What was the thinking behind the CEO possibly leaving? Did that come from someone ITK? Would be a tad concerning no? Sorry I missed that one if someone could fill me in
He hasn't joined yet to be able to leave!
Haha wow ok ! That’s fine then. Didn’t realise he hadn’t joined, thanks

One player I thought could help our situation at wing back is someone who can play both sides and has decent attacking qualities too.

Bali Mumba at Plymouth would be a good signing for anyone in the Championship I believe. Not a club this season I see doing much in League One.
Would be an unreal signing, like Alfie Doughty, probably too good to be in League 1.

I don't think we can afford him though, and not because I am saying we can't/won't for a change, I think we have spent too bloody much and at risk of a financial breach 😂

"🚨 Blackburn Rovers have registered interest in Plymouth Argyle full-back Bali Mumba.

With Callum Brittain’s future still uncertain, Derby have met Blackburn’s £3 million valuation, while Middlesbrough also remain in the mix."

3 million valuation. Blackburn after him to replace the expected departure of Callum Brittain, Boro also been heavily linked with Brittain along with Derby.
I don’t think the financial rules will be much of a problem. You can lose £39m over 3 years, I really don’t think we are going to see this kind of spending in future windows. We’ve had to this time because we’ve gone up a league but next season if we stay up I don’t think we will be looking to add too many more players, especially as a lot of our signings and young players are at an age where they should improve over time, so our squad should get better without even signing anyone

You won’t want to have huge turnover in the squad every year, we needed it this summer after a promotion, but in future years I’d imagine we will only be adding 4/5 players a summer at most, and the spending will be much less

If Knibbs has indeed already signed and isn't announced today, it will be interesting to see how that plays out in this evenings friendly - as Jones would surely want him involved in the squad

As much as I rate Doughty, it would have made zero sense to drop 3m (25% of our budget), on a LWB who isn't guaranteed to start. Edwards was excellent last season and deserves his shot at the Championship. The Owners have 100% spent the money in the right areas. Defensively wasn't our weakness last season, which is why the bulk of the money is being spent on attacking players.
Doughty is better than Edwards but he can also play on the right, in my view he would have been the perfect Thierry Small replacement in that attacking wing back role.

Tbh I’d have him over any of our signings, but he probably wasn’t realistic as I don’t think he’d want to sign for us. Millwall are play off challengers, he could have gone to Boro who have similar ambitions. Until we’ve stayed in the league for a year we aren’t going to be able to attract that level of player because we will be seen as a risk

    Isn’t that £3m Brittain’s valuation?

If Mumba costs anywhere near that then £800k on Fukuda looks worth the gamble, but I get why we hoped to get him on loan, bigger risk and out of contract in 6 months.
You're right, I have got my wires crossed.

Mumba does have the exact same transfer market valuation though so he would probably cost a similar fee.

Does anyone else see us spending a multi million pound fee again this window, cause I don’t

I don’t but I also thought that after Kelman signed, and we’re getting Knibbs for a decent fee

You’re probably right though as every big fee signing has been a starter and a new wing back is unlikely to be one with Edwards and Apter here already

Nowhere is favourite despite I believe the club trying to find a loan move which Gassan would agree to.

Why would we get rid of him? Now that we’ve signed Apter we can see their brilliant link up once again, like when Ahadme powered home a back post header from an Apter cross at the valley last season

Happy with our squad ! Good luck to Alfie, but nothing is certain in this league. We should focus on what we have.

I agree then I can't see another big signing, I now expect Bennett to sign on a short term deal, max 1 year, and either the wolves youngster or Fukuda, and that will cover everything. Only place on the whole squad I can then see a small chink would be Coventry cover, but it seems NJ is willing to use Docherty in that role if it comes to it.

Then we'll tidy up the squad and the books by offloading 3 players on permanents, my educated guesses are AMB, A.Mitchell and Taylor if he gets fit by September, then Ahadme, Asiimwe, Kanu and one of Enslin, Fullah and Dixon all on loan

While clearly talented the issue with Alfie (aside from being Millwall) is that he has a pretty awful record of sustaining major injuries, I don't think we could risk a £3m fee on a player who could miss half a season or more. Can't guarantee any players fitness but you can limit the risk.

Burstow going to Bolton almost certainly blocks Ahadme going up there.

Tbf how many times has that been said this window? After Olafe, Apter, Kelman and now Knibbs.

I think if NJ can justify it to the owners they will pay the money. Just had to be the right player, they clearly trust NJ’s judgement

Why? Plenty of clubs loan/buy more than one forward in same transfer window.

Been reported that Bolton wanted to bring in 2 strikers. I don’t think Burstow signing for them means Ahadme definitely won’t be either.

Literally ourselves this window have bought Kelman, Olaofe and are looking to add Knibbs who has played up top too.

Ahadme and Burstow are different types of strikers too

It doesn't, including Burstow they have barely any strikers
That won’t really change if they buy Gassy 🤷🏻‍♂️

Boltons other forward target is Kenny from Celtic but apparently they aren’t matching the fee required. If they get desperate they’ve already agreed a fee with us for Ahadme but the wages are the problem with that if we’re desperate enough we may give Ahadme a bit of a pay off to get him off our books

Another potential attacking midfield loan from the PL to go with Harris, Donley and Moore.

Can’t see any of them happening with Knibbs joining.

Moran has been filling in at fullback for Brighton in pre season. Could be the cover for Apter were after and a bit more attacking than a usual wingback so would make sense. Also can play in the midfield if needed I know we already have options but considering his experience and previous loans would arguably be a better player than some of our other options as well

Moran is a class player but would be surprised Brighton wouldn't want to keep him around, spent last season at Stoke and the season before at Blackburn.

Was part of that excellent Brighton U18s side with Evan Ferguson that won at The Valley a few years back in the FA Youth Cup

Watched him 4 times last year at Stoke and mainly played in midfield. I wouldn’t say he’d be an improvement on what we have but as already mentioned he can play RWB too so could be an option.

Why, Burstow is a striker, Ahadme isn’t
