My god Blackpool fans are a weird bunch aren’t they? So many of them are Finding all sorts of ways to cope with him leaving, one has now moved onto him being a bad egg and noticing him celebrating on his own when a goal is scored.
Yeah, it's not like Charlton Life to do a character assassination.
thats just the sort of thing I knew you would say!😀

To be fair, at Wembley, Small ran to the pitch side at full-time and got a flag and was waving it around like a 7 year old at his own birthday party. A few weeks later and he's out the door to the highest wage payer.
Don't really care what fans or players say or think, it's what they do for Charlton on the pitch that matters to me. Good is good, bad is bad, but commitment is key.
The "marquee" signings (or those described as such) aren't always the ones who make the most impact anyway. Kermorgant was one of the very last signings of that window and arrived with more ridicule than fanfare but turned out to be the most impactful signing of a very good window.
According to NJ via Rich it's Kanu or Mbick going out on loan and the other will stay.
I think both need loans, not one or the other.
Kanu does because he needs meaningful minutes which he won’t get with us. Mbick is younger and probably needs to be in and around our training with Jones.
When I think of marquee signings its players where you go "woah, that's a big step up in quality from the usual lot". Players that take you to the next level. Mendonca, Jensen, Di Canio spring to mind. I don't know enough about other teams players these days to be genuinely know if they are any good or not though tbh!
Marquee signing usually suggests a player who's almost transformative to the squad, a headline grabber for the journos. Often pricey but depends on the context (Di Canio was a freebie but imagine his wages were top end for his age bracket). In the current context I'd say Keillor-Dunn would be a marquee signing this summer.
I believe that the term ’marquee signing’ comes from the French 'une signature marquante’ which probably got confused with the past participle ’marqué.’ A marquee is a just like a big tent; I’d love to actually see such an event organised to attract larger audiences to an actual signing.
The Preston bit is a joke. They have obviously read the Preston fans comments and thought they are interested as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if they somehow magically want him now though.
Madrid have always loved a marquee signing too - Tent Alexander Arnold and Franco Mastentuono the latest pair - Franco quoted as saying he is the one and only master marquee signing. His name precedes him…marquee born and bred!
I think until I hear otherwise from a reliable source, I think we’ve agreed a fee for Apter. If we hadn’t met a valuation acceptable to Blackpool I doubt we’d see Bruce commenting on some unwanted speculative bid from another club. Now they might be trying to drum up a bit of interest but it’s looking like Bruce thinks Apter has had his head turned and wants Championship football.

Paulo Di Canio
Would he be considered a marquee signing ?

Here’s an interesting article on the subject, although not expounding my theory:

Don’t get more of a Marquee signing than that.
A Marquee signing at the time...
I'm impressed with Preston's scouting system ?
They monitor who Charlton are interested in then out bid them.
Simples.
