Wonder if it might be a similar scenario with other youngsters, where moves are possibly lined up, and the other clubs are waiting for the Green light from us, whilst looking for alt. options in case we never give approval for the loan in the first place.1 -

We could have gone with Rylah or Enslin, it's not as if we didn't have options there. For me they're both more likely to make an impact on the first team than Hobden.3 -
I get it might have hampered his loan to AFCW, but if we don't sign a RWB in the next 5 days all it's really done is hamper the club.1

In the long term, it benefits us because after a year of league 1 (or maybe even 6 months) Asiimwe is hopefully ready for the championship. If we’d delayed, Wimbledon would have definitely signed someone else as they desperately needed a RWB for their opening game, then maybe Asiimwe is playing league 2 until January and wasting months of development3 -
Thankfully this has happened now and shows we do need more depth and quality at the back. 5 days is plenty of time to go out and find 1-2 players0

Hector is still available.10

NJ now bemoans lack of cover in defence, after signing a player with a very well known injury record, who then plays a part in the 1st pre season game, and gets injured badly enough that he's missed the 1st month of the season.
The Burke singing is a little daft imho. He may have quality, but he's crocked.21 -

I think tonight showed some serious weakness in our depth. We have no realistic Cov replacement, need someone who can effect the game from deep central like him, full backs also are an issue, no Edwards or apter we look toothless, centre backs minus the starting 3 and macca we no longer have strong option of the bench like A Mitchell, I don’t expect Burke to play much.. Nothing to say about the forwards we’ve spent big, jones will either be vindicated or fall on his sword with those signings.Hopefully thw budget is there to address the issues1

Mitchell in the centre was an accident waiting to happen. As I said on the match thread, you need a defensive rock in the middle of the back 3, and he is currently well off that level.
If we had someone else to play there, then i would have played Zach in midfield and Rankin-Costello at RWB tonight.0 -

We are crying out for a decent attacking midfielder / playmaker , and we need pace up top , if we had either on Saturday we would have won 7-17

I think the criticism of Zach is a bit harsh. He wasn’t great but he wasn’t the only one. I think it safe to say he is a bit rusty but the Zach that played at St Johnstone was much much more solid a few months ago. It was just an off day. Very flat8

Not his fault of course but it does explain why he is getting some stick.

He does seem to have developed a fanboy/girl club who point at everyone around him, or his exact position (been given a go at RB, RCB and CB now).
If he had something about him, you'd realise he had more experience than those around him and may have taken the lead. I believe that was the hope.0 -
Just throwing one out there and yes I know I'm gonna get " no more Luton players please Marcus"
Wonder if Tom Holmes could be a solution to our CB issue , doesn't seem to be in Bloomfield's plans but is still a good age at 25 and has good champ experience with Reading.5 -
ZM had a difficult evening as did many others. it might well make him better. im time. I do.prefer him on the right of a 3. gkllesphey should have played in thr centre or we should have used burke. juat because hes missed a month doesn't mean he will be a bad signing..
I do think our squad had the depth we needed but we've loaned out players because they want to play regularly.0 -

I think we may look to sign someone who can play RCB and RWB. As although they will be back up they will cover 2 positions so more likely to get game time
I think Gillesphey can cover the central centre back role. Plus we obviously have Burke for RCB and the middle if he’s ever fit1 -

I know NJ likes keeping players in the building to learn and develop but you can’t teach Zach strength only way you learn that is to go and get battered playing men’s football week in week out loan makes sense for all parties if Jones stops being stubborn and goes and gets someone on loan0

We’ll need at least one signing though if not two, and the right club for it to happen. So that’ll be why it hasn’t happened yet.0 -
Just my opinion but I’ve never seen a first team game where Z. Mitchell has looked anywhere near the standard we need to be part of the first team squad. Letting Alex Mitchell go on loan before having a CB in was a mistake and I think Jones has seen that last night.
Z. Mitchell would struggle starting every week in league one let alone the championship.
WB is a weakness both sides of the pitch for us and has been all window. The Dexter experiment has not done us any favours there, no idea why it took so long to realise he wasn’t the answer.Window has been good so far but we desperately need defensive cover.JRC did absolutely nothing for his case last night, was dreadful. Corners hitting the first man every time, no pace and gave the ball away countless times.6 -

Plenty of decent Free Agents.
Diagana, Mee, Jamal Lewis, Antonio, Craig Dawson, Redmond, Dasilva (injury prone).0 -
Trouble with looking to sign any CB is either you bring in someone to replace Bell, Jones or Ramsay from the first team or you have to bring in someone to sit on the bench which makes it difficult to bring in a loan signing as teams will want there player to play.
So we would need to try and find a CB that could be picked up fairly cheaply and happy to start on the bench. Not impossible but a hard task to do. Maybe the Scottish leagues has someone who would gladly take the step up and better wages on offer and settle for a place on the bench to begin with.
Realistically though probably a free agent until January may have to do.
