Considering the money they've spent and points they have, it's outstanding we're only one clean sheet behind Birmingham.

How far are we behind them in goals scored ?
    Just have one day off…

I thought Anderson had a very good second half seeing as he was on a yellow.
Indifferent game overall. Doesn't hide but he does give the ball away too much.
Yes, I agree with you and he does it more than most but I really do think he's getting better at many aspects of his game, including his on-the-ball nous and passing out........ it's good he's being encouraged to keep having a go at that stuff, it is improving and although he's not in our 'midfield 1st XI' I don't feel uncomfortable when he starts or comes on in games now.

I've learned my lesson. I am not questioning any of Jones' decisions. Why would I? Why would anybody? Seeing as what we have acheived in the last few months.

Great win, and defence superb (again) but we made hard work of it, and were quite lucky again to win. Why on earth Hylton comes on ahead of Kanu is embarrassing - last 15 minutes were a tough watch
Did he kick the ball once? straight out of play......for gods sake...............
To be fair he did a good flick on header late on that took us right into the corner. Ref decided to give a goal kick instead of a throw in to us. But I'd have Kanu over him every time.
I do think Hylton was actually the right decision for late in the game last night.

Kanu would have harried and pressed them, but still feel that Crawley could play around that, and keep the ball rolling - Hylton coming on, is a proper way to disrupt the flow of the opposition, how do you get any momentum going when someone like him is kicking the ball out every opportunity - Its those dark arts we've been missing I think for a while, pre- this season.

He's there, just to be a genuine pain in the arse for the opposition in my opinion. You're right though; Hylton was unlucky with that flick on bit of play, as he then almost got on the end of Godden's forward pass
There’s absolutely no way Danny Hylton should be getting any minutes for a league 1 team chasing automatic promotion - the bloke can barely move. If we really need to bring someone on to kick the ball out and waste some time, surely Kanu can be instructed to do that whilst also being able to harry and press if needed.

That seems slightly hysterical. We’ve definitely been doing well for a few months despite being atrocious for months prior to that, but I don’t think we’re quite at the point where Jones is beyond question.

So why haven't our players done it in past games? - The ability to mess around / really disrupt the opposition from getting a foothold in the final few minutes is something we've really struggled with over the last couple of years, and is probably one reason why we've let in so many last minute goals in recent seasons - Its something that Jones has identified and has now dealt with.

Am sorry, but Hylton, whilst a bit of a joke on here, isn't the problem coming on to see out a victory.

Complain when it doesn't work... Not when it does!!

I watched on the stream. The arrival of Hylton seemed to gee up the general liveliness to good effect.

Great 3 points and second is clearly achievable. One game at a time. Momentum with us. We need a bit of luck and key players to stay fit. Who would have thought we would be discussing top two or even play offs only three months back. Lloyd Jones has been brilliant but I think Gillesphey had been every bit as important with his level of performance. We do have a number of experienced players in this squad who should be an advantage for us in the run in. UTA.

Its also ironic that people are saying that Kanu should have come on last night, when it was the youngsters; Anderson - Campbell - Leaburn, that were being pointed out during the game, as the ones struggling dealing with Crawley.

It seems a bit stupid that to "help" with that, is to throw on more youth, rather than a bit of experience to just calm shit down.

IF the consistent Edwards is unfit for Wigan, then I would play TC back on the right and Small back on the left just for this match or as long as Josh is out.
It's there natural side, though of course they have both done a great job on there supposed weaker side. Thierry has scored both his goals with his right foot !

"TC is tired" is getting boring; all professional players that play 3 games a week should be tired if they give 100% every game ! Did Tyreece look tired when he looked sharp down the right after Josh went off ? No, he looked refreshed and for the first match in ages he wasn't double marked as Crawley continued to try to equalise.

I thought Gilbert had a decent first start and if he had finished that first chance then Middlesbrough wouldn't have let him come on loan ! He also had a blocked shot and he found space on the left which the keeper saved for a corner. It wasn't totally surprising that his delivery on set pieces were a tad below his 3 assists but I would still have confidence in Gilbert from the bench after Berry has played his 60+ minutes or whatever the gaffer decides.

It's Nathan's Call and over the last 3 months he has got the big decisions right.

Don't think this is actually the case in modern football when it comes to wingers. With Small you are right as he is defending more but most wingers are now much more natural on their "weaker" foot as they are expected to cut in. Almost all of the top wingers in the world are "inverted" wingers these days

I wonder if Jones might rest Edwards anyway, as this is the second time he's been subbed in the last month or so due to cramp - What did surprise me was the fact that Mitchell was called upon so late in the game, otherwise I'd wonder if we'd keep current setup on Saturday, just with Ramsay back at WB and Mitchell back in defence.

This angle really doesn't do Wollacott any favours

Did wonder how much of Elliot, the Charlton fan, was talking in that interview lol!

Must be hard in a way - Of course the professional in Rob will have wanted to see Crawley win, and so help his own career as a Football Manager, but he's also a very long term Charlton fan, so is some part of him pleased to see that we're doing well

You are certainly correct with the inverted wide players but as you saw last night, TC can be effective on the right after Edwards went off and got past his left sided defender on several occasions with trickery or pace.

Thierry is an erratic player but so important for CAFC in his attacking play and going inside or wide. Stockport negated him but he was back to a higher standard last night.

To have both TC and Small to play on either side is a great asset and both are given licence to drive into the area which paid off last night for Thierry.

Made me laugh when Elliot and Fleming had a bit of an argument after TC hit a shot just wide... Can imagine Rob was shouting: "What sort of finishing was that, should have buried it Tyreece, what they teaching you at Charlton" for it to kick off

Watched the highlights but whilst Crawley played some good stuff, we should have pumped them with the chances we had.

Agree we looked a little leggy and if the P'Boro game was postponed, dont think that would be a bad thing.

Gilbert needs to learn the tracking back aspect of his role but other than that hiccup, he looked tidy. Thought Leaburn put a shift in and won a fair amount of headers.

Hope Edwards isnt out for long, if at all. Dont think its a bad thing if Small goes LWB and Ramsay to RWB with Mitchell coming back into the team.

5 points off 2nd...nuts considering how rubbish it looked in December!

Can we actually sneak in 2nd? It would be a ridiculous achievement!

Watson is another option on either flank if Edwards is injured/rested on Saturday

Fair point that. We've been genuinely excellent at turning 5, 6, 7+ minutes of added time into 2 minutes through playacting, tactical fouls, holding the ball up.
