  • Opta are picking AFC Wimbledon, Stockport and Sheffield United.

  • So two of the teams that finished 3rd.
  • underway at Ashton Gate. Bright start by Sheff Utd. 2 corners already.
  • Not sure that Sheffield United goal was offside
  • Good goal by Tyrees/ce Campbell disallowed (belatedly) for an imagined offside. 'Fking bullsh1t' Wilder can be seen saying over and over.
  • Probably the right decision to disallow that imo. Knight probably clears that off the line if it wasn’t for the Sheffield Utd player in his way.

Bristol now smash the bar from the edge of the box.

Official reason for disallowing was as you say covered end junior, other attacker was interfering.

Good game so far. Sheff Utd seem a little more direct and have drawn saves from the BC keeper.

2000 Blades fans in the away end they say.
  • 1-0 to Sheff Utd. penalty, and red card for the defender.
  • Never a red card. Got the ball

  • Yeah that red is a shocking decision and a big shame from a neutral point of view
  • Deffo a pen, he’s all over Moore before he then gets the ball. Debatable whether or not it should be a yellow or a red.
  • There’s no attempt to play the ball from what I can see, he fouls and then wins the ball. That removes double jeopardy and allows the red card
  • Definite red for me, he's all over his back before he even makes an attempt for the ball

The challenge is an attempt to get round him to play the ball no? Very clumsy and wouldnt argue with the pen but I’d feel hard done by if that was us.

But he gets around him illegally using his hands and committing the foul. Playing the ball is very literal for the law, it means using your foot/head etc to touch the ball which he can’t do using his hands on the attackers shoulders
  • What a nightmare for Bristol City.
  • So a debatable red care effectively ends Bristol City’s season

i haven’t seen it - just going by comments on here

id be surprised if Brizzle will be so competitive next year.  It’s almost like this was their big chance
  • Have we all forgot the sheff weds v posh fixtures a few years ago? Play off football is mad and anything can happen

Think that's a bit different though. Peterborough have always been a bit of a vulnerable side defensively, I can't see Sheffield United under wilder throwing 3 away at Bramall Lane, got a lot of quality and they're a bit too street wise for that.

Reckon that tie is as good as done.

I hope Sunderland beat Coventry, nothing against Coventry, I'd just like to see Sunderland do well.

Yeah that’s the first I’ve seen it and it’s definitely a sending off for me too…

And Sheff United are much better than Brizzle, whereas Posh were much worse than Sheff Wednesday (going on the league tables where they were 19 points behind)
  • God knows how the holding from the city player causes both the united players feet to simultaneously drop away.

One of those where modern commentators would say, "he felt a touch and was entitled to go down".

Sadly, as judged by the comments on here, cheating and deception is now an accepted part of the game.

I think you're probably right, just never say never in the play offs
  • It's weird ain't it.
I said no way a red, himself said defo.
Either way the only way Brizzle were going to win is if that Manning wonder strike went in instead of hitting the bar, different game then.

But oh my, I spent all that game with absolutely no skin in the game with mahoosive butterflies.

    Dear God.

What am I going to be like come Sunday 🫣🤯😳🤣🤣

That is the way the penalty law has evolved. Nobody seems completely sure. For what its worth, I think the initial play was to stop the man before trying to get the ball so it can't be argued the Bristol City player was trying to get the ball and so a sending off was the correct decision IMO.

While that’s all very true it’s kind of irrelevant to the actions of the defender which are clearly an attempt to play the man and not the ball, a foul and a red card dismissal.
