  • The linger a game goes on, the more likely the bigger team is to win.

No replays suits smaller teams from a sporting POV.

Liverpool have 5 games in 15 days including City, a cup final and the last Merseyside derby at Goodison. They had to rest players, maybe Slot went too far and should have had some big hitters on the bench but I get why he did it
I think all this is fair comment. When you look at Slot's starting 11:

You could legitimately argue that the midfield and right back was very much second string but there was still a lot of PL quality and experience in that side.

Whereas if you look at the bench:

...it's a shocker, full of bit part players and kids.

Going a goal down he did the only thing he could do and threw Nunez on. But the truth of it was Plymouth were playing out of their skin, they were rubbish and when he needed Salah, TAA, VVD, etc. but particularly MacAllister and Gravenbach to get a grip on the midfield, the silly sod had left them in Liverpool.
As well as having Joelinton and Barnes injured, Eddie Howe left out Dubravka, Trippier, Schar, Gordon, Hall, Tonali, Murphy, Botman and Isak from the starting XI against Birmingham who, let's face it, are probably on a par, at least, with Plymouth. Of that team, only Burn and Guimaraes had started against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi three days before. The difference is that Howe packed the bench with first choice players should he need to change things - the intention was always to bring Tonali on at half time for Guimaraes and when Burn got injured, he brought Schar on along with Murphy for Wilson (making his first appearance for months) on 55 minutes. Isak had a five minute cameo to close the game off.

The significant difference in approach. as you intimate, is that one is calculated for all eventualities and the other is, basically, a reserve starting XI with rookies on the bench. The situation that summed that up most were the sides' respective injuries - when the Liverpool captain, Joe Gomez, had to come off after 11 minutes, Slot brought on Maya (who himself would be substituted after 58 minutes) and had to put Endo in the back line in the re-shuffle. When Burn got hurt for Newcastle, Howe brought on Schar. A massive difference.
  • If I was a Liverpool fan I would be demanding the game is replayed.

No reason to, but that doesn't usually stop the moany pricks.
Heard they are demanding a replay as one of the Plymouth midfielders isn’t Corgi registered.

Quite liked Slott initially but now realise his just another foreign prick with no respect for the great English game.
Eddie Howe made10 changes and they just scraped through, he must be an English prick with no respect for the English game

The FA Cup is a nuisance to the big clubs, fuck me Leeds made 10 changes against Millwall
Champions League qualification and winning the title are way ahead in importance over the FA Cup.
And battling to avoid relegation is far more important to Plymouth than progressing in the FA cup, but they have.

Some Liverpool fans will trot out the line saying they can do without the distraction to console themselves, but they've been embarrassed and are out, out, out, leaving themselves open to ridicule. They won't be happy.

The fans will be upset being knocked out but the club will not be too concerned.  The only time the big boys worry about the FA Cup is if that is all they can win and Champions League qualification is not possible.
You only have to look at the list of past winners to see how wrong you are.
In the last 10-20 years I would say teams like Citeh, Arse, etc. have taken it seriously when it looks like they could win it, e.g. 1/4-final onwards.
All teams and managers want to win it and underestimating lower league opposition is nothing new. If Liverpool had been playing United, they wouldn't have fielded the players that lost to Plymouth, whatever round.

The competition is made more exciting by having the so called bigger sides making fools of themselves disrespecting lesser ones.

Don't bother with the 90 minutes, go straight to penalties. Surely all the big teams would be happy then...
This, rename it the FA Cup Penalty Shootout, will appeal to an international audience, or make it like those five a side matches that used to be televised that we always seemed to do well in.

Better still, each team sends one penalty taker and a ‘keeper to Wembley and you get the whole thing over with in one day.
  • Won’t be enjoying this result till palace and scum are out of the cup
Well you'll get 50% of your wish

Oh come on. People moan on here about us being forced to play X amount of first teamers in the Bristol Streets trophy or whatever it is called now, and they we should play the kids and take a fine.

How many international players did Liverpool play in this game.

Up to them if they rest players and I hate Liverpool.
    Then bring back cup replays.

Literally the rest of English football had to adhere to the whims of twenty clubs. 725 other clubs dictated to by 20. They supposedly needed less games so they didn't overstretch their squad, they took that (it wasn't given to them, it was enforced) and then they play a second (third?) string side in the cup anyway, international players or not.

Stop them travelling thousands of miles for "meaningless" friendlies just before the season starts if the little darlings are a bit too sleepy to play twice a week.

I don't moan about the Swiss Tony cup and I detest Liverpool FC with a passion, just for the record.

Nah, sod the replays. Everyone says about if a small team holds a prem team to a draw, but you don’t find Exeter v Lincoln fans wanting to do it again.

90 mins straight to penalties- would get far more upsets that way.

Take Tamworth Spurs for instance- 0-0 and penalties after 90 rather than a 3-0 capitulation in extra time
I shall bow to your superior knowledge on Lincoln and Exeter fans whims, mate.

I have no stats, it seems like the bigger team win the shoot outs much more often than the underdog, but that is just how it feels to me.

    probably got better players...

i get what you are saying, but I reckon more underdogs win a shoot out, than get through after another 90 minutes against the big team
