I guess we’ll find out one way or another, as either he’ll step up or a Championship club with make a big money offer if they read the ratings.
Will we find out one way or another? - A club can make a bid for him, which they'll no doubt make in private, but even if we stay in League One, we're in no obligation to sell
It will surely be a big bid if he is a genuine Championship level midfielder, so you imagine the club would accept it. Especially if he wanted to make the step up.
People can’t have their cake and eat it!
Would they...? - When they've already turned down bids for the likes of Jones, Campbell and Leaburn in recent times... Maybe we're not such mugs like we are when it comes to selling players anymore... How would you know.
Im glad you conveniently skirted over the fact that I pointed out that a Championship club tried to sign him (Sheffield Wednesday) right before he joined us.
I think cos you said that in your head mate! I thought they pulled out of the deal.

There is a place in between where he can be a solid lower Championship player, a good L1 midfielder, but not someone a club will bid several million for.
Fair point. But you’re still looking at a seven figure bid & the fact that a club like QPR (for example) would be interested.

Wot... Look back at 7:57pm on the last page?
Yes... They pulled out, but dont think the Manager was overly happy about it.
It is believed there are a number of factors at play in the collapse of mutual interest between Wednesday and the Republic of Ireland under-21 midfielder, including a preference on the player's part to stay in London, promises of more frequent playing time by Charlton and the League One club's willingness to offer West Ham a higher sell-on percentage as part of their transfer package.
So Wednesday WANTED him... We just offered him a better deal

They’re a great example. They paid around £2m for Bonne.

Lightweight players don't get these kind of numbers either 👍🏻
Interesting that one of the other rumoured players we are interested in is the No.5 Bradley Ibrahim... Good pedigree having come through the Arsenal academy.
Type of signing that would fit in with the new Under 21/23 scouting role looking for hidden gems.
Yeah I like the sound. Even more so looking at that list though is Harvey Knibbs. Tall, strong, technical and can clearly get stuck in. I think he'd be a dream player for Nathan Jones.
Now they've got their new ownership I don't think they'll be losing their players on the cheap anymore. We should've gone after him and Smith (again) in the January window when the other nutcase was still asleep at the wheel!

Getting 2M for Smith definitely wasn’t losing him on the cheap. Football fees are just getting far too big these days. All for spending money but I’d rather chuck a couple hundred thousand and a good wage on a very good free agent like an Odoffin to guarantee his signature then spend 1-2M to get a player of equal quality
Andy Woodman's goalkeeper son Freddie has been released by Preston (as has Paddy Bauer) A player I really like (might have suffered nasty injury though), Murray Wallace has been released by Millwall .. Woodman is 28, Wallace32, the later as a versatile, VERY good defender would be a perfect squad member covering central and left sided defence
In fact there is a host of 30 somethings now 'on the market' after being released from Champ clubs. I don't go for the 'too old' theory. Look at Godden and Berry and the integral parts they played for us this season (with 1 game to go)

Reckon Wallace will join Neil Harris at Cambridge United.

Collapse of Sheffield Wednesday's Conor Coventry transfer examined - Danny Röhl's stance
