If Jones and Chapple are struggling with recruitment they can perhaps look no further than seeking the help of Acworth who has presented an extensive list to help them.
Highlights on the list include Ben Purrington, Albie Morgan, Jordan Cousins, Benik Afobe last seen playing in the Qatari 2nd division, and 39 year old Billy Sharp.
And the Wimbledon player on the list has signed for Bradford
There’s a point in the NJ interview about 4 mins in where he’s clearly about to say “we need to have more fluency in the middle of the pitch” and stops himself halfway through the word middle which suggests we’re on the hunt for a creative midfielder
Right, I'm ITK now - here’s what I can say — and this is coming from a reliable contact of mine who’s connected to the media team at Guingamp.
We're working on bringing in a few under-the-radar signings, and from what I’m told, there’s definite interest in Jérémy Livolant. He’s been a key figure at Guingamp — aggressive, direct, and tactically sharp. Can play out wide or as a second striker. He’s Championship-ready in terms of work rate and physicality, and there’s a belief that he could adapt quickly to the tempo of English football. Guingamp are open to letting him go for the right fee, and Charlton have been monitoring the situation for a while now.
On top of that, there’s been some discussion — less developed, but still on the radar — around Niclas Thiede, the German goalkeeper at Eintracht Braunschweig. He’s 25, good size, strong shot-stopper, and comfortable playing out from the back. From what I gather, he’s viewed as someone who could push for the No. 1 shirt or at the very least provide serious competition. A smart depth option in a long, physical season.
The most surprising name, though — and I’ll admit this one raised an eyebrow — is Felipinho from Avaí in Brazil’s Série B. He’s only 22, a lively, creative forward with a real eye for a pass. Not the finished article, but there’s raw ability there and Charlton have apparently had scouts watching him. Could be one of those clever, low-cost gambles that pays off big if the coaching staff get it right.
Got you going there, eh,😉
Damn, I’ve been whooshed! So wanted that to be true, cos there are real bargains to be unearthed in South America.
My brother in law comes from Peru, around 20 years ago he recommended a striker ( maybe Pissarro? ) could be bought for $1 Miln. He went to a German club, Borrusia Dortmand I think, scored goals & was a success.
So where are the other 3 we were promised were lined up and would definitely get done? 😉
My guess. We had a rethink. Don't doubt they weren't at an advanced stage but imo they would've been L1 standard.Carey was the only one to be deemed up to the new level
If we had 4 players lined up and Carey was the best of the bunch, our scouts need a performance meeting. You'd like to think we are identifying a higher/more consistent standard of player now. For every Kayne Ramsay (punt) you get between 5-10 duds.
Carey is a punt at this stage.
Where at any point has it been said Carey the best player we are going to sign this summer .. Carey fits the job that Jones needs …whoever we buy don’t matter how they rate out of 10 each week if they are better then we got in a position that jones wants then that’s good enough … this team is built on spirit , team work , playing for each other these are the sort of players we will be bringing into the group to enhance..
Except Gillesphey, Docherty and Mannion, who are undroppable, right?

No one is undropable.
NJ made it quite clear on Sky that he's got no room for sentiment about players that got us up and that he wants to be competitive and not just trying to stay up. Makes me wonder if we're in for a few surprises in a good way.

I agree, but when some of us suggested players such as those three might lose their places to new signings Ronnie and others strongly disagreed.
But if not players like them, where will we strengthen? They’re obvious spots in the team we could look for better.
He also said it's been slow so far but they expected that, so I doubt that means we've missed out on much that we were truly chasing
Think end of this week start of next is where you'll start to see things pick up , U21 Euros will be done and everyone will be back off holiday. Whole of the league has seemed rather slow

He really does need help. Akers if you’re reading, get yourself a straitjacket
Rodwell interviewed on Sky Sports News this afternoon said he expects 6 or 7 new signings to be made.
And how many did we let go?
im assuming we will still be ‘streamlined’.
5. Chucks, Watson, small, and the two loans
2 extra subs in this league so 7 incomings makes sense. Would imagine there will be some that are versatile and cover multiple positions, particularly defender signings
Besides RWB, LCB, LWB already have minimum 2 players for every position. Obviously need better quality in midfield and up top as well but 6-7 signings does sound like enough. Happy to take longer than normal if it means we do go for quality rather than panicking and start going for players out of desperation. Really don’t fancy more Tedic’s and A.Campbells in the squad
Mentions the academy, I expect the recruitment will look a little lighter than we’d ideally like and we’ll see the u21 group at Wembley pushing for places on the bench.

I don't especially want to be sitting here on deadline day with us signing random PL panic loans to just fill out the squad because we haven't got our main targets. I hope that's a thing of the past signing the Tedics of this world because we're short up front.

I think if the 6/7 are real quality to push players from the current XI onto the bench then I'm not too mad about U21s supplementing some of those sub positions, 9 subs feels like a lot considering only 5 can get on and you rarely see managers use their full capacity as it is

Think that 7 covers what we need, strengthens every area of the formation we are playing
It doesn’t look good if you say you’ll sign 10 and then only bring in 8 or 9.
lets spin this 😂, you forgot Aaron Henry 😃
