In the old days, fa cup replays were played in the same week as the original game, then the police got involved and said they needed at least a week to organise their force. So how are these rearranged games getting played in the same week ?
Should get a bye to the next round. A championship club unable to fulfil a fixture due to a frozen surface, where temperatures have been known for ages and, let's be honest, haven't been extreme, is farcical. How do they not have under soil heating, or proper frost covers and enough heat lamps?
Do we have undersoil heating or even a boiler that’s connected or proper frost covers and enough heat lamps?
We did have but strangely it was never connected up. God knows if it’s still there , or if it is , what state it’s in .
I think we put them in because undersoil heating is a Premier League requirement and it was seen as more cost effective to install the pipes when the pitch was being dug up rather than have to do it again in the future. I would imagine the business case must have factored in the life of the pipes which would have to be a long one although it is us!
Surely it makes sense for the team to stay up north until the 21st now? Can probably use a local sides training facilities.
Stay there for two weeks nearly? The way some of you talk on here it's like anything north of Watford is a remote foreign country. It's Preston not Outer Mongolia.
So 5 hours up there Monday. 5 Hours back Wednesday morning. 5 Hours up there Friday and 5 hours back down on Saturday. Then 5 Hours back up Monday or Tuesday. Followed by 5 hours back on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning?
That sound far worse than just staying up there for a week/10 days.

Yes we do, and we're in League 1 anyway where we play tinpot outfits like Burton and Crawley, Preston are meant to be a respectable Championship side

My understanding is that the pipework was installed, and that was it. We do not have undersoil heating as far as I am aware.

its not like they have family, friends or other commitments is it!
Exactly. If anyone is oop North, with no game, why not drop in to the National Railway Museum at York. There's more filth in there than Pulse and Cocktails!!
"Drop in"? It's 100 miles east of Preston.
It's also pretty much impossible to get to - there's no cross country rail. It'd take you about four hours 🤣

Apologies. It was just a joking thought if any peeps were hanging around. York is quite a pleasant tourist spot. Preston, hmmm.
I think, and stand to be corrected, that we plan to have the necessary bolier/s when and if we have to have them. I don't think there is any plan to hire them. I would imagine the pipes that have been laid will be capped so would be usable quite a way into the future if necessary.
If anyone’s interested, the coach for the rearranged game has just left Larkfield with a 20.30 departure time. Unfortunately the coach for the original game left last Monday, and after hearing about the postponement y’day, are currently in Belfast after taking an alternative route home via the Irish sea. They hope to be back this Thursday morning all being well
the lemon drizzle was gone by Wednesday last week just after we left Newport Pagnell
the chap next to me has spent the last 3 days meticulously running through FA Cup ties he’d like to have if we get through to round 4

Why the lol? Does that mean no, there’s no chance? Also, is there now a possibility that it will be on Charlton TV?
Wasn’t me who lol’d but that isn’t how TV deals work. The companies pay to broadcast X number of games. The Orient game will be on somewhere as it was already picked and I imagine ours will be on overseas as it was going to be. No FA Cup games can be broadcast directly by the club because of the broadcast deal in place

You paying for the 30+ hotel beds for 10 days?
Bunkbeds in some hostel in Doncaster or something can’t be that expensive!

Joking aside. Avoid any too good to be true, cheap hotels in Donny as they are used by homeless services and are not recommended. Having worked in the city for 20 years I can inform that hotels have changed their names and rebranded, such is the stain on their reputations.

As part of an audit in the summer 2022, undersoil heating is mentioned in the energy efficiency section
Roland never connected the boiler up after replacing the pitch.

Orient v Derby
Mansfield v Wigan
Preston v Charlton

Charlton TV are not permitted to show live FA Cup matches.
Wonder what the 'old' criteria was for postponement or abandonment, and when the rules changed?
