Thought N J interview about Godden/May and Dobbo was uncalled for when he picks McIntyre who is a liability he doesn’t always get it right

Anyway nice win and Monday is huge

For 65-70 mins that was horrible. They out pressed us and we were clearly rattled.

Midfield is looking very tired at the moment and Northampton (at times) bullied us in there.

We looked a little fragile defensively as well. However, I think that can be in part attributed to the absolute nightmare McIntyre had, he was all over the shop and was being targeted.

The penalty was inexcusable. Was amazed Jones didn't change it at HT, but equally pleased he didn't wait once it became clear the second was going down the same route as the first.

Berry made a very tricky chance look easy and had a decent game. Think it's already been said, but there was no doubt in my mind Godden would score when he went through. Made up for the header, yes it was a little unlucky but he has to score there.

Doesn't look like any of the play off contenders are steam rollering teams at the moment, but we are going to have to be a lot better in the next 2 games and equally as good in the play off games.

Really hope Burton are down and our finishing position is sorted by the last game as it would be nice to rotate and give some key players a rest ahead of the play off semi finals.

  • Was only a few months ago Dad told me about his cancer diagnosis at The Valley. In the months since, he has undergone major surgery and beat this bastard disease! And today was his first day back.. absolute machine! And 3 beautiful points to top it off. Beautiful day!

    Lovely post.

If we don't go up automatically, I hope you and your dad  experience a wonderful day out at Wembley together.

We did not play well really but it matters not a jot!

I was nervous about the 3 late subs maybe backfiring  but it seems NJ backs them all.

I also saw a TV shot of NJ drinking what looked like Red Bull mid match - does he calm down at all ?!

Small seems to veer between moments of high energy brilliance to moments of great stupidity…never seen such inconsistency!
Does he ever look where he's going when dribbling. Can't remember a player who has dribbled the ball over the goal line more times whilst being tracked by the defender.

MacIntyre had a brain fart and evert player has had them. This is a league one team with league one players, they are all guilty of one every now and again. Inconsistency in performances, over a period of time, is why these players are playing in league one.

They now have the opportunity to change the narrative, and with it their careers, and the future of our club. Regardless of what any other team does, if we lose the next 3 and win the following 3, we are promoted.

A win today is huge as NJ can now plan for the playoff games.

I thought Small looked tired, wonder if he needs a game off to help him be ready for the play offs.

Another hard fought win. Didn't play well & although play offs are now secured I'm not sure we will be going into them as an "in form" team. Yes, we might not have lost recently but we're not playing with any type of swagger & last 2 games have been holding on to a single goal lead going into injury time.

Yes, call me a negative Nancy (I'm really not - just a realist) but it would be nice to win by more than a single goal & look comfortable with 10 mins to go.

Looking at other teams recent results I think we'll lose on Monday & Wycombe are now in the box seats for 2nd. Wrexham are now starting to bottle it & can see us winning up there.

Cant see is getting 2nd, especially as our GD is much worse than the other 3 teams around us who can grab it. Only way that will change is if we beat Wycombe & Wrexham by 3 or 4 clear goals, which ain't going to happen.

You are a lunatic. We have:

    4 wins in 5.
    9 wins in 12
    1 defeat in 12.
    2 defeats in 19.
56 points from our last 25 games, which averaged over a full season is 103 points.

But yeah, we're not an "in form" team.
Maybe "in form" wasn't the right word but currently I'd say if we played Stockport in the play offs we'd lose both games.

We are only just managing to beat the poor teams at the wrong end of the table. If we beat Burton 4-0 like we beat Rochdale at the end of the 18/19 season then I'll eat humble pie.
I'd rather be out of form winning than out of form losing. Wrexham and Stockport both scraped draws today. Wycombe may have won 2-0 but Bolton had all the possession and it took a 95th minute goal to make it comfortable.

I think NJ deserves massive credit. He’s really turn the club around, albeit supported by his backroom team and the wider club.
Hopefully the American owners witnessed what potential this club has today and the momentum builds into these final three games.

It is well documented he drinks 6 pints of Red Bull to calm the fuck down!

Well, my eight year old grandson enjoyed his first proper match. As others say, Northampton looked good for large parts of the game and I wouldn't have been surprised if they had scored a second before we did. However, a win is a win. I'll miss the last match but won't be too upset if I have to miss play-offs as well because we have been promoted automatically instead.

We won 4-0 at home just two weeks ago...

It doesn't happen every weekend, even for the best teams in the world.

Lloyd Jones was motm in the lounges and I took a pic of him with my mate and son and said he’s our player of the year but before that I harshly said he was brilliant today and most of the rest were shit .
this is all too stressful, it’s the cricket season let’s go up automatically , I feel sick about Monday , it’s all just body popping .
id take second spot next season in league one if it was offered to me now .
nice to see The Valley busy ‘where were you when we were shit ‘
Always been a fan of Berry and Godden clever clever players .
if only the boat had been pushed out a tad further in January with some proper signings than the two guff loanees we may have been nearer to automatics .
I’ll never be satisfied with league one third tier crap, please release us from this footballing hell

A great 3 points ! Performance not great but who cares at this stage. Definitely the most biased ref I have seen, either biased or an idiot one or the other
Nah, they are not mutually exclusive.  He was both.

I truly believe the footballing Gods have given us Wycombe followed by Wrexham away for a reason.  I don’t think we can get the automatics, but I have a feeling we can still sneak 3rd, similar to how it played out in 18/19

It’s going to be a lot harder this time round as both Wycombe and Wrexham are doing well and will be able to raise their game, regardless of which one of them misses out on the automatics.  Stockport are a good team and if Orient nick 6th, they’ll be buzzing.

The next 3 could be a rollercoaster

Disgraceful referee. I’m not anti official but he needs reporting.

Apart from that Cov looks a yard slow atm and thus got a stupid yellow which didn’t help in the lead up to their goal.
