Charlton TV playoffs and (if) final

Will Charlton TV be broadcasting the playoff games and final (if we make it there)?

Sorry for creating a thread for a short conversation but i have asked a few times on other threads without anyone replying.

Think of this as me standing in the middle of a pub shouting,  while groups of seated drinkers huddle with their backs to me, muttering into their pint glasses.

  • The discussion's on this thread, mate.

We are hoping for some answers from Gavin Carter tomorrow at the CAST Q&A
  • Ah thank you. Found it. It was at the very bottom of the page for me on the home page and so I missed it.

Wycombe have their streams up for supporters abroad in the selected countries, so it is technically and possible by the broadcast rules/deal. Really can't see why Charlton would not sell to fans abroad, would be a stupid decision not to.
  • I think Terry mentioned that he would be commentating on the playoffs but not sure whether this was just audio.

This is interesting and quite urgent. Can you send me the source links for that? Its not obvious what you mean by “selected countries”.

I think it means pretty much all countries without a Z in their name….

Home and away leg stream available to purchase here if you 'travel' to Luxembourg: https://www.wwfc.com/videos/subscriptions/

Looks like previous matches were £10

Weirdly they are not advertising the home leg stream om main site, but I presume thats because they are struggling to sell tickets

Confirmed you can purchase match stream for £10 for both play off legs if you travel to Luxembourg

Hope this helps with discussions with GC
  • Thanks @BalladMan  potentially very important and useful.

However when I click on the link you posted in your first post, I do not see the option that you obviously were offered in your second post.
  • I think it depends which territory you are in.  If in Czech (as I assume you are), it says 'no match passes available' indicating the match is not available in that territory.

It does not work for me in UK, Turkey or Czech, but is available in Luxembourg.

Yes! you are right, I switched to Luxembourg and got it.

Good, so now we know Wycombe are doing it, I can hopefully forward that news to Gavin Carter and get it him to (hopefully) confirm that they will run Charlton TV as usual for international viewers. I am worried though that Charlton are not currently offering any one-off match pass on the website. I have an annual sub. but the wording of that is ambiguous regarding whether play off games are part of that annual package.

I see also that there is now a play-off preview show on Charlton TV, which surely must mention whether or not its available. I'll go and run it now.

    What a mess.

They did not state in the preview show if there was a streaming option for either leg.

I am guessing they want to maximise ticket sales for the home match so want to keep quiet until the last minute.  If they announced that the away leg was on catv I think most people would assume the home one is too, ergo waiting until last minute.

EDIT: They are also selling tickets to watch in the fans bar at the valley of course, another reason not to push people to CATV too early.

Or it does not make commercial sense to stream the match.  I can't see there being much cost as commentators have already stated they will be there and we use the same feed as Sky, What we do know now is that the EFL / contracts do not prevent a stream in certain territories, so the question can be asked.
  • I am fine but trying to get for my son who is currently in Vietnam. If Wycombe are showing it and we aren't then we can just buy from them surely.

Posted this on another thread yesterday

Not sure playoffs are 'eligible' games for streaming........ Sheff Utd and Bristol City tomorrow night and neither club are showing a streaming option via their tv channel?

You can apparently stream from one of these countries:

    Key Territories

The following regions are classified as “key territories” and therefore can stream midweek matches that are selected for TV broadcast, in addition to all non-televised league matches:

Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Sudan, South Sudan, Tunisia, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Chad, Djibouti, Somalia, Palestine, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, France, the French Territories (excluding the Non-Exclusive French Territories), Poland, Iceland and the Netherlands.

    Unsold Markets

The following regions are classified as “unsold markets” and therefore can stream all league matches:

American Samoa, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Brunei, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Christmas Islands, Cocos Islands, Cook Islands, Cyprus, East Timor, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Fiji, Gambia, Germany, Gibraltar, Guam, Italy, Kiribati Islands, Laos, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau, Malta, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nauru, New Caledonia, Niue, Norfolk Islands, North Korea, North Mariana Islands, Palau, Papa New Guinea, Pitcairn Islands, Poland, Republic of South Sudan, Samoa, Socotra, Soloman Islands, South Tyrol, Spain, Switzerland, Tahiti, Taiwan, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvala, Vanuata, Vietnam, Wallis & Futuna, Western Samoa

Also Wycombe have their streaming passes up. I was in Luxembourg at time of checking

Info is from Sheffield United, so maybe country list is just for Champ. https://livepreview.gc.sufc.co.uk/news/2024/december/02/sutv-half-season-passes/

Noticed this on EFL website yesterday too
I also don't see as an option. But EFL has this:

All League One and League Two matches are available for Clubs to stream internationally even if selected for international broadcast.

Perhaps club has not put it up yet.

EFL match centre takes you to CharltonTV to buy a pass. So think it should be available. https://www.efl.com/match-centre? Choose EFL league 1 and then live stream option for game.

Edit: I nipped.over to Ukraine before visiting the EFL

Just visit the correct country, and pass will be available.

Emailed club, and got this reply:

    ,
    Thanks for your email.

Games only eligible for live video streaming will be available to watch
Live audio commentary, match highlights and exclusive club content are available.

It will be available for audio in the UK

So I take that to mean if you are in the right country stream is available.

BTW this site is a nightmare on a mobile phone for formatting

Well, that seems to be a step forward, except that:

    - is there a match pass or not? (Wycombe are selling them) Are those of us with annual passes automatically getting this as part of their deal?

    - if you read that word salad carefully, you may not be 100% sure that it means what you think it means. It probably does, but could mean that this is not "eligible" because playoffs don't count as part of the standard package.

If it is part of season ticket then bonus. If not then only a tenner. I mean normal season ticket holders have to pay extra so likely streamers will.

Edit : website indicates valid year pass includes the matches .
Don't know why they are waiting til Saturday to buy match pass , but hey ho.

They ‘monetise’ everything at Charlton now.

Be amazed if your loyalty is rewarded with this ‘bonus’ game.

Yes you can, I posted the links above.  Just means they get the $$$$
I have checked and you can buy if you 'travel' to Vietnam via https://www.wwfc.com/videos/subscriptions/
  • Long story short: its exactly the same as a regular league game as far as CATV is concerned.
  • Long story short: its exactly the same as a regular league game as far as CATV is concerned.
No it isn't. Not here in Portugal anyway.

The EFL website is claiming that their "international partner" Sport TV is covering all the play-offs, see the screen grab below...

But this is horseshit, Sport TV's programme guide is clearly advertising only the Championship play-offs, which is absolutely no surprise at all.

So Charlton TV will be geoblocked and we will not be able to see it through the "international partner" either.

I have e-mailed the following to the EFL:

    Dear Sir or Madam,

Your website is showing that Sport TV is broadcasting all the play-off semi-finals in Portugal. This is not true, Sport TV’s TV guide reveals that only the Championship matches are being show, which is exactly what I expected.

    Link here: https://www.sporttv.pt/guia

With this in mind, the blackout on Charlton TV in Portugal is meaningless, so will you be granting Charlton TV the right to show it in my region?

I expect the usual waffle in response...

    Here's the screen grab:
