Why have the Glaziers got an Eagle emblem on their shirts anyway?

Blame Malcolm Allison - in the mid '70s he decided that "the Glaziers" was not a sufficiently catchy or aggressive nickname and he wanted something in keeping with the way that Americans market their sporting teams. So someone added an eagle to the logo and their nickname became the Eagles.

Like everything to do with the club it has no history or tradition and is a blatant rip off of an existing idea.

If I had it my way I'd revert back to the glaziers and we'd play in claret and blue.

    But it's not.

Doesn't look as bad as I thought, and much better than previous efforts.

We didn't own the copyright on the old, you can find copies our old badge on your mate Ron noades' golf courses!

Arsenal changed their badge for the same reason, and not for the better. Your new badge is probably better than the old one I'd admit...

Not out problem of course, as you can see with "TM" on the badge!

They've had to change it as Tango man sold the copyright for the old badge.

They'd probably get about £3.50 for this one.

Jordan never owned the copywrite. No one did, hence why the eagle is used at noades' golf courses and also other European clubs. I think there's a Romanian team that uses the same eagle.

Of course we tried to change our nickname to something more modern too, but luckily 'Valiants' has been largely forgotten.

Yes he did and he mortgaged it to "raise funds". I've seen the mortgage documents.

Altonwood do not use the Palace badge with the sparrow standing on a ball on top of a greenhouse. Indeed no European Football Club does.

They can't as the copyright for that design is owned (from memory) by HSBC.

I thought it was the bird itself that was the issue though.

The greenhouse means that the two corporate logo's are different.

HSBC could theoretically sue Noades for image rights but the chances are they wouldn't win and if they did, then damages would be limited.

    Identity crisis?

Why not change the name of the team as well?

This might be even better! Could be a good banner to make up for next season when we play them.
