The worry is that some won’t understand the circumstances as to why he had to leaveLargeAddick said:
Just said to the missus, if he’s going on loan to the Championship then why not us? He may even want to come home for a season.Valley11 said:2 -

Glad it’s finally come from a reliable source now24

I think a great many won’t even realise he was previously with us.DOUCHER said:

To clarify now that I have had a chance to look up stats, the claim was an over exaggeration and was based on just one season at a decent level. You now have all you need to know based on feedback etc above. Remember negotiations don’t mean the deals will come off, but all sounds promising.7

He’s the only player who gave Ramsey a hard time last season, that’s more than good enough for me10

For who?J BLOCK said:Tanto looks like it’s done0 -
It might be different at Championship level but he makes defenders absolutely shit themselves when he runs at them.PWADDICK said:He’s the only player who gave Ramsey a hard time last season, that’s more than good enough for me
He definitely has the physicality for the next level, which is arguably half of the battle.7 -
When did we last sign a player for over a million quid?0

Spot on. People will look at his scoring record but there is much more to his game than that. And he works fucking hard, never gives defenders a seconds rest.Callumcafc said:

If he combines the running of Godden with the pace of TC and the physicality of Chuks, we'll have some player.
Time will tell0 -
I really hope this turns out happening with his pace and workrate I really think NJ will mould him into some player0
-
Was he the player grabbing hold of Miles quite a lot?0

9 in 42 is not "prolific".RedRobin said:

Feels like the kind of signing where other championship teams wouldn’t be interested and he wouldn’t be that good for them, but because he fits the way we play perfectly, he is a championship player in our team13

Stockport journalist mentioning it too.

Certainly an athlete & not overly excited about him but Nathan knows what he’s doing. Bottom line is we probably can’t afford a proven championship striker so it makes sense3
-
We are going to need a goal scorer to keep us in the division and this guy isn’t. Huge risk especially as we are only bringing in 6/7 players so Godden is going to have a lot of responsibility.8

The last time that we signed an athlete of a striker with not great stats was the last time we spent a fee - and that was Ahadme (besides him & Allan Campbell the recruitment was perfect last season) but Olaofe is a better pedigree already than our Gassan #9 - if Stockport had gone up Olaofe would start every game for them, that’s good enough for me to believe he’s more than capable for us. If we can play the same system and be strong at pressing once again this season with Olaofe who would do that job then he’s a great fit for usBerkshire1970 said:Certainly an athlete & not overly excited about him but Nathan knows what he’s doing. & you could argue that Godden is a proven Championship striker - albeit at the tail-end of his career!1 -
‘Prolific’ ? 9 in 42 is not prolificNabySarr said:

I'm not overly arsed about someone having to have been prolific. Joel Piroe was plucked basically out of nowhere by Swansea - two in 18 for Sparta Rotterdam in 19/20, then 1 in 11 for Eindhoven in 20/21. Swansea sign him for a mil or so and he gets 22 then 19 in the next couple of seasons before going to Leeds.
Obviously you have to look at mutual fit here. Do I trust Jones, Chapple and the rest to identify what might work? Yes. Will it always work? No, as Gassan Ahadme has shown. But I'm not gonna get hung up on pastures old, so to speak.28 -
Neither is 7 in 47, but I bet if TC played somewhere else and we signed him for £1.5m we'd all be pleased about itDucktapeshoerepairs said:

We will probably get the version with Leaburns injury record and gas’s goal scoring abilitysam3110 said:If he combines the running of Godden with the pace of TC and the physicality of Chuks, we'll have some player.

Remember Peterborough picking up Jack Marriott from Luton after he scored 8-goals in 39-games in League Two the season beforehand. I should note though, that he'd scored 14 in 40 the year before, so the potential was clearly there with him. He moved to Posh and scored 33-goals in 56-games that season
But I've always used him as an example of how Strikers are proof that you cant simply look at the stats - If we've scouted Oloafe properly, why cant he hit the ground running with us...? - People need to wake up... We don't have the budget of others at this level, so we need to find the decent Strikers BEFORE they become prolific, the hidden gems, like Ramsay etc. before they've made a name for themselves.27
