AMB was definitely the busier of the goalkeepers and we looked pretty lame until the last 20 when we turned in to Rotherham from Saturday .
We earned the rub of the green and if you don’t buy a ticket you can’t win the lottery so well done Karoy for having a shot , it was probably going nearer the corner flag than the far post but it ended up in the net .
Anyone who watched on Sky wtf was that commentators ever changing accent all about it was so weird , he’d say 3 words and it would have 4 different accents including a right northern one .
Well done to the travelling few , you got what you deserved .
To turn over and watch the scum let in a late one was an added bonus .3 -

definitely trying to divert attention away from
his own failings. He did the same last year with our equaliser. Claiming a foul when their player laid there holding his head. If he got up, he would have cleared the ball.
same yesterday, he should be focussing on his no 5 ducking under a cross 6 yards out and the poor discipline from many of his players slowing us to step up a gear and win the match.
our players played as a team and had each others backs, that’s why we won.
his comments are those of a dead man walking.2 -
Admitedly a very low bar, one win behind last seasons total, and we’re only in January, so progress of sorts, but not where we want to be.

The shame of handing us 6 points this season was clearly too much.22 -

Great result. Kudos to NJ for making the subs when he did.3

Shame that, Bolton have a good squad but they were guaranteed not to go up under Evatt. This will make them a top 6 threat again. Let’s hope they’ve still got to play lots of the other teams we need to catch up on5

Finishing 3rd and not winning the play offs is what Bolton did last season , we need to win promotion to end this non stop season after season of league one shit1

Ian Evatt’s reign as manager of Bolton Wanderers has come to an end.
The 43-year-old’s departure has yet to be confirmed officially but it is understood there was an emergency board meeting called after last night’s 2-1 home defeat to Charlton Athletic.

That is two poor performances on the spin. Awful to watch. Hope we can get a few players in before the end of the month. Most of this lot are not fit for purpose.7

See Oohaah post above:
Same thing happened with Mark Robins at Coventry, after their penalty shoot out defeat, it's hard to replicate after losing a Play off final compared to when Sunderland lost to the mighty Mendonca inspired CAFC. Phillips stayed whereas Viktor Gyokeres went to Sporting and could soon be at Man United ?
Ian Evatt comes across as aggressive and full of sour grapes compared to the quieter Robins.
For two seasons under Evatt, Bolton were the best 3rd tier side to come to the Valley; 4-1 and 2-1 winners and were so strong. It feels that he has lost his mojo but I was impressed how many players they used to get in and around the box when attacking.
The 2-0 defeat to Oxford at Wembley deflated the whole club and the fans relationship with Evatt took a turn for the worse.
This season, after that defeat, a different story and Bolton were a shadow of their selves at the Valley when we negated them and they just had two weak shots at goal.

Bonkers that we’re still in with a play off shout. Not sure if that reflects the poor standard of League 1 or the mini revival we’ve had (if you take out Rotherham and Preston).Fair play to NJ though. He has, kind of, turned it around the last few weeks.1

Was all set to run with the ‘we were proper sheet at the Toughsheet’ and then we pull out a late smash and grab!Ignore performance, that could prove a pivotal result to our season. We have 5 games in a row now against teams below us and it’s crucial we capitalise on that. Most pleasing thing for me was the performance of Anderson, Aneke and Godden when they come on. We’ve been stuff with the same 11 as there had been little evidence of others coming in without weakening us. But they all put in positive contributions.I’d still like us to strengthen. Bolton brought in Randall a fortnight ago and we should be doing similar additions.Great feeling giving a big cheer from the sofa when the goals went in. Come on you Addicks!18

Evatt was sacked last night apparently...0

Its all been said - terrible for first 70 mins - upturn in form looking to be over and back to the dross - then 3 subs, 2 goals and we're back to needing a pacy wide man and attacking mid in the window to secure play offs. Over to the SMT now to deliver the goods - can Scott redeem himself ?0

Two winnable home games coming up over these 7 days, get all 6 points and we are at the very least knocking on the door of the play off positions and set up nicely for a promotion push to May. TBF, it’s the classic position to aim for at the end of January, as long as you hit and maintain form at that point of course…

No doubt in my mind that the next 5 games will define our play off chances. We will need to get at least 10 points from those which will require better consistency than we have shown. Jones will have to balance the clear need to rest some of our starters whilst resisting the temptation to tinker too much. Mitchell, Berry and Leaburn in particular look very tired.
But, we've got a fit squad for the time being with, maybe, a couple of additions so plenty of reasons to be optimistic. I also loved the shithousery at the end. We're going to need to do that every game if we are going to get to the play offs.0 -
I forgot to watch last night, probably because of Saturdays display. Nice to see that managers still get the sack when they lose to little old Charlton. Absolute beauty of a deflection for the winner, I've seen a few of them against us.0

I was lucky enough to be in Luxembourg and watched the stream.
Great result, and I am in a minority in thinking we deserved it. The reason being that in general this season we are a better second half team, and Nathan Jones utilised substitutions to good effect at the right time and Bolton didn’t find a way to cope with that.
I am afraid I agree with @PragueAddick about Charlotte Richardson and Steve Brown if all you had was the audio ‘coverage’. Now Charlotte has been a stand alone commentator for Academy games and been pretty good, but last night you could clearly see some interesting action, including moves and attacks by us, but the listener wouldn’t have had a clue what was going on because Charlotte and Steve were basically talking about whatever stuff, and as a result cutting the listener out from what was taking place.
I have said this many times. The listener is blind and the commentator is supposed to be their eyes first and foremost, the other stuff can happen when there is a break in play.
By the way Steve Brown, lovely bloke and all, but it is depressing enough watching Charlton, and instead of being a cool observer of events you have a way of making the experience more depressing than it needs to be.4 -
I feel like we're a bit harsh on our commentary teams. Yeah they get on my nerves sometimes too, but we're lucky to have some very good broadcasters at the club. When you're forced to listen to another club's comms, most of them are the absolute pits.

The key test of a commentator is if it is audio only.
Of course if you can’t see the action audio commentators can say any old thing is happening and you would never know, but if your listening only, you can tell the difference between describing the action and trash talking, especially if the crowd noise in the background suggests something is occurring.
If others are worse there is no need to copy them. I have been critical in the past, but Terry Smith and Greg Stubley have both improved the service they provide for the listeners who have paid good money for it.1 -

Someone needs to sit Charlotte and Brownie down and play the audio of the first 20 minutes of the second half to them.1
