** I do appreciate there are a few more clubs that have those sort of numbers, but only Sunderland had the unused ground capacity before the coming season. I think they're up to 36000 now0 -

And "I cant get to night games or Sunday games or...." boo hoo hoo. You do know what "support" means dont you? No wonder that old tart called us customers.
I think we have all been impacted by the Belgian days. They didn't give a shit about us or have any ambitions for the club. So many of us then had a mindset of following Charlton but without wanting to hand over unnecessary cash that was destined for his pocket.
We need to get beyond that and regain our combined passion. I think that we may be heading in the right direction.
Why should I go to football if it doesn't suit me?
I'll go to the games that suit me.
If it makes me less of a supporter then so be.
What's your view on cup games? Are you "fairweather" if you choose not to go to them for any reason when neither money nor ability to actually get to the game is an issue?2 -

easy one. Supply and demand.0 -
Back to slagging off fans because they don't buy 24 tickets knowing they can only use 8, love it. Same people probably refuse to buy merch because shirts are for kids.6

It was an error of communication and commercial judgement by the club in my opinion.1 -

To be clear, I'm referring to FA cup matches not papa johns or whether the LDV trophy is called at the moment.

well as far as I can judge, we are doing as well as can be expected on season ticket sales, about the average for the last ten years.0

One other thing, all the moaning about season ticket prices going up. If you'd bought a ticket when they were first offered, and from what I can see the zone 2 ones (the ones being mainly moaned about) were available for £485 and as your saying they're now £550 and that's a price increase of £90 so they must have been £460 last year, so your price increase would have been only £25. (£485 - £460)
1 - The 'moaning' was because of the unannounced price increase to £550 the morning directly after the play off final victory. In a stroke it cut off any likely jump in sales to prospective new season ticket holders riding the wave of euphoria following the Wembley match. CAFC will still have about 7K empty seats for most matches next season. The opportunity was there to fill a significant number of those empty seats with new season ticket holders who in recent seasons would have attended a limited number of games at The Valley.
All it needed was a 2 week window at the £485 price to turbo charge sales but that unannounced price increase blew it. The price increase will have likely generated an extra £150 - 200K in revenue but I still maintain that figure would have been overtaken by the extra money generated by an additional circa 3K bums on seats.
2 - The serious 'moaning' from existing season ticket holders will come next year when our renewal price starts at £550. Scrapping around at the arse end of the Championship might result in a few not renewing.16 -

Bang on there's about 12 of us friends and family who have had season tickets last few years on and off not including myself and bro who have had one for about 7 seasons now in a row and only 2 of those 12 have renewed soo far.
It was a kick In the teeth one day after the final tbh I would have renewed very soon after but had a hangover then see the jump and thought how cheeky couldn't even give it a week or so at better price.have mentioned before it's ok for some but I usually get my dad's ticket too and it all adds up in the end, getting emails to renew season ticket even before the current season had even ended and we are all forking out for play off matches, shirts and a wemberly trip.
Then small gets let go, if our billionaire owners maybe got 2 or 3 in the door or put there hands in their pockets proper I will have some belief we won't get pumped every week with a team that has maybe 4-5 at best possible championship players.will probably be suckered in though and renew 30 mins before first game of season as usual))

Just thought, if the club continue to increase season ticket prices by the same proption every season. Then I just under 5 years the price for what is the most common charged will have reached £1000.0

I was at the Halifax Tuesday night game at The Valley with just 3k there for a league game, no closed stands then either.
If the football, price and competition is attractive, people will want to attend.1 -
I was going to buy 3 season tickets for me and family but living in Dorset it would only be for Saturday games as very poor late evening train service, so no point, just buy tickets per match3
-
12k S/T holders would great for the club and the atmosphere at the Valley.
How many 1/2 S/T do we sell? If we are going well and having a real go at the league, would another 500 be a fair figure?0 -

I've read through this entire thread, all 28 pages of it !, and it strikes me that a lot of you are missing some of the main values of having a season ticket. I've had one since the early 70's, initially to save money over the year as I went to almost all games, but also to save the agro of queuing up to pay cash at the turnstile, I could just walk straight in and not miss the start, as now, most turned up at the last minute.
Once the valley became all seater, and having picked my seat, it was mine "for ever" or until I die. So my season ticket has also guaranteed the seat that I want, and I still don't have to queue up in the big long queue on match day to get a seat that's not my first choice. I don't have to get online, choose a seat (maybe one I don't want), pay for it and print it every game. I just walk straight in.
Over the years, I've gradually got to know those that sit around me, they're the same every game, we only discuss Charlton and other football matters, but they're "like minded". At the end of the game, I say "bye, sorry must rush, train to catch". I wouldn't have this if I bought a ticket for each game separately.
One other thing, all the moaning about season ticket prices going up. Or until the club wants to cash in on another team's promotion or experiment with moving away fans.0 -
