If you posted pics of me for a crime that I wasn't involved in, I would hunt you down. #justsaying

This incident shows how just one maniac on the loose can bring a city of a 1/2 million+ people to a virtual standstill.

The Moroccan student is an innocent victim. All the people who had their picture posted on the internet bacause they were carrying a black rucksack are innocent victims.

No, they are innocent - they become victims when/if someone decides to take the law into their own hands and decides not to bother involving the police or any kind of legal authority.

I'm pretty sure that your opinion would change if you were to wake up one morning and discover that your name/photograph were being wrongly linked with some crime. The 17 year old kid went in fear of his life to the police, while Chris Jefferies and Robert Murat, once they recovered from being named as murderers and tried in the media took the newspapers responsible to court and won large sums of money. I'm pretty sure though that they would both rather have not been tried in public by the media.

Good article on this on the BBC News site.

Boston bombing: How internet detectives got it very wrong:

Think the description of the social media as a "racist Where's Wally" is pretty accurate to be honest.

Can't see it stopping though, so many people like to show off online and try to prove they're big and clever. Trying to be the first to spot a criminal or a clue strikes me as another extension to the berks who have to be first to comment on comments sections everywhere.

  • I believe so, yes.

Bob Crowe has proved this over the years.

I don't see how all this live coverage from all over can do anything but help the slimebag get away.

    I believe so, yes.

i know thats for safety and also to help them find the guy but what if you booked a really top restaurant with the fittest girl in town who said this was the only night in her life that she would do things to you that you only dreamt about, what happens if all that is the case?

Tough, really! Stay in or try going out and get a policeman with a big gun to tell you in no uncertain terms to stay in, as I've got a feeling they'd be more interested in catching the bloke who killed their colleague than your evening plans.

Spoke to a colleague of mine in Boston who is out and about. Seems as though they've been advised to stay in but it's not enforced like a curfew or anything.

Very quiet and eery out there though apparently. Good job I wasn't out there this week, would have been due to be flying home today!

Dunkin Donuts are everywhere in Boston, it's insane how many outlets there are in that city.
