What a catch. Carey has been brilliant all day.

Few overs of us bowling will be fun but definitely leaving runs out there

Carse becomes Starc's sixth victim, caught low by Carey

    264-9

The ball clearly hit the cable. But, in my view, that shouldn't mean the catch doesn't stand.

    5 wickets for 54 runs.....inc 3 for 13.

Should have got a min 300.

I’m getting so frustrated with the amount of whafty shots outside off stump by England players - just bloody leave it 🙄

All of Australia hoping England can bat until the close. Except Khawaja.

I must be imagining things, I thought I just saw an England player leaving a wide delivery!

    Yes, been very impressive
  • Is there an argument for declaring & having 20 minutes at them tonight?

Should we declare? Maybe Root and Archer can put on 50, but if we end up batting for 30 minutes for 15 runs, would it be better to be bowling under the lights now?

Yes. But the last time Stokes declared nine down in an Ashes Test with Root seeing it like a beachball, we lost. And Stokes was slaughtered, mercilessly by the usual suspects.

No idea what to do here. Them starting fresh in the light in the morning is not what we want. We should have been batting till lunch tomorrow, then getting to have a go at them with the new ball as light starts to fade. Do we want a few overs at them tonight? but need every run we can get!

Aussie time wasting every ball is getting on my nerves. Needs a run penalty this as its clearly so they dont have to bat tonight

Should be having a swing, at least.

Yes. But the last time Stokes declared nine down in an Ashes Test with Root seeing it like a beach all, we lost. And Stokes was slaughtered, mercilessly by the usual suspects.
A different scenario.  REALLY favourable bowling conditions now, so pointless defending for 30 minutes.

This is one situation where slogging is justified.

Aussies happy to concede another 15 plus runs just so it means they don't have to bat tonight.

Lesson for the day..and probably the series.

If the ball is wide of Off , and Starc threw it down

    ....f***ING leave it!!!!

Should be 10 penalty runs for every over not bowled.

Should have had 90 overs by 11am. Being generous it will be 69 at 11.05. That should be another 210 runs to England.

Think that would speed the game up.

England should bowl four overs an hour tomorrow, until the lights come on

Declare FFS. Why are we suddenly not taking the Bazball approach?

The Aussies are desperate not to bat tonight.

Don't think Carey wanted to catch that one. Dont want to bat tonight.

Really can't see them reaching the minimum of 90 overs per day.

The fact it's a night game so light doesn't matter I think they should stay out there until they reach the acquired overs.
  • Archer - brilliant!

Archer batting until lunch tomorrow would mean we should pass 450. As long as Root can stay with him.

Well this is fun. might as well carry on then
  • Would rather runs on the board than bowling at them tonight tbh. Good to get some momentum back.
