  • 2 wickets for Jaydn now, been quite a nice bowling partnership between him and Muyeye.
  • 487-6
  • 609-6

    Ffs!
  • 624-6. 200 partnership.
  • I didn't stay for the last 6 overs or so. A painful spectacle really, so easy for the batsmen.

Not knocking any of the players who made centuries in this match, but in reality they were easy runs.

  • The Camra beer tent was brilliant though, and i thankfully was able to stay out of the sun.

Looks like the same across both divisions , placid pitches that are easy to score big runs on.
  • 624 runs on the board, 132 overs, 8 bowlers utilised and DBD still doesn't bring himself onto bowl. He clearly just does not bowl these days and that must be a legacy of his injuries.
  • Muyeye was a better bowler than I had expected, for a very part time bowler. Leaning not playing gave him more of a chance to turn his arm over.

    Does he bowl spin?

Yep - offspin. Always used to in club and county age group cricket.
  • Muyeye and Denly junior had a long spell bowling together,  and looked just as dangerous as Parky on that featherbed.
  • Parkinson really has been underwhelming, was expecting so much more when he first signed
  • I was disappointed in Agar yesterday. Brutal conditions, but he didn't look dangerous, and had no control either. Quinn at least kept it tight.

That last session was brutal for the Kent players. At 424-6 we still had an element of control, but Zaib and Broad were then able to accelerate the scoring. I've seen criticism from some quarters that they didn't declare, but I can't blame the Northants captain for sparing his bowlers the horrible conditions yesterday when the game is 99.9% certain to finish in a draw.
  • As a Northants fan pleased that we have got some good batting practice. The wicket must be as dead as platforms and flares. If there is any play around the rain today maybe it will liven up a little.
  • 722-6 at lunch, but there has been rain. 298 and counting for the 7th wicket...
  • Northants have declared with a lead of 156
  • Zaib left stranded on 196no!
  • New club record for the 7th wicket, could have let Zaib get his 200 though...

  • Not that there's likely to be a result but Northants are probably mindful that they would lose two overs, in addition to the two they would lose if they have to bat again, had they not declared at lunch
  • Jaydn bowled for 2 (4)
  • Off for rain but not before Ekansh has hit a couple of lovely drives

    12-1
  • Uh-oh! Singh bowled for 27, so Kent are 29/2 trying to get another 127 runs to make N’thants bat again!
    Another spell of rain needed!
  • Surely not, SURELY haha

This is why people with a passing interest in cricket (me) shouldn't get involved when those that know are talking... Thanks AA.

It's juggling the tiny chance of a positive result, against an individual landmark of a double century.

If both teams shake hands on a bore draw at 5pm, then Zaib will be a bit frustrated...

The needs of a team will always come before that of an individual. If that landmark was so important to Zaib then, perhaps he should have taken the responsibility to hit one of his final 16 balls for a boundary - he was facing Parkinson and Jaydn who between them returned 3-348 at an ER of 5.35 on a dead track so it's not as if it was impossible to do so.

If the boot were on the other foot and we went out again after lunch, waited for our player to score 4 runs, then lose 20 minutes (including the break) in doing that and then failed to take the final wicket, even the person achieving that milestone wouldn't have been too chuffed.
  • DBD out to the strangest of shots for 30 (45) - he flicks the ball straight into the hands of the slip

    77-3 (25) and 80 still behind
  • 82-4. No comment.
