold January weekend there is pretty impressive. Especially when I saw the prices for the trains and the weather being artic.
  • Although I live about 10 miles or so away, loath to give a condition report as it varies so much, but am going closer to preston tomorrow hopefully so will update.
But here nothing has really melted for days.
Main roads clear but side roads and pavements are very icy. Today was 1 degree for an hour or two where I am
I'm hoping they are at least covering the pitch.

Ridsdale has probably spent the money on renting goldfish like he did at Leeds

I unfortunately live in Preston these days because of work. Preston as opposed to Blackburn last I heard has mostly melted as it spent most of saturday washing away the snow with rain. Like you said primary concern is ice, although its meant to be marginally hotter tomorrow up to 5 degrees odd but then dropping back down to about 2 on friday.

Park mindful of other drivers. Leave a decent gap, don't park on the pavement.

I’m really looking forward to this. Hoping NJ plays an unchanged team if so I think we can nick it. Last game there was my last game before Covid lockdown where we didn’t really perform hopefully we will this time
