surprised to see Hayes go and disappointed too. However I don't think he could hack it in the Championship. With Haynes injured and just one striker for the bench there is definately someone lined up and someone better than Hayes in SCP's opinion.

Feel sorry for Hayes, we played some of the best football i've seen for a long time at the start of the season.
Yes I agree, but Powell sees BWP and Kermit as first choice up top, followed by Haynes and then Clarke (?). If we do get another striker in when and where are they going to play? Powell has to field his strongest 11 for the remainder of the season, so unless we get injuries the new chap will be a bench warmer for 75 mins of every game.

another example of the tight squad/budget head count policy? Hoping for a replacement or two to help push us onwards, must be a quality wide man if we can get one loan to perm perhaps?

Even though Kermit is a legend, I noticed that BWP goals dried up when Hayes had to make way,.

seeing as a lot of you rate Hayes that highly, I now expect to see him scoring loads of goals for Wycombe and overtaking BWP as top goalscorer .............NOT.

I think SCP shares my views. At the start of the season I posted on here that we would not get promoted with the strikers that we had at that time (BWP, Hayes, Benson, Euell) - since then he has brought in Kermy, Haynes & Clarke and got rid of Euell, Benson & now Hayes.
    Me too, I agree totally
  • I wonder if we could still get Ecclestone. Think he may do better in this team than the last time he was on loan to us, and he can score goals. Just a thought, nothing more.

Hayes is a different type of player to either Clarke or Haynes. His record and the way he plays indicate that he is not an out & out scorer but more of a link man. Given this and that our forwards are just not scoring goals, it seems that Powell does not see a recall for Hayes as a solution to the goal drought. Doherty has hardly figured at all this season and given that Wycombe, who are in deep relegation trouble, are probably prepared to pay well for the services of Doherty and Hayes and that that money might finance an expensive new loanee for us, this situation begins to make some sense.
  • I would prefer Sam Baldock on loan from West Ham I don't think he plays that much for them and they have just signed Vaz Te and Maynard as well.

Not happy about Hayes going out... feel he has more to offer the side given the chance.

Haynes stated last night that he is back in training today and may be fit for tomorrow. 4 strikers, with only one place on the bench (no need for 2 strikers imo) so I don't think we need anyone else in unless another injury occurs imo.

    Ok,

    Has been injured then.

Either way we have no chance.

Lee Barnard is one to look out for.

I still think we'll get Barnard.
  • Losing Doc means we're down to 3 CBs. If one of Morro or Taylor was to get injured, then who would be the backup CB on the bench?

There's a recall option on Doc after 28 days. Does anyone know what the recall option is on Mambo?

    Dohery bye bye...

However Hayes is good to have around for the run in surely?

I think Clarke looked a lot better v Rochdale than I have seen previously. I think we need to give him time. He may come good.

Can't wait till Haynes is back playing. I love his energy.

He usually needs longer than that to get back.

Fell sorry for Paul Hayes he started the season well with some assists and some goals. For me he should be in the 16 every week.

Don't forget he scored 9 in 14 for Chesterfield this season. That's a decent return in a struggling side so he obviously has some ability.

Has everyone forgotten about his god awful heavy first touch and his unbelievable ability to keep giving the ball away?

I wish him luck for the future but seriously don't believe he is the sort of standard we should be looking for. Haynes could be back in the squad for this weekend and that leaves us with 4 strikers not sure we will even sign another, although a quality loan would be nice.

Baldock was out injured for about three weeks but has been in West Hams match day squad for the past four league games. I would have thought that we would have a chance of getting him on loan personally but maybe your right, Barnard would be another good option as well though. However I thought Barnard was supposed to have to have an attitude problem?

if Haynes is due back shortly then i think there is maybe more chance that a right sided defender comes in than another forward - have i missed something - i thought Haynes was out for 6 weeks?

I thought they only took him off as a precaution and he was back in training.
