  • If our wage budget is £17m, then I can’t wait for the flurry of £4m+ signings on Monday morning.

    Galbraith isn't happening.
Not doubting you at all, do you know why its not happening and where he is going?
Next week apparently...we're all on tenterhooks at the moment on this one...
  • £17m seems steep for a wage budget , £17m total with half of that being the transfer budget would make more sense.

Would be a real statement to in effect double the wage budget

What he really means is he hasn’t got a clue if Galbraith will sign, but he’s worded it like he’s some insider messiah — meanwhile the rest of us haven’t a clue either between us, and we know it.
Perhaps he knows we are signing someone else instead in Galbraiths position.

I’m pretty confident if it isn’t Galbraith, we’ll be signing someone else — just like everyone else is.
  • Shareholder of another league club here at Glasto when I told them I was a CAFC fan he told me we are currently negotiating for their GK and CH. Both have had lots of Championship and some Prem league experience. Very good standard. Can’t say more because I show my face on the button and don’t want to blow cover as the shareholder I refer to knows me through business…
Hoping this information wasn’t relayed at 4am by a sweaty bloke with big pupils looking for some chewing gum and a hug
lol, no yesterday lunchtime and it was after a meal in a hospitality area restaurant. The CH can also play wing back and full back comfortably - high assist rate and whoever mentioned £17m in wages is near on money with what I was told yesterday too. Very very slightly under and this is not transfer fees, wage bill only.

Keep those beers flowing and do pop back later to tell us more.  😉

  • Derry Murkin — apparently that’s the name dropped on me today by some random German. Clearly, my Charlton towel’s attracting all sorts of loonies.

Too late. Signed on a perm for Utrecht a month ago.

A murkin is a pubic wig. Murkins were worn by prostitutes after shaving their mons pubis, and are used as decorative items or erotic devices by both men and women.

We don't want that sort of person in our club.

    Based on...?
    He hates Charlton remember.
    Ahhhh yes....the vileness.....how could I forget...

He doesn’t hate Charlton, the rumours (which are rumours) is that he said that Charlton are not a championship club, which given we have been between the Championship/League One during his career is a fair comment. The vileness part is what was added on but their (Leyton Orient) fans.

Well Mr Silly Galbraith- Charlton ARE literally a Championship club and historically are far more so than Clapton Orient. Vile as that makes me to state it but those are the facts .

Probably no surprise to most but bounced the tanto info off somebody else who is normally up on stuff and he  told me it’s very likely a number of other signings will also be announced next week
Truly sticking your head into the lion's mouth here on CharltonLife if no signings happen in the next week ;)
Not for the first time 🤷‍♂️im virtually certain on tanto so will take the flack if that doesn’t happen - not taking any flack if nothing revealed next week - there are lots of deals already done by lots of clubs that haven’t been announced yet
    That’s just the point.

Lots of deals done and not announced.

I know of one dutch player signed for a foreign club at least beginning of this month Still not announced at the moment.
Seen picture of him in New Shirt as well.

Sorry, I meant in Galbraiths position.

Anyone worried about Aloafe's finishing, maybe he will be the nuisance alongside the clinical striker.  I loved Pringle and he hardly ever looked like scoring but Hunt scored lots alongside him in 99-00.
No! In two consecutive seasons he hit the target with 48% (league 2) & 44% (league 1) of his total shots. In every level he’s played he’s been threatening 50%
Of those shots that hit the target (in the last two years) he scored with 58% (league 2) and 44% (league 1).
For comparison, TC scored with 26% and Godden scored with 48% of their shots on target last season.
There is also the added factor of every player improved individually under NJ.
Caveat - can this trend continue in the Championship? If so, this is a very clever bit of business.

    Tanto looks like it’s done
    What's made you say that?
  • The CH and GK from the same club who have premier and championship experience wouldn’t be Beadle and Offiah would it?

We should probably look at Luton.

Just said to the missus, if he’s going on loan to the Championship then why not us? He may even want to come home for a season.
