Surely it doesn’t matter knibbs hasn’t been confirmed as long as he was registered he would be able to play
Doesn't even need to be registered for a friendly

If Jones wants him to play he will and we'll do a very low key "Charlton Atheltic are delighted to confirm the signing of Harvey Knibbs". If he isn't going to play then it will wait until tomorrow

  • It will be interesting to see how we line up. In our biggest test in preseason i would hope we line up with a 5-2-3. It should reflect how we line up against watford.

    Kaminski

    Apter,ramsay, Jones, Bell , Edwards

    Coventry, JRC

    TC, Kelman, olafe

I would like to think olafe could do the job out wide however if not maybe Carey might get used on the wing. Until knibbs comes in.

Not sure many of us will actually be able to see. CAFC website doesn't mention streaming and Ipswich are only offering audio commentary

There no reason why he can’t be announced 5pm today if they want to play him

Agree, and we have u21 and u18 friendlies tonight too, so expect some of the u21s with the senior squad to be involved in that game so they can also get more minutes.

I doubt he'll name a full strength team, there will still be a mix of the 2 "halves" of the squad

Maybe jbaker is related to Matt Baker, thr Charlton Athletic priest? Perhaps if he posts something like this in the future, maybe NOT interrogate him?
  • Bit off topic but now truly looking forward to watching the new signings et al.

I think he will still go 60/30 but the guys who didn't have 60 before will step up to the hour and others may revert to 30.

60 minutes was the Jonny Williams battery length 😃

One player I thought could help our situation at wing back is someone who can play both sides and has decent attacking qualities too.

Bali Mumba at Plymouth would be a good signing for anyone in the Championship I believe. Not a club this season I see doing much in League One.

Someone who can play comfortably on both sides would be ideal, as I’m not sure we’ll bring in a WB on each side when players like Ramsay and Bell can cover if needed.

Really liked him when he was first on loan at Plymouth in league 1, looked a very good prospect.

Would be an unreal signing, like Alfie Doughty, probably too good to be in League 1.

I don't think we can afford him though, and not because I am saying we can't/won't for a change, I think we have spent too bloody much and at risk of a financial breach 😂

"🚨 Blackburn Rovers have registered interest in Plymouth Argyle full-back Bali Mumba.

With Callum Brittain’s future still uncertain, Derby have met Blackburn’s £3 million valuation, while Middlesbrough also remain in the mix."

3 million valuation. Blackburn after him to replace the expected departure of Callum Brittain, Boro also been heavily linked with Brittain along with Derby.

Not so long ago I'd have been happy with us signing Stephen Sessegnon to do this. How times change!

Maybe one to revisit once a few more have been sold on. He'd be useful but not currently essential so I imagine we need to do a bit of stock-taking/book-balancing and then see what happens.

I think our owners are spending the money on players that they planned on losing if we'd stayed in league one. We upset their plans by getting promoted a season early.

What was the thinking behind the CEO possibly leaving? Did that come from someone ITK? Would be a tad concerning no? Sorry I missed that one if someone could fill me in

    Isn’t that £3m Brittain’s valuation?

If Mumba costs anywhere near that then £800k on Fukuda looks worth the gamble, but I get why we hoped to get him on loan, bigger risk and out of contract in 6 months.

More than one person have alluded to issues with shares but I think it was a case of 2+2=5 with the sensitive announcement from today. Reams seems to believe there will be a statement at some point regarding Murphy but we'll see.
Personally I do find the silence ominous given he's not new to English football and it has been weeks since the initial announcement.

My suggestion wasn’t that I want us to sign just one wing back to cover both sides but that having someone who can is a quality to consider. It’s essentially the same as Small, he proved he was able to. I think Mumba predominantly plays on the left and is a right footer and I think he’d be good for clubs at this level as he’s better than League One.

The 3 mil valuation is regarding Callum Brittain.

As much as I rate Doughty, it would have made zero sense to drop 3m (25% of our budget), on a LWB who isn't guaranteed to start. Edwards was excellent last season and deserves his shot at the Championship. The Owners have 100% spent the money in the right areas. Defensively wasn't our weakness last season, which is why the bulk of the money is being spent on attacking players.
