    Did us a favour back in 1983 when he agreed to bring the Chelsea game forward so we could bank the gate receipts (for the young among you...we were totally skint and barely had the doh to pay the wages and Chelsea were on a great run of form....so suited both parties).

    My dad worked with him for a while and really liked him but I know others who have worked at Stamford Bridge who say he was incredibly rude etc etc.

    None of which really helps in the "do we want him running the club" discussion but hey ho....

    Wasn't that risdale rather than bates? Anyway , would TJ amd MS benifit from his involvement and would in be in the best interest of their investment - if no (which I think is highly likely) then they won't want him here

    Wasn't it bates that came up with the splendid wheeze to divide the sramford bridge pitch up into small plots and them to the Chelsea fans; and wasn't it bates that sold chelsea to ambramovitch when he'd supposedly come to london to look at spurs ?

    Us older fans won't forget what he did for us back in 83 (or 85?). I've liked and defended him since. However, I would'nt want him at
    our Club today, I don't think he'd part with much of his money and in fact I agree he's too shrewd a businessman to invest in Charlton.

    We could also end up with Dennis Wise as he is on good terms with KB. We need investment but there must be a better alternative to this ?
