Stockport Stewards

  • On the way to the ground I spotted a Met Officer I see at all our away games, said hello etc - he was stood with a Manchester Officer - I said to the Manchester Officer about what I had seen online re the Stockport Stewards - he said not to worry, as they are well aware of the issues, and are taking steps to resolve matters - on the way out I was chatting to a Stockport fan, and he told me even the home fans want the Steward company replaced, as they are just as bad in the home end

In fairness, the steward in my bit of the stand was ok, after an initial annoyance about not being in my allocated seat - I was stood at the back, but on the stairwell - he tried to get me to move to a seat, but I said that I was not blocking any access, as there were no seats behind me, and that also I am a short arse, so by standing there at least I could see the match - he said ok fine, then proceeded to ask about our journey up, how Charlton are on a good run, and maybe we could get promoted - he even recommended a post match pub !!!

One of my mates, stood next to me, was getting more and more agitated about the game, and started dropping the C Bomb relentlessly - the Steward told him to tone his language down as there were ladies and young kids near us, which was fair enough to be honest

I did spot the tattoo face Steward when entering the ground, so wormed my way away from him so the pat down before going in was not done by him

There was an Asian Steward who appeared to be in charge, and he was up and down the front of our end all match, and seemed to be looking for bother, but there wasn’t any of course

I loved the fact that it was pretty warm, and they all wore black puffer jackets and layers. Does a great job of bulking them out.
  • Got asked to empty my pockets after being patted down, which I thought was weird as he didn't ask the two fans in front to do the same

After the match I went to go to the loo only to be told we weren't allowed to. We walked past him, and he said he would be counting us in and out!

Saw tatto face man, didn't appear to be threatening or over zealous

1 exit and bar at one end and the loo at the other end is just crazy
  • Some stewards are great, I always like to buy an away programme.

At Exeter this season i was told they were on sale inside the ground. When i got there, they weren't. But i asked a steward about this and he went off and try and get one for me. He must have been away for about 5 mins before he returned with one.
As long as it wasn't a steward who told you that programmes were on sale inside the ground... 😁
